reminds me an old 2D Metal Gear-like stealthgame about santa, nice work!
This was a really nice stealth game. Love the voxel look! The controls are really simple and easy to understand, while the levels are quite challenging. I was a a bit disappointed when I reached the last level, would have loved to play many more levels :D
Do you plan to extend this after the jam finished?
Oh Santa! This game was most enjoyable and fun to play trying to hide from the children. I love the voxel art as well too the colors used in this game were really colorful and joyous like. Amazing job on this!
Really enjoyed this one! Simple but effective mechanics and art looked lovely. Like others said the difficulty curve is a little high but still a fun game.
Really fun game!
Visual
The visual aspect of the game is really cool, it's simple yet effective. It's pleasing to the eye!
Audio
The music fits really well what happens :)
Tutorials
Unfortunately none :(
Gameplay
- The "drop something to make them move" is underused, it makes the game much more interesting
- Some levels are a bit too easy, it's almost impossible to be spotted. But some are challenging and the game becomes interesting at this point :)
- The gameplay is smooth, I feels really great to play the game
Fun
I had a lot of fun while playing the game, thanks for that!
Bugs
No bugs encountered, it looks really polished!
Theme
Completely in the theme :)
First very amazing that you write a detailed review! Beside that also you feedback is so kind! And I think everyone of our team is happy to get so detailed and good feedback.
The point you mentioned that we don't have a tutorial was due time issues and we hoped that the first easy levels will work as a more or less good tutorial. Also that we don't used the throwing mechanic that much was due time issues.
Enjoyed it a lot! Beautiful graphics, fun idea that you had to eat the cookies and drink the milk as well. Clear mechanics and easy to know what to do which is a big plus. Now I know what Santa has to go through every Christmas!
I enjoyed it a lot :-) simple but cute graphical style and some interesting levels.
Really fun game, it is super polished. Also this is one of the first games with a volume slider, so thank you for that. :) The only tip I can think of is that the animation to get out of the chimney was a bit too slow for my tastes, especially when having to do a level many times.
I kept forgetting to eat the cookies...
..didn't matter because i'm ninja santa!
Really loved the game, but the difficulty shot up so fast! Maybe I'm just bad at games though, really well made with a very clear vision!
Really cool game! Love tying Christmas and the game jam theme together, and playing as a stealthy Santa is rad.
I really like the concept and execution of this game. I haven't really thought of it, but stealth santa game is pretty genious, now I'm surprised I haven't seen it before. Gameplay itself is simple and reasonably polished. Main menu has nice look, but it did take me some time to figure out that you have to press on one of the homes, so that part might have some indication to make it clearer perhaps. Funny and really minor thing is that I could not retry or go to next level using keyboard. I know I'm lazy, but could be cool to be able to only use keyboard when each level can be reasonably short :D. Overall I liked nice sound design, especially "Oh Santa!" voiceline. Misions just fit santa theme so well. Nice one!
Thank you very much for the nice comment. You are right about the main menu it is not fully fleshed but it eventually did its job. If we had more time, we might have had more test players to get some ideas fore improvements but of course we are glad you liked it and we see that these are just improvements not vital features :)
Thanks!
