Fantastic! I really like this game. I love having that much control when I pause the game. Good Luck!

Developer

Thanks! Very glad you liked it :)

The audio of this game is well-designed, both in sound effects and music. I found the walking sound effect to be cute, it sounds like a robot making little sound effects as it walks around. The music was also very calming and peaceful sounding which fits the light-neutral color aesthetics that the game has. However, there does seem to be a bit of a delay before the music repeats again,

The controls feel smooth, and it's fun to be able to control my minions' movement like it was a video. It also feels satisfying when I'm able to time my jumping with the way my minions were pre-recorded.

The puzzles are well designed, and don't hold the player's hand on how to complete the levels. The game teaches one mechanic, and then throws in levels in-between that makes sure that the player knows how to utilize that mechanic before moving on to something new. It makes it exciting knowing that there are newer mechanics to learn, and it makes each level feel unique the farther the player goes.

Since all the levels were unlocked right at the beginning of the game, it was hard to tell which level I left off on when I exited the game. Perhaps the the last level that the player played could be highlighted in the level selection to make it easier to find again.

One thing that could be improved is to not have the minions reset after the player dies and to just respawn the player-character themselves. I would have preferred to press the reset button if I didn't like my minions' placements instead of being forced to backtrack my movement all over again. Perhaps the reset button could be pressed twice quickly to iterate backwards to the previous minion if the player wanted to change their movement, and to hold down the reset button to restart everything.

In level 2.4, it was kind of hard to tell which buttons the wires were connected to since they were either close together or they overlap each other. Perhaps the buttons + wires could be color-coded so it's easier to differentiate which wire connects to what.

There were also some moments where the lined details of the ground connected to the wires which made me think at some points that the wires were connected to certain buttons until I took a closer look and saw that they were different colors. My laptop's monitor isn't that bright, so this should probably be dealt with for users who do not have good screens.

Overall, it's a very well-designed puzzle game that has satisfying mechanics, and varied puzzles. This game definitely has potential of being a great puzzle-platformer, and I hope you continue development of this game after the jam ends.

Wow, thanks a lot for such detailed feedback! I'm really glad you liked so many aspects of the game.

Resetting just the main character and not minions was already suggested before and I agree that it would be a very convenient addition - I'll try to implement it into the post-jam patch, though this will require some major code rewriting.

The color coding of the wires could certainly help, though it would require massive tileset reworking, so it's definitely out of scope for now. Also, I feel like analysing the circuits is not that difficult, but provides some kind of additional challenge to the game.

The blending of wires and ground details is a very good find! I'm surely going to make this a little clearer in the post-jam version.

Once more, thanks a lot for the feedback, it means a lot! I'm really happy with how the overall response to the game looks like, therefore I'm seriously thinking about building a full fledged game based upon theese ideas. It will all of course depend on how much time I'll find to work on it, team I'll manage to assemble and the interest in this game after the jam ends. Thanks one final time, cheers!

A really simple, relaxing and fun game. The main mechanic is simple and easy to understand, and the music its awesome!

Great job! :D

Developer

Thanks, glad you enjoyed!

The only thing that disappointed me in this game is that 20 Levels wasn't all the way to  Level 20.0. Really great job, I've probably played this same mechanic in a dozen different games and this one be far was the best because of how much you expanded on it, the ability to control when in time my bots were at any time in my play through made this go from a frustrating waiting game to a very fun platformer. amazing job!

Developer

Thanks a lot! I'm really happy you liked the game :)

Of all the games on jam, I liked this one the most. The training and explanations are done on A+, everything is so clear that there is absolutely no discomfort. It's nice to play. Levels create a challenge, but it's a challenge to the gameplay, not for me as a player to understand what I need to do. The only thing is these red zones. This is how it was conceived that you can step on their upper surface? I passed some LVL exactly like this(I can't understand how otherwise). If so, it would be nice if this was somehow explained(or I missed it). Initially, I thought that where it begins there comes death immediately, you can not touch it with a single pixel. In any case, this is a really great game!

Submitted

Oh btw! Minions! They are real your minions, in case you jump on there heads to finish your goal!

Developer

Thanks a lot, I'm really happy you liked it so much! The red zones usually have a smaller hitbox than it visually appears. I'm aware that sometimes it can be misleading (especially in level 1.11), but I decided to leave it like this and focus instead on improving other aspects of the game.

Cool Game ! The music is relaxing and graphics are cute. It's pleasant to play. There is no lack of challenge and puzzle are well-made. When you die, you could give to the player the opportuny to keep his minion. Restart from the beginning could be frustrating.

Nice job !

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Being able to preserve minion after restart/game over sounds like a useful feature, I'll consider adding it to the post-jam version.

I like your game, the rewind idea is well implemented. I like how to use your clone to move around the level.

Good job.

My game is a casual game if you wanna rate is https://misterm.itch.io/mixtape-match , Thanks

Character controls are bit stiff which can be frustrating in some levels that require a bit more of accuracy from the player. Also the walk sound gets annoying pretty quickly. But those are my only problems with the game. Cool idea though!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback, it's unfortunate that you found the controls unpleasant. Glad you enjoyed the game nonetheless :)

Relly cool game, i would recommend going to your page settings and disableing fullscreen button, because atm you have 2 fullscreen buttons (one from itch, one from webgl), Good level design, though game glitched for me on level with double switches, green chicken became small and wasn't moving, which was pretty weird

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the feedback and the advice - already disabled the fullscreen button! The glitch sounds like you accidentally stopped the recording immediately after the level start and the recording got stuck on the first frame of the chicken spawn animation (hence the smaller spirte).

Submitted

that could be the case, would recommend adding some kind of blockade, so this won't happen

Amazing game. Might be one of the best implementation I've seen of time travel puzzles. Really cool aesthetics and music. If you it turn it into a full game with some quality of life mechanics (such as fast forwarding), I'd certainly buy it. Btw, how did you record the movement of the minions? I'm guessing you stored the positions in an array and then interpolated between them to have a smooth movement?

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks a lot, really glad you enjoyed it! I simply saved the position of the minion every fixed update and then loaded it during the playback, there was no need to perform any interpolation.

Wonderful puzzle platformer! I've seen a lot of games like this with frustrating/confusing rewind mechanics, but this one does a great job with it. The puzzles are well-designed and the presentation is charming. My one complaint is that rewinding can be kind of slow.

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! I agree that the rewinding is slow - initially I was planning to add the option to speed it up, but unfortunately didn't have time to do so.

Really great game, the mechanics were good and loved the art. Also the sounds in general worked great with the game. Great job!

Things I liked, the actual puzzles you have here are bonkers, I loved all of them! Your mechanic idea for the chickens(?) is very cool and definitely plays well with the theme. You build well off of each previous level and it gets really cool and complicated later on which I adore.

Things I dislike, the walking animation sound gets a bit repetitive after a while, either soften it or diversify the sounds a bit more and that should work well. Also you should give names to the chickens. Im actually dead serious with that, not only would it be cute but it would allow the player to distinguish the two minion chickens apart so they know which is which.

Overall a fabulous game! Can't wait to see what else you make, keep up the good work!

Developer

Thanks a lot for the feedback! I guess the walking sound can be a little bit annoying and I had a really hard time deciding whether to keep it or not, though in the end I think it sounds awkwardly cute and sits nice with the art. Also, the naming of the chickens (as well as some visual distinction) certainly would help. Thanks for the comment once more, glad you've enjoyed playing :)

Developer (1 edit)

I forgot to add - don't know if you played the WebGL or the windows build, but unfortunatelly the WebGL one has the walking sound a little bit messed up and there's irritating audio click every time the sound effect is replayed. This isn't present in the Windows build.
