Pretty clever use of the limitation. I liked that you created a mobile game. I don't play a lot of tap games, but this seemed to fit the bill. I felt like the heat meter builds too quick early in the game, though, and it would be better to have that work slow at first, then get faster as you become more notorious. Also, it took me a bit to realize I could buy multipliers of one revenue stream. Once I figured that out, it made more sense. Maybe people who are used to tap games would have gotten that faster.

Thank you for this feedback. The heat meter has been mentioned at length, seems everyone has ideas for that part, which is awesome! I am planning to actually finish the game, and will definitively take an extra look at the heat meter for release :)

Thanks :)

Oh! Okay. I don't read other people's feedback unless I have an issue, just so it doesn't taint my score/review.

Developer(+1)

Yea that is probably for the better :)

Really enjoyed the use of pausing here, and overall I just love the game and how it looked, even though I usually don't enjoy tycoons, well done sir!

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much for this! I really enjoyed working both on the game, and with the restrictions in place, I found that it added more than I thought it would. I'm glad you liked it :)

Looks really good! I’m not a fan of the idle game genre as a whole because it feels too idle, less like a game and more like a time-killer, but I think this helps subvert that genre because it has so much for you to keep on top of - it’s very active and engaging, and I enjoyed playing. My only grievance is that the buildup feels too slow sometimes in comparison to the payoff. Also, the logo with the 3 heads is great. It looked like a dude with a moustache at first and I loved that.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for the feedback, I am glad you found the game engaging :)

The graphic design is elegant (I don't how but I feel it could have been a bit more improved, to be a bit more detailed/interesting and fitting to the game atmosphere,  but it's good as it is) Btw i LOVE the 3 heads logo.

Developer

Thank you for this, I am looking into improving the game overall :)

It is cool little twist on idle-management games and in fact i think that twist makes it non-idle game ;) Cool concept, clean presentation and really well done use of limitation. One of the best games in this jam for me :)

One think i would change is put shop menu in such way that you wouldn't leave game part - there was a time that i thought i won't make it by expanding organization so i won't be busted.

Really enjoy that one.

good job, I like it

(pretty interesting way of implementing limitation)

Developer

Thanks man!

One of my overall favorite games in the jam so far! Putting this twist on the idle incremental genre turns it on its head in a really interesting way as you need to juggle your businesses, and the evidence mechanic gives you incentive to keep upgrading your weaker ones.

My only suggestions would be cosmetic: for instance, there could be a more instantly obvious visual shorthand for which businesses are paused and which ones are running, like the former could be tinted red and the latter tinted green. As it is, the pause icons are easy to miss when you're in crisis management mode. It would also be nice if the warning siren turned off the moment you paused the business that got into the danger zone.

Developer(+1)

Great feedback i love suggestions, the siren will be altered to turn off when the operation is pauses, Thanks!

About the pause icon, I actually Think I will change it to Pop up in the center of the operation, and be replaced by a fade-away play icon when the operation is resumed. I dont know if you played with Sound or not, but there are audio clues associated with the pause and resume :)

Thanks for the comment! :) Cheers

Everyone else has pointed out the heat bar bug so I'll skip that,

Very solid and balanced incremental game! It landed in a strange space between a more active game and an idle game, as in order to get any money you have to watch your heat bar to turn the activity off in time. Either a more idle approach, or something with more interactivity would solidify the experience, I feel, but a fun game all the same.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for this feedback, I am still improving  the heat bar, I thought I had fixed the issues mentioned earlier, but clearly i have not. I am glad to have that brought to my attention.

I am hoping to expand this game in the future to add more elements to manage, this will make the game slightly more active in nature. I get what you are saying about the inbetween-er nature of the gameplay :)

Submitted(+1)

I had the opposite problem of the others, after I got too many robbers their heat bar wouldn't go back down. Really fun though! Good twist on the idle-managing genre!

Developer(+1)

Well I would have to look into that specifically. Ik theory the heat will rise and fall at identical rates. But I am glad you liked it :)

Cool game ! I like that the balance makes it hard to put everything in one operation.

Developer

yes i tried hard to get the balance right, both in not getting busted, and i when to buy new operations and when to add to an existing one. This took way longer than i expected :)

Hi, I loved the game. I hugely love the gangsters theme and the game looks very promising. The "Evidence" mechanic is very interesting and when you have a few "businesses" you really feel like Vito Corleone. I think that if you decide to finish this game - i'll be great. Good luck :D

Developer

Thats awesome man, so glad you liked it! :)

I really like the different concept on this game, this is a really good Idle-managing game and a nice approach to the jam theme. Congratulations on your little baby, super cool! I would like to have like a metagame where you have any kind of milestones, once you reach certain point is just managing the bars and that's all. BUT, still a great game! Congrats!!!

Developer

How do you imagine this metagame? :)

Submitted(+1)

I like it, it's fun and well executed. The presentation is clear and enjoyable.

The pausing mechanic is well implemented into the game.

I've been busted a few times while drinking my tea, no time for that haha :).

Developer

Glad you enjoyed it! :)

I had a lot of fun playing this, a nice idle game, but like other commenters i found that after a certain amount of operations running the heat bar did not increase and I could just buy as many of that operation as I wanted. The graphics and audio are absoultely ace, i really loved how it looked and sounded, and the tutorial explained everything well in a way that made sense in-game. I definitely played more of this than i should have. Great game!

Developer(+1)

Damn, I actually thought that I had addressed this, Christ.. Well it is done now, by the power of negative exponential functions the problem is solved. Hope that improves things :D

Submitted(+1)

I had fun, really cool take on idle games. Some thing I noted is that after 20ish? of a single operation the heat meter would break and I could keep it on forever. Cool icon designs btw, really cool. Oh and something that would have been nice is not to be put into the home menu when I buy an operation.

my high-score btw :3

Developer(+1)

DAAAAAAAMN! You broke the game, lol! I actually did not get that far ever, but I can see why the heat bar could break.. damn.. Well played my guy :D

Submitted

Really fun game my dood, I enjoyed breaking it quite alot. The income popups get laggy in "the late game"

Developer(+1)

Yes, there were no limits on the amount of animation each operation can init, so it was one for each operation (multiplied by how many of each operation you had), and they all stacked :D

Developer(+1)

I found out the issue, I had forgotten to Clamp the value, so it literally had no minimum. So each operation lowered the step of the heat bar, and it was able to go negative :D

Also fixed that horrible plus coins animation line :D

good stuff my dood. Fun entry!
