The demo is so polished, congrats !! Love the humor, art, battle system and characters (s/o to Jobulle), keep it up !!

Thx a lot king !! 😌✨

Great concept and execution !! It was really fun to play (we played together with my friend, she typed and i recited the words in advance so we could be more efficient and win lmao)

I looove the atmosphere and concept !! It works really well

Thank youuu !!

Thank your for playing our game !! Yeah we wanted the players to memorize the words at each attemps, as much as typing fast, it's cool that you noticed that!

Thank youuu my dear Maraj !! 😌♥

Thank you !! ✨✨

Thank you !!  😌

Thanks for playing !!

Thanks for playing our game Phaspez !! ✨

Thanks for playing our game !!

Thank you sooo much for you comment !! We're glad you enjoy your play time on Back Off 😌

Thank youu !!! 💥😌

Thank you Sporozowen !! Yeaaah it's fun ! It's even funnier bcse when we brainstormed what game to do for the jam,  one of our last three concepts was a dating sim with phone messages and the same POV, just like yours !! But our dating sim concept was as interesting and original as your game, so i'm glad we chose the "BACK OFF !!" concept !!

Thank you for your comment !! Yes we saw this bug only after we posted the game (which was problematic, since it could hide some words the player have to type and the 20s timer), we just patched now now it's working, it's niceee

Thank youuu !! ✨

Haha i love that you found the game cathartic !! Thanks for your comment it means a lot !!

Thanks a looot for your advice !! That's our first time using Godot, so we didn't know how to patch this important problem ; it's patched thx to you now ! 😌

We're glad you enjoyed the game !!

Awesome game w/ really pretty graphics and cutscenes + a well done atmosphere, u nailed it!!

Le zine est trop trop chouette & l'adaptation en format digital est top! :)

A really really nice game experience!! Really charming characters and story; the synergy between visual art, sound design and writing is really great c:

The gloomy and oniric ambiance was really really cool and inspiring! Loved the chara designs too 😌🌹✨

(I planted 599 flowers, and got the Indigo rose and pendant; i guess i missed one key object??)

Thank you!! 🥰🥰

un banger tout simplement!!!!! !! !! ! !!!

It was really cool to play, loved the pixel art and writing!!! :)

tout casser...... .. .

uwu

Très très cool, j'ai beaucoup aimé!! Je suis fan du style graphique, de la bande-son et des persos (coup de coeur pour Alsacienne), c'était une super expérience c:

Tout bonnement renversant.

            Hello!!

For this DevTober, I want to realize a point'n'click game on GDevelop., based on a concept I'm working on for a charadesign class.
This will be my first game working as a solo dev. Actually I'm a game & level design student based in France, and I've worked on three game jams before, mainly on graphism and animation.

🌝  What is Be Part of My Design ?

It's game taking place in a dystopic and surrealist world. You, the player, are grafted to another body, living as a parasite. You wake up in the middle of nowhere, no sign of life in sight, not knowing why you are here. You're realizing that the other head, Midas, is talking to you, but you can't answer, you only have control of his arms.
Not being able to do anything else, other than look around, you will have no choice but to cooperate with this stranger, making you perform tasks that you don't even understand the meaning.

This game will flirt with horror, influence by Hylics, and other Mason Lindroth's works. It will contained a bit of narration and five mini games. The title may change.

          👁  Softwares I'm going to use :
I'll work on GDevelop for programming, Photoshop and TVPaint for the graphisms.

          🚀  My goal :
Developping and finishing a small game by myself, a minimum pleasant to play, and graphically cool (to me). To be honest I'm not even sure I'll finish the game in time, but I'll do my best to do so.

          🦑  Now? :
Here I'm still working on the game design and planning what to do. It's been a week or two that I think about participating to DevTober, but just before I participated in a local game jam.

In next updates, I wish to present you more about the lore, the graphic and game design researches. I'll try to update this topic once or twice every week. See yooou!

Un chef d'oeuvre.

The graphic design is elegant (I don't how but I feel it could have been a bit more improved, to be a bit more detailed/interesting and fitting to the game atmosphere,  but it's good as it is) Btw i LOVE the 3 heads logo.

The graphics are nice, and espcially I find the "Pause" side of your game really, really well thaught.

Thank you for your feedback!! I'm glad you like the chosen musics and sound effects (i thought the sound FX are kinda "cheap") and that a nice atmosphere emerges; i guess it the whole (including the visuals) gives a kind of 2000s RPG Maker games vibe or something like that x)

(if you want here is a "fake" gameplay  done on After Effects, in which i setted the art as we intended during the jam (we couldn't implemented everything well at time) ;)    :     https://youtu.be/CmdOYf9AABY  )

Thank you for your feedback!!

The game was intentionnally done as "non-ambitious", because it was our first game jam working with someone else, our goal was only to finish the game in time, no matter it was specially fun or interesting :)

I don't think we will work on this game again, but I totally agree with you that it deserves to have more complex mechanics (like different behaviors for each type of chess pieces , for example), etc etc

Thanks!!

(here is a link to a "fake" gameplay  of the game, in which the art is setted as we intended  (we couldn't implemented everything well at time), and the animations are more visible on my last post on instagram) https://youtu.be/CmdOYf9AABY

Yes, it would have been more interesting to have different behaviors depending specific to eac kind of chess pieces!

Thank youuu!! Here is a "fake" gameplay  done on After Effects, in which i setted the art as we intended during the jam (we couldn't implemented everything well at time) :)

You can find it here ! (we didn't make it :') )

Thank you so much!!

If  you want, I did a fake gameplay video, in which you can see what the game should have look, and there are a kind of "defeat the king animation" and a victory screen (you can see better the animation in my last Instagram post too)

And you can find the music here ;)     :
