The game looks and feels really well made overall. I had a bit of trouble with finding words at times, which made it harder than I expected, but overall it’s a great game and I’ll probably come back to it later on.

Developer

Thanks so much for playing I’ll try to post devlogs to keep you and everyone interested updated

Really enjoyed this game and looks super polished

Excellently polished game, great visuals, sounds and general presentation. The actual gameplay is nice but the grid needs to predict possibilities more to make finding longer words more possible. The difficulty makes the relatively long sessions required to reach the end a bit tedious so checkpoints after the level 10 boss for example would be good. Great jam game!

A save system will definitely be implemented. I envision this game to be played casually and when someone needs to turn off their phone they have the right to come back to their game state. Thanks for playing!

Nice entry Finished it, took me a while to understand that enemy attack damage changed after each word - Really polished (just some minor overflow with tooltips. Great job!

Developer

I’ll try to make the enemy UI much clearer. Thanks for playing happy you won your run :)

Cool game.  Nice polish.

It was fun to play. Got through all 20 rounds. I was a bit worried that I might end up in a state where there were no words to play but apparently there are a lot of 3 letter words that you can just guess. This is probably why I lose at scrabble!

Developer

I’ll probably add something to help incentivize longer words and maybe a power up that shows hints for longer words! Thank you for playing glad you enjoyed

Your game is awesome! Even though I’m not fluent in English, I had a blast playing it and thought it was really well made. Plus, the overall design looks great—I really dig those vector-style graphics. Keep up the great work!

Developer

I'll definitely look into multiple language support, thank you for playing

This was incredible. I found it hard to stop playing! The balance felt good with the reshuffling of the letter board. Great entry well done.

Developer

I put a lot of time into the shuffling and reroll animations so I’m happy it paid off. Thanks for playing

Very polished and nice! not exactly my type of game but I enjoyed it and it has great music and sounds.

Really great idea for a game, great execution and good use of theme. I enjoyed the riff on scrabble.

A very smooth and clean game, very well thought out, I enjoy it!

Absolutely cute! A small handicap when it comes to forming words for those who aren’t very comfortable with English. Still, it’s fun, intuitive, and has a beautiful aesthetic!

Developer(+1)

I will have to look into multiple language support for sure!

Wow! Impressive!

With more features added I could buy this game to play on my mobile as a time killer. Awesome game, especially as a jam project, impressive.

Developer

I have a lot more features planned. I will definitely focus on mobile for this game. Thanks for playing glad you enjoyed

Great work! I'm a sucker for word games x) I may be a little biased here, but it was fun overall

Wow, what a unique idea! Loved it and such a creative way to combine two very addicting concepts

..almost forgot to post a comment 💛

This is such a cool idea for the jam theme! The combination of Bookworm-style word building with roguelike combat mechanics works surprisingly well, and the gameplay loop feels really addictive 😄

I especially liked how forming connections between letters directly impacts combat — it makes the theme feel naturally integrated into the gameplay instead of just being visual flavor.

The artifact/special tile system also adds a lot of replay potential, and honestly the whole project already feels very polished for a jam game. The UI is clean, easy to understand, and the progression feels satisfying.

I could totally see this becoming a full game with more mechanics and content. Great job!

Developer(+1)

I’m happy you enjoyed the different mechanics of the game. Thank you for your feedback and for playing. I hope to see it become a full game

Very nice game! Impressive how polish it is. Nice upgrades, good pace, no bugs. Well done!

Very well done game!

Just beat level 20, whlie I only wanted to test games for like 5 minutes, oopsie.
Very smooth graphics and animations, sounds are fitting, music is not annoying.
It all looks very polished and with some achievements or leaderboards I can see this in an app store and people play it.

one thing though:

In this situation, I could't pick the 9/9 skeleton

In this situation, I could't pick the 9/9 skeleton, it only clicked the others. But that's the only bug I fould.

If I may ask two questions, out of curiosity:
1. How do you make sure a word is valid? Do you have a big dictionary in the background you got from somewhere, or does it check online?
2. When dropping new letters, are they entirely random, or did you weigh letters differently, so you get more frequently used letters more often?

Very good job on this(rated this very good as well).

Developer

Thanks for the kind words :) I also caught that bug and there is a lot to improve on. I agree that leaderboard and some kind of stat tracking would be great to have. To answer your questions

1) I got the word DB from https://github.com/dwyl/english-words. Since the file is 479k words, when the game launches I add all of the words into a Set for O(1) lookup time. The file itself was about 5MB, so many words but sometimes I still find some that fail or some that are questionable and I cannot find a definition online.

2) Letters are weighted when spawning, less frequent letters spawn less. For special tiles, there is a chance whether the tile is drawn from your inventory or not. When you get an "E" for example, I reduce the "E" weight so that you aren't so encumbered.
