The reflection across the walls were very nice to look at and the whole game looks good , great job

Thanks for playing.

Almost quit the game like 3 times because I couldn't make it past the first room, but came back eventually to try again and did get pretty far. It was a fun game, and even though the double jump was a bit unresponsive, I learned that jumping earlier is better to get a double jump consistently. Also, you're a little troll for sending me back to the beginning, though I wish checkpoints were reusable because of that, since I got the checkpoint at flappy bird, just to go back to check out the troll, only to not be able to get the checkpoint at flappy bird anymore.

Developer

So, did you completed the game or just quit? I put that troll for fun, I am sorry if you got frustrated, the game it intentionally HARD, and you was just one checkpoint away from completing it.

By the way, thank you for playing.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

I restarted and didn't go for the troll that time. I did it though, and it was a lot smoother in that second run. So yeah, I made it to the end eventually.

Congratulations 🎉 for getting Outside The Box 😁

The visuals were amazing

Thanks for reviewing my game

Interesting story! The maze was a nice touch as it's claustrophobic-ness made me really imbody the feeling of being trapped. The parkour being momentum based was challengingly fun too!! I had a feeling the exit sign was a trick, but curiosity still took hold of me.... The long checkpoint back is brutal but def deserved.

Not much critiques but I did accidently find a hole in the roof by the first lever that lets the player get outside the box early.

Developer

Thanks for playing my Game, and congratulations for actually going outside the box. I will upload this bug patch after the jam ends. Btw, thak you, glad you liked it.

I swear I have seen this game in my dreams and I don't know how

The game was fun, don't know if it was just my keyboard but it kept eating my input for the double jump and making me fall to my death, but when it worked I really enjoyed making perilous jumps across the goo and getting a bit of momentum. I will say, the giant maze in the middle with no recognizable landmarks and no way to track where you are and where you've been is a massive pace killer. After leaving that, though, I enjoyed the little bit left of the game, and the music was lovely too.

Developer(+1)

Thanks for reviewing,

The Game double jump not work everywhere in the game and the hardest part is “Green Anti-Matter Pool” level because you have to do precise second Jump just before you are about to touch acid else jump will not trigger.

Btw, thank you, glad you enjoyed the game.

Submitted(+1)

was really enjoyable and I liked the gameplay well done!

Developer

Thanks

The platforming was too hard for me honestly. And the double jump wasn't too responsive and wasn't properly explained either. Other than that pretty creative concept, have really good potential I think.

Developer

Thanks, many people are struggling with double jump but it’s intentionally hard but will definitely improve it in future.

😀I love the game! It's so much fun, though my little brother went totally crazy with the mouse while we played. The game makes me so frustrated sometimes, but the level design is beautiful and the sound effects are awesome😁

Developer

Thanks for playing, glad you liked it.

Your welcome😀

I like the lore, the portal like laboratory, and the slipperiness of the movement is just right. Other than the double jump issue, I think this game could really have used some music. Nice to see a physics platformer in the jam, and I hope you fix the double jump and continue improving the game after the jam!

Developer

Yes I will, thanks for reviewing.

I liked the lore behind the game. It did however feel difficult to control the ball while in the air. It was still fun trying to get to the end, but it was annoying for me at first.

Developer

Thanks for reviewing my work,

I know it’s hard to control the ball because it’s physics based movement, I got many reviews regarding control problem, and i will definitely improve it, it is my first time trying a jam and things like this but I will try my best.

I like the game & the story. The setting reminds me of a portal/ a lab environment, and the music goes well with the atmosphere of the overall game. The zones had variety in what you had to accomplish, my favorite being the flappy level, and I also liked the particles at the end; they look pretty stunning.

The second jump, at times, doesn't really feel consistent, and I feel like the movement should be a bit faster to complement the far jumps and slopes. Other than that, it's a solid game.

Developer

Thank you for playing,

I am working on the controls problem to make my game more fun and enjoyable. After the jam ends i will be able to re-upload the fixed version of the game.

Btw, thank for reviewing my work, and glad you liked it.

Super fun game! I really enjoyed the physics mechanics and that the ball felt like it had a real weight to it. However, I had some issues regarding double jump often not triggering (I see in your comments that this is due to ceiling height, but I think that is a bit unclear in the game) and being able to see outside the map when jumping too lose to the ceiling. I also got stuck in the first room because I didn't realize there was a double jump since it wasn't included in the initial mechanics list. Overall I think its a great story idea, game play, and levels!

Developer

Thanks For Review,

Most of the review has the same double jump problem but i currently can’t update my game during the jam, it’s my first game and first time participating in jam. so, I am learning and improving.

By the way, thanks for reviewing my work.

Fun platformer! I really liked the setting, being enclosed in the tight space and going down almost like air vent like tunnels was cool, and there's a hint of portal-esque test chamber type vibe.

The movement felt smooth, albeit sometimes the second jump wouldnt trigger or be a bit delayed which led to a couple of deaths. Only other thing I'd want is volume settings because the SFX could be a little loud! Also have to say I really liked the sound design at the end of the game, super cool!

Solid foundation though, could easily see expansion with more levels and building on what you've got with more variety, music, etc :D

Developer

Thank You, Glad you liked it.

I had fun playing this. I really like platformers and the physics based movement felt pretty nice to use. I also thought the concept was unique enough to draw me in, at most the only real complaint I could give is about the video pitch. The start should be interesting enough to get people to stop scrolling and I didn't really get that from the short. But that's just me nitpicking. All in all great job on this!

Developer

Thanks for review, I am first time participating in jam and i also don’t know video editing, i have no team so, i have to do everything myself.

Btw, thank you for playing :)

Feels like something off cool maths games, pretty cool really, I love the look, I think the game could be spiced up more if you moved faster or rolled faster down hills. But I like it very nostalgic. I hope it gets top 50

Developer

Thanks for rating, i hope i can get at least top 100 but it’s too hard. By the way your game is cool and also may ratings i wish you got top 3 at least,

Thank You for Review, i really appreciate it :)

Very nice looking game, but the movement can feel somewhat temperamental, e.g. double jump not triggering or varying in power. Really like the idea behind the game though, and when working the mechanics were very satisfying.

Developer

Thank you for playing, movement is fully physics based that’s why sometimes it feels off, I am working on it to make it better, maybe able to update it after the jam ends.

btw, thank for reviewing my work.

Yeah, that makes sense. You're welcome!

Starting your game now and it instantly reminds me of Marble Madness. :D (I’m old)

  • I was stuck in this room with the green floor a bit before I realized there is a double jump.
  • Thank you for making a checkpoint system.
  • The double jump is feeling a little inconsistent. Sometimes it doesn’t trigger and it’s unclear why, and sometimes the height of the second jump is big and sometimes very small
  • I like the look of the star and the light it emits.

Cool game! I did have to give up eventually on this room: https://img.itch.zone/aW1hZ2UvNDQzNjU2OS8yNjQzNTM3MS5wbmc=/original/%2BSg2xX.png because of the double jump not working right for me.

Good luck with the jam!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your review.

The room is not for full double jump, to pass that room you need to jump again just before you are about to fall in the green acid on each platform.

Jump works according to the hight of celing in the game.

It’s little bit hard i know but with practice you can do it. My record in game is 5 min and 37 seconds. If you complete it then definitely tell me.

btw, thank for review :)

The movement felt a bit strange sometimes but I really liked the visual effect when the player dies so I was okay with dying a bunch

Developer (1 edit)

Thank You for review, the movement is fully physics based that’s why it feels buggy sometimes. I will improve it after jam ends because I currently can’t edit uploads.

Submitted(+1)

Hey, I tried your game and I really like the idea and setting, escaping as a star is a cool concept

The visuals and effects, especially the death effect, look really nice. Movement felt a bit tricky to get used to at times, but I can see what you’re going for with the physics

Nice work overall, especially as a solo project

I’m also in the jam, so if you get a chance to check my game I’d love to hear your thoughts

Thank You for your review, glad you liked it. I will definitely check your game :)
