The visuals are so good! I really enjoyed the flashing lights and the atmosphere quite a bit. I did notice that there are some overlapping models in the elevator at one of the points when the lights are lit up, so some texture fighting is going on there lol. But I really immediately enjoyed the atmosphere. It reminded me of the caves in the mining level of banjo-tooie

I would highly recommend adding an option to change the font, it was nearly impossible for me to read.

One final note on polish, I would love to see some particle effects when mining ore, just to show the player that they are having an effect!

As far as actually playing the game goes, I think it would be really cool to make a bigger deal out of the cave ins! Making the audio a bit louder, and more directional so I can hear where the cave in is happening, as well as a small amount of screen shake would really draw my attention to it!

I also thinking making it so the player can't get stuck early on (I got trapped in the bowie room) would be nice just to avoid it being annoying. Happening later on once you are already hooked into what the game is asking of you makes it easier to go "dang, guess I'll try again".

Overall great job, especially seeing as this is your first 3D game :)

Appreciate you Playing :) and I agree with everything you said here, the Text is atrocious,  is actually the main thing brought up and is very true. the overlapping in the elevator is also in my notes of things to fix. a particle effect is a good idea for the mining, definately need some player feedback there. Screen shake was planned but didnt end up focusing on it but would definately make the collapses feel more real. Thank You Again :)

Vibes were definitely creepy! The voice acting was quite effective and the ambient music was really good too. I eventually got stuck I think? I was having a lot of trouble keeping track of my location, thought that's normal for me with this type of game ^^;

The special chest items were a fun addition! I got the pizza slice and two different vinyls :)

Developer

Absolutely Normal, the cave is set up to act like a labrynth. so losing track of where you are going is definately just part of the game. Thank you for playing <3

Post QA;

Visual alright, sound design carried, overall game disappointing on how I kept either die or getting soft locked and not only that there is no stamina gauge and no imminent visual impact before getting crushed by the rock/gloop/whatever the black rock is. Given the fact that it’s your first godot game it was a big lead which I commend you for.

I’ve unfortunately got my hopes up only to notice that there is first few flaws followed by visual distraction over the light-dim of the whole lighting in the game which contribute to the fact one couldn’t probably know where they’re going when the rock decided to land at the place.

If I’ve been found to repeat myself theres only a few that really kept the game going, I don’t know where the high praise came from but you did good for a working game. If needed coherent list of the problem I would be more than glad to send it to you on DMs

Great job!

I was definitely feeling claustrophobia in there. The sound of the cave ambiance plus the collapses and heartbeat and the often pitch-black lighting all combined to put me on edge. It took a really long time to gather materials to craft anything but otherwise great job on your first Godot game and 3D game! Oh ya nice vinyl collection, too. Really great work for your first 3D game!! Great job. My only critique is that the font was really hard to read.

Really great work for your first 3D game. I love games with looting and upgrade systems, you did a great job with that, and adding the radio voice gave it a nice immersive touch. The mechanics are really well done. My only small complaint gameplay-wise is that having to mine so many walls at the beginning without upgrades feels a bit tedious, and it takes quite a while to get upgrades, which made me feel like I was playing a clicker game. But don't get me wrong, this work is excellent, and considering the time limit and that it was your first time with Godot and 3D, I congratulate you—you have my respect. Keep it up!!!

Nice game! I really like the progression system and how the mine falling apart forces you to move fast. I’d love to see an indicator showing when I can click again to keep mining so I can time it better, but maybe that’s just a me thing XD. Congrats on the entry! :D

That is crazy how much content is in this.  I hope you continue on with this game! I think it has some good bones to it!

In a vacuum, super fun game with some cool mechanics, but the fact that this is not only the dev's first game made in Godot, but also first 3D game at that, is WILD! Crazy impressive! The loot you pick up is hilarious; 2 people in chat said they would trust the cave pizza and eat it.

I would LOVE to see this turned into a full game, and I feel like it would play really well into being fully fleshed out as a proper roguelike. Hope to see you expand this game and/or whatever other future games you work on!

Agreed with the others, the amount of content in here is amazing. I actually really liked the art, and the sound was absolutely spot on. I had a great time playing this, and honestly if it was a full game I feel like I could sink some real time into it. Well done to the whole team, especially considering it was your first 3D game.

Developer

and First time with Godot was a blast to make, thank you for the input and for playing :) just me and the Sound Designer who did absolutely amazing work couldnt have pulled it all together without him. We do plan to continue this project in the near future we have alot of lore and stuff that we werent able to get in here so really looking forward to that <3

I find the amount of content in this game to be astonishing, there are genuine layers to this! The visuals could use some work, especially the darkness towards the start, but the audio is done quite well and the mine collapsing adds some nice tension. Bonus points for humor: the item descriptions and the length of the elevator ride made me chuckle.

Developer

Appreciate the kind words :) Thank You for Playing! Our Sound Designer did amazing work <3

Nice job, well done.

The font is bit hard to read.

I agree, Thank you for Playing :)

Overall I liked this but there were a few things:

The instructions for the game were really hard to read.  I had to lean in to make out what it was saying.  I did like that it showed up when I could interact with items though.  The lighting made it difficult to see and I had a hard time seeing objects, this is were the instructions popping onto the screen was useful.  I would have missed several items had the instructions not popped up.

On the mining, I was unsure if the mining was doing anything.  It took a lot of strikes to mine anything.  I did like that wall broke off as you mined them.  I also like the voice over the radio.

Overall it was difficult to know what the goal was but it has a lot going for it.

Developer

Thank you for playing :) the pickaxe does have upgrades to make mining alot better and theres torches you can craft for light to help. the lack of direction was semi intentional due to it being a horror game but I do understand being confused by it. and yeah the text sucks I definitely agree

Oh I did not even see the pickaxe upgrades.  That is fun.  Yeah we had trouble with the confuse aspect for our game too, so I get it.  Saving your game so I can see updates.

Boy, I'm gonna sound like an old rambling man, but here goes:

The font choices are questionable. I can barely make out what any of the text says.

The fading lights are not done in a way that maintains tension - there's no immediate or indirect danger, but the player has his sight taken away every few seconds, and that makes traversal frustrating rather than tense.

The game doesn't make it very clear what it wants from the player. To gather resources? To just go forward? There's a crafting station early, but there's seemingly no use for it. Do I stay and look for more resources that are hidden? I feel like that works to the detriment of a gamejam game, where people only give it a few minutes unless they're really hooked.

I did laugh at the pizza slice, though.

Developer

I definately agree on the font, the lights the way they are was a temporary solution, the goal was to drive the player to craft a torch due to darkness causing sanity drain, but that wasnt very clear in any way so definately need alot of work. Thank you for playing and giving honest input :)
