This is incredible! Love the whole lore behind it and how it's serious and silly all in one. v engaging gameplay, tho I'll admit i got a bit frustrated w some of the levels. but ig i just need to practice my kegels more

This is the future liberals want. I have this on good authority.

There's something to be said for a story that takes a completely ridiculous premise, but then plays it as straight as humanly possible. The way this escalates makes total sense, while also being deeply bizarre. It's a fascinating combination, and it works. The gameplay is great, I loved how varied the level design is. You've really gotten a lot out of a relatively simple set of mechanics here.

I wonder if Jacob Geller is going to do a follow-up to his Games About Jews video...

I was not prepared for that final paragraph of the opening. If I had been drinking I would have definitely did a spit take. The character writing was pretty solid and there was little moments that got me chuckle (or wince at how painfully real they were. That "I heard she did something problematic", had to close my eyes for a second there. Really how it be). I rather like that the golfing aspect was made casual rather than punishing. I did think level 8 represented a very sharp spike in difficulty having to pull off a little rebound shot.

I look forward to the world being able to enjoy kegel golf in peace and harmony. RIP moon tho...

I like the colorful pixelated art, arcade sounds and presentation. Political humor in fiction isn't quite my thing, but I think plenty of others will appreciate how over-the-top the narrative gets. The controls felt solid with plenty of guides and indicators, little interactions like landing the ball on a bird are neat!

This game rocks and I couldn’t stop grinning at the storyline, which had really fun witty writing while not pulling punches in a way that made the win really, really satisfying to show some transphobes who’s boss. Not only that, but it really integrated with the goofy yet engaging gameplay, which was also really well done in a way I have pretty much no complaints about. I even got invested in getting good at the game functionality towards the end. I was already kind of in awe how put together this was as a game jam game in the first few levels.

I do think it may have been nice to have more explicit a transphobia warning at the beginning for the faint-hearted, but it is crucial to the crux of the game’s story, and as the game states, it is a reality we cannot avoid. And it’s got a feel good ending, so I’m not too torn about it personally!

All-in-all you are the wittiest, funniest game dev ever. Trans women stay winning!!!!!!!!!!

My head is spinning both from the story and the mechanics. Ngl, I sucked at this and cannot figure out why the arrows point where they do... but hey I got a birdie on every hole so that's a 9/9 from me!

Being able to kegel planetary objects in half was not on my list of things I’d ever achieve, but here we are.

This was a game I was really excited to get my hands on, and I’m so glad I got to experience it! The controls don’t take much to get a hang of, and the gameplay innovates without being too imposing. Hole 8 was brutal (I scored 36 on there, oof) but even hitting that wall I didn’t stop having fun. Usually I find Pico-8 games a bit clunky, but I really didn’t run into that here!

I agree with the other comments that this game seems to really walk the line between satire and political commentary - especially not having much experience with the religion this game concerns itself with, it left me at points not quite sure if I should be laughing. Did VERY much appreciate the “ignore the transphobes” message, and the intro fact cards for characters introduced was incredible.

It doesn’t feel like this is a game for me, but I am glad I spent time with it and think the jam is better off for it having existed.

Oh look, a little Pico-8 golf game, but sexy! This ought to be a silly bit of lighthearted fun. Is what I was thinking until, oh, five seconds into the prologue, which IMMEDIATELY lets me know this isn't the golf game I was expecting.

Except it kind of is! Because the golf gameplay is incredibly solid, and would completely stand on its own even without a story at all! But of course, it does have a story, and that story is one of the most savage works of social/political/religious satire I've ever seen. In a Pico-8 golf game! Easily one of my favorite games in the entire jam.

I need to stop tearing up at nsfw games, dammit.
I suck at golf games, but I held strong for the brilliant writing and the final birdie that Lilith so deserved. Gameplay is as perfect as the rest of it.

A transphobia warning would have been nice, I didn't expect this much hatred on screen since the CW only said "discussion of transness".

What a gem of a game.
I had so much fun playing!
And the writing was not heavy nor too light.
Kudos.

This rules actually, had several moments where I laughed out lout and the ongoing 'birdie on every hole' joke getting called out in-text was great. Extremely funny, extremely novel-- Note said 'cohesive' and that's definitly the right word, it just comes together very well and everything works.

My only hitch is just that the direction arrow is a little fast. For the whole game it's not too much of an issue but I distinctly had a hard time with the final level because aiming for the flag is a bit difficult. It could just be my reaction time or the fact I thought I had to aim for the flag instead of the moon proper, but when I saw the 'use 200%' hint i was wondering if an aim hint might help as well.

Omg this is absolutely incredible. It's amazing that you made something so wild and weird so cohesive. I've been excited to play this since seeing the first hints of it in the discord and it was SO MUCH more than I ever expected. The writing is razor sharp, topical, unflinching, and had me laughing out loud from the intro through the whole game. The birdie birdie was a hilarious find, and the last hole was so epic, I loved all the cheers of support, it was so imaginative and effective. I think the original Celeste just got knocked off from being my favorite thing made on pico 8!

Probably my favourite game I've played for the jam! So much heart and care went into this game and it manages to cover a lot of complex subject matter in a way that feels vulnerable and genuine.

there is a lot to say about this game.

so the gameplay itself is awesome. i love how the different areas (fairway, rough, etc) feel different in terms of physics and graphics. in general the golf physics feel pretty nice. the overall game concept is incredible.

i really like the feeling of shooting the golf shots. the little leg-closing animation is very satisfying.

the last shot in the game is both cinema and also something that i actually sort of missed on my first playthrough. i had accidentally discovered the >100% behavior beforehand and just sort of naturally assumed i should do that to shoot the moon, so i didn't get to see the limp shots that miss or the crowd cheering you on, and so forth. all of those mechanics are a very cool send-off to the game.

the quicksand is a cool material. it really embodies the sort of tropey "oh no quicksand!!" thing in a mechanical way.

the story for the game is very interesting. the very first slide i was definitely hooked. registering your neovagina as a lethal weapon is a great line.

the second slide was extremely confusing to me the first time i played through. it mentions "ms. mary sue" which i figured must be referring to the player character, as that is the only character we've seen at that point who is female and has the last name mary sue. so i figured this slide must be from the perspective of a new character, who is maybe referring to us in the past? but no, it turns out "ms. mary sue" is herself a new character, and i believe we never actually learn her first name.

so, i think the writing for that part could be slightly clarified somehow.

this also might just be my inner maya keshet, but it was probably harder for me to figure out who exactly "ms. mary sue" was supposed to be because she was apparently both our teacher at 11? 13? years old and also someone we now want to kiss. ultimately my reading of this relationship is that it is perhaps intentionally a bit strange? that the point of it is that, even if it looks fucked up from the outside, that doesn't invalidate lilith's right to self determination--self determination to transition, and self determination to live her life in general. i hope i'm not completely misreading the game here.

in general i think there is a power to simply saying out loud one of the true facts of trans rights: for lilith, it is her own life to live. nobody else gets a say in it, even if they are the head of the pussy golf association or the jewish matriach, etc.

i feel there is an interesting tension between two others facets of the story: one, our protagonist is apparently agnostic-ish now, but two: a holy curse does literally exist and it is apparent to the protagonist. i think i would describe myself as either agnostic or an atheist, but if i felt an actual curse in my pussy, i would probably rethink things. (to be fair, she doesn't actually mention whether or not her faith was affected after feeling the curse).

overall the story is an absolutely wild ride. i am still not exactly sure what to think of it. that is beautiful in its own way.

a couple other comments about the writing:

  • the little fact sheets for each character are delightful.
  • the exploration of the ways various people talk about trans rights is very real. all three of the competitors seem to embody a very particular kind of person.
  • i do think naming your character mary sue is awesome.

Thank you so much for the kind words and comprehensive feedback!! It means so much to me that people have been enjoying this game, and I think you make a lot of keen points. Ms. Mary Sue, the teacher, was a relatively late addition I made to make the story's ethos more consistent, so your notes it being confusing in the text scrawl is especially helpful. I've worked on a lot of games before but not so much writing stories so I tried hard to get it right.

Impeccable. Just impeccable. That last shot... Pure Cinema. Nothing else. Excellent work.

Art should disturb the comfortable and comfort the disturbed.
Great golf game, did not expect as much religious and social commentary as there was, but it was not unwelcome by any means. The game had me reeling reading some of the dialogue written for this, but it was very well done. Solid ending. Here's to another 1000 years of peace.

This Is one of the greatest pieces of art in the 21st centuary. A better game will not be made for another 1000 years

Finally a mature game on par with my intellectual level. Although I have to say it's hard to tell the line between genuine satire and political commentary at times.

That said, it was fun and hilarious. Some holes are way too difficult however, I was almost softlocked on certain levels, namely the fifth and the seventh. The last level was an experience for sure xD

This is a Hole Lot.  It's a wild and interesting story, really aggressive.  And the golf mechanic is really tight [hehehe]

really really interesting!

I am genuinely stumped as to whether I should treat this game as a work of parody or as a sincere message. On the one hand, this game's story is so insane that I can't help but laugh at the lines and how wild it gets, but also I've known actual people who do believe some things on this level so I have no idea. What I will say is that this is a very competently made golf game, with fun level design, intuitive gameplay, and although I don't understand it, I do appreciate it.
