Amazing music

tight controls and nails the retro NES theme!

one minor thing I noticed tho, didn't use the sword at all for the boss battle and there was a sword displayed in the cutscene

Really fun take on the theme and some pretty fun puzzles.

can't have designed and scoped a better game for a jam. the simplicity of the visuals and the polish is great, and the witch narrative was a nice touch to reward the player for finishing the game

Such a slick and satisfying little puzzle platformer. Loved the variety of weapons like the flail. Nice job!

Man this was such a satisfying game to play! The overall presentation is superb and the music absolutely slaps. The mechanics are very simple but used to create some very good puzzles! Great game!

Ahhhh awesome !! I really love everything about this  from the funny dialogue and opening cutscene to the clever puzzles slick tunes and charming pixel art. Good use of theme as well, definitely one of my favourites I've played this jam !! ^-^

Top 3 games I’ve played this jam for sure (and I’ve played like 50 at this point lol). It feels less like a gamejam game and more like a fun puzzle platform which was made, finished, and then released because it’s what the author wanted to make. I’m extremely impressed.

Holy crap!! Some game jam titles are exceptional, and then there’s this game. 'Getting out of Hand' didn’t just “work,” it cooked. The core idea, “Throw stuff, reposition yourself, outsmart the room”, sounds simple on paper, but in execution it made you feel like a galaxy-brained puzzle god.

This game is minimalism done to perfection. You gave the player one character, two toys, and three mechanics, and with that somehow managed to build a whole world. A world where everything feels cohesive, intentional, and way more “Share this steam page?” than “Compiled at 3 AM… the F**K debug messages still in there.”

The ZX Spectrum-era look was called clean and stylish. The cutscenes and formant voice were just hilarious little developer flexes. PyGame FTW! But what brought it to the next level was the music. While I’m writing this, the end credits are still playing. I had a couple of times when the music stopped, but for me it was more of a reminder that I took longer than the average player. “Focus, dammit, focus.” In short, even the presentation screamed “showroom shine” rather than “please ignore this duct tape.”

The puzzles felt fair, never too hard, and the learning curve was smooth. That’s a big deal. The weapon mechanics were obvious, deterministic, and satisfying. The difficulty mostly hit that sweet spot between “Ah… I got this” and “Eh… maybe it’s not that obvious.” My main critiques? A few setups leaned a bit hard on the same trick, spike hitboxes were occasionally out for blood, and the boss showed up like it really had somewhere else to be. But that’s not damage-control territory… that’s opportunity knocking with a battering ram.

All you need to do now is add a couple more weapons, a couple more puzzle elements, waaaay more levels, meaner bosses with phases, save games, and customizable controls. But my guess is that you already have that in mind.

Please sir, I mauled the witch. May I have some more levels?

Damn, this is probably one of the best entries this year

I can't find anything that could have been done better in the given timeframe, so I'm sorry if I can't contribute any kind of constructive feedback :(

It's polished, the soundtrack rocks and the gameplay is simple, but feels great

Also, both the intro and ending are just amazing

Everyone needs to play this, excellent job, way too slick!

This is a good concept executed well! I wasn't stalled at puzzles too long when I was, the mechanics were quick enough to pick up, nothing felt impossible to overcome out of lack of platforming ability, nothing like that. Most of my issues stemmed from being a wasd guy learning zxc. Shoutout to Pygame as well.

Loved it, think the art style is impressive, and I'd love to play more lvls!

What a great game. I love how many creative levels you were able to create without repeating yourself. The music and vfx are also very nice! Increadible Work!

What the heck?! This is so underrated!! I only launched the game and the music was already such a bop that I just sat in menu for 3 minutes. All the levels are designed so smartly, like it’s unbelivable how well they’re made. The level of difficulty in each one felt just right. Making a good puzzle platformer is not easy so big props for managing to do it in such a short time. The story does the job and is very well executed, making full cutscenes is just flexing at this point :D Just amazing! 10/10

Developer

Thanks for the compliments! The credit for the music all goes to the composer, CordialChicken. Without his help, this game would be a lot worse.

I'm really impressed by the cohesion of everything - the retro looking art, the music, and the fact that you had cutscenes and a story behind the gameplay! The puzzle tools you included are really cool, it'd be really neat to see more weapons and how they work in an expanded release. Fantastic job!
