Rest in peace Jerry!!!
Sometimes the box can get stuck in a wall, also it took me some time to figure out that the small blue dots needed to be put in the cardboard box so I could push it toward the door and reach the door.
The resetting is cuz the variables are tracked inside the scenes which unfortunately resets many important ones. I realized this towards the later end of development and ported some variables over to global variables but we ran out of time to fix it fully.
If you look in the message portion of the game (by clicking on the white envelope from the map screen) and switch to the help tab, there are guides on how the logic node system, upgrade system, and battle encounters function.
You can click and drag blocks onto the gridspace to construct your own ships. You'll need at least one green core block or you can't save or load the ship. If the core gets destroyed the whole ship explodes. The white bricks are hull fragments and the orange diamonds are shooty turrets.
I can paste in the help tips in the description as well.
P.S. thanks for testing it even in its currently buggy build!
The audio makes me feel nauseous but the part building is really cool! I love the little guy's facial expressions. The game softlocks if you remodel your guy in the beginning though and it would be great if there was a quick restart button. I'm not sure what's wrong with my browser but it was really laggy after I shot through the floor gate. The game my team made also had a part building feature but we still need to fix some gamebreaking bugs
Some more wheels would be nice if you die in the beginning, it's very easy to tip over
RCS controls are pretty accurate and responsive though the ship is very heavy and you can feel the inertia you need to overcome when angling to get the mining laser in focus. So the controls are accurate but also very unforgiving cuz the mining laser has no traverse. I thought I could use the mining laser on the asteroids but turns out I couldn't. Also could not figure out how to dock with the station and get upgrades
Played it on my browser, some slowdown when enemies were loading. I think I beat the game when the raccoons stopped spawning. The crossbow is overpowered though. Also, you can't see the bolts when they shoot. The mouse sensitivity could use a slider for sure, definitely took some getting used to (needs to be increased) I enjoyed the art and theming!
I wish there was an ability to pull boxes and not just push them. Couldn't get past level 3. Runs smoothly and looks visually cohesive. Challenging. The fire adds to a feeling of near death. On stream that one level with the twin chain of burning boxes, I could feel the frustration of having to restart if you aren't fast enough.
Couldn't beat the star carrier. Very smooth framerate for me. The turnspeed is really fast with a mouse so I could pull some really snap turns. Like humorously fast, the camera can't keep up. Challenging game. I did manage to make one of the orbs explode by shooting at it. Sound effects gave arcadey alien vibes. The sounds of the fighters moving past.
After you die, you can still move, can't restart. Found the rover, it's where the terrain slopes down. I could not find the mineral location though. When I'm in the rover, the inertia of the rover does not transfer to the player so I find myself sliding back or forward if moving in the opposite direction. Also, the rover seems to be pushable by player momentum while inside it. So if you walk to the right or the left the rover will turn in those directions.
The game reminds me of scanner sombre! I definitely felt that sense of crap where is the rover and wandered around and died before I found it the second time. The restricted vision and ticking oxygen.
Made it to level 6! I like the grappling hook mechanic, though the player is not incentivized to use it as it seems to be safer to shoot and scoot with the brake or perma thrust. Would be fun to be able to grapple onto the enemies or get maybe a point boost for doing so? Player should be able to restart faster.
