turned into an unproductive argument

It seems like there are just unpaid people who (for some reason) try to "help" on a voluntary basis by forwarding problems to the "admins", but even these volunteers have no idea what's going on! They just collect problems and ticket numbers and send them to who knows where. I think this is going to end up in a black hole!

Is there anyone at this company who is available and actually employed, has some insight and especially influence on things or is everyone (support, web developer, a technician, anyone?) "just" volunteers?!

I know (at least this is mentioned in several places) that this is a small company, but for heaven's sake.. I'm just saying that I don't want to know how the company works, but it's definitely starting to remind me of an abandoned ghost ship, where the crew (generating more trouble) acts in a haphazard manner on the captain's last orders (or maintaining the appearance of it) and tries to save what can be saved, but the captain has long since abandoned the ship...

You continue to ignore the rules of this category, where your question is answered directly! The people who work for itch.io don't watch this forum, won't see your post, and can't offer support except over e-mail!

On a personal note, I help people because that's what people do. They help each other. That's what this entire forum category is for. I'm not even the only one: redonihunter and hechelion (to name just two) make helpful posts at least as often and they don't even get any recognition.

We're not supposed to be doing this. There's no helpstaff role on the forum. We've just been on itch.io for a long time so we know how things work.

Yeah except people like me and many others are having this problem for over a month and nothing is being done and we have messaged support multiple times

I replied in your other topic. You didn't have to hijack this one too.

its crazy you look at it like that instead of the reality that the community is voicing they are being ghosted by admins for months, we are all communicating the issue. If this issue doesn't get solved and it becomes exposed people will do something about it. saying  things like that only serves to shame us for some reason? may to encourage us as a community to not be communicating with each other that this is INDEED a very real problem and effecting MANY people. I dont know how am i supposed to read that? You're annoyed that the community is up in arms over this happening? We have every right to be upset about this and communicate with each other and this is now the only way we CAN because of itchio mods. Im not HIJACKING anything. Itchio was hijacked by project shout and now admins are literally ghosting people. There are creators who aren't being paid. There are people complaining and MODERATORS OR ADMINS HAVE NOT MADE ANY POSTS ABOUT WHAT THEY ARE GOING TO DO ABOUT IT OR ADDRESSING IT. lmao hijacking  I didnt care when someone posted on MY topic.  ITS A COMMUNITY POST.

Moderator

...Community moderators can't do anything about it, and if admins don't reply, then who exactly are you yelling at?

I've notified our admins to read this topic too.

Yelling? That is an "assumption"!

(3 edits) (+2)

you ask who we are addressing with our questions over and over again, when you have already answered (forwarded the message) and we know for sure that the admins will not answer anyway (that's why we are here!)
In the topic: " anyone who is a real ITCH.IO employee"
You are a voluntary, not empoyee.

if I may allowe a personal question from people to people: Do you (No Time To Play) really expect us to be let this thing (our money!) go?
It is a YES or NO question!

And please don't say that this is allready answered (we should take the official channel), becouse this (and you too) will lead us in circles.

(1 edit)

I’m not attacking you. but I even appreciate that you feel that way you clearly have a lot of love for itchio and that's good, I'm doing the only thing I can other than sitting on my thumb. I’ve played your work and genuinely enjoy it. I find the ascii styling charming. Unfortunately my format is to leave a comment with my gameplay footage and then rate the game after because I dont like to just rate a game. I find the gameplay footage makes my comment more sincere because through my gameplay you can tell if I actually got passionate about the game and enjoyed it.  But I got lowkey addicted to that procedurally generated maze one where you collect syntax and at first the fear mechanic was really confusing to me but then I was speeding through like a bad ass. THEN I read that you needed to go in the bottom right corner and was like :O ohhhhhhhhhhh and stopped playing cause i got embarrassed. So I hope that clears up that im not yelling at you and infact dont really view you in a negative light aside from perhaps how i am upset with itchio as a platform and i do view you as a part of the 'itchio team', genuinely my bad if i made you feel that way. You're a indie game developer and I appreciate most indie game developers you included. That's besides the point though.

edit; honestly i just thought about it and "if the admins dont reply, then who exactly are you yelling at" is pretty much you saying the admins probably aren't going to do anything and you're the only one who is going to read this so why subject you to this? am i off?

What’s happening on Itch.io is a widespread issue, and the only way anything changes is if the community speaks together. Creators should be able to approve or filter what posts on their own pages maybe they could have the option to do it on a game by game basis or as a general blanket on anything their account puts out; even if staff doesn’t act, at least the community would know what creators want.

Itch.io has been great, in the past... but this is a new era and itchio is losing face. I might be upset but I STILL dont want itchio to fail.  Lack of action is not going to help that. Open communication is how change happens, and formal complaints go nowhere. I want itchio to take notice of the outrage and do something. Hopefully that is the outcome regardless of how I am interpreted.

Am I upet? Yeah. I don’t want to resent Itch.io, but many of us do and moreso by the day. The silence and lack of visible management are driving people away. If the admins choose not to act, that’s on them—but at least the community will have clearly voiced its concerns.

i don't want to ignore the rules but the rules in the whole system is constructed  that you don't have any chance to get a solution! people come here becouse the official way is allready ignoring them!

- the official way (posting a ticket) are not working  and ignored!

- a company who vorks and rely on volunteers! people who can not be blamed and do the dirty work! no offense!

-forwardind ticket numbers to an address you  don't even kno it's been read or processed is not a help!

-its not speeding up things where you put a middle man in the processing!

- put the blame on the (blocked by) payment processor but say you can speed up the process.

- we can't have a topic starts with "payment issue" , "time fame" or "delay" otherwise it will be deleted!

what kind of support is this? (i'm not talking about your personal commitment)

i choose my language wery carefully and address the situation as precise as i can. othervise it can be categorized as "unruly". It is silencing! still no money! no solution! it is my money! our money!

Moderator

You're making an huge number of assumptions. I'm really sorry to hear that you can't seem to get help from support, but I've already explained a bunch of things in our other discussion, yet you chose to ignore all of them. And you continue to ask questions nobody here can answer.

Far as I can tell, leafo wrote the rules that way because he's very particular about people doing things the right way. There are buttons to report projects, buttons to complain about a payout and so on. Posting here instead just means that someone has to waste time reminding you again that you can't get any help this way. Luckily I don't have a life.

You're not being "silenced". In fact I prefer to leave topics online because that way I can point people at them later. But you're yelling at clouds.

(+1)

well hopefully god will descend from the clouds and waggle his coding finger and make some alterations to how the site processes comments

(2 edits)

My "assumptions" comes from this facts:
-The Official channels NOT working! (no on responding to the tickets)
-5months delay (3-months for a lot of people)
- You try with exponation (thank you)! you try to speeding up things (thank you), but it is not working either!
- forwardind ticket numbers to an address you  don't even know it's been read.
- The creation about new topics make impossible to ask the right questions.
- Comments and topics disappearing or closed.

Wich one above  is not true?
Maybe if we get a real answer from the official channels to our tickets (the "buttons to complain about a payout") we would not be here and try to find solution however we can! ..or making "assumptions"!

Moderator

You're assuming what communication channels moderators have with our admins.

I'm still not sure what closed topics you're referring to. Did I close one of yours? They're kinda hard to look up in the moderation logs.

Once again, the rules are trying to help you by telling you from the start what questions it's useless to ask here. They're more like an instruction manual at this point. It doesn't matter how many times you ask those questions. No-one who reads this forum knows the answers!

(1 edit)

Exactly!

"No-one who reads this forum knows the answers!"

And no one handeling the tickets!(we would not be here otherwise)

This is "support"! Isn't it? Is that OK?  We are talking about a very serious issue!  money !

ps: i don't know who closed the topic. it was not started by me, i only commented something and the page was gone hours after (it existed months before). but if you interested in the topic then search on this forum you will find similar complains.  just scroll a bit higher.

Once... again. Who... exactly... are... you... asking? Heck, I've notified our admins directly to look at this earlier topic, where we had the exact same conversation and you just started over. I'm starting to doubt you're genuinely expecting answers here.

As for the deleted topic: if it was completely deleted, not just archived, then it probably wasn't me. If it was archived, you can find it via the latest posts in your community profile, and see if there was a reply from our admins.

This is "support"! Isn't it?

No. It is not.

Get help from the itch.io community. Have a quick question or issue, other members of the community can assist you in finding an answer. If you need to specifically contact itch.io staff you can message our support team. Although staff may monitor this forum, we request that any account related matters be submitted through our support system.

Your issue is about payout and the community cannot help you here, excepot if it helping you to know that other people have issues too.

There is a sticky where support for payout is.

https://itch.io/t/5345077/important-payout-or-tax-related-issues-read-here-no-th...

We ask that you no longer post requests for payout help on our community forums. We closed the previous topic we had open as it was a temporary solution until we updated some of our processes.

"if it helping you to know that other people have issues too."

No. It's not helping!

(1 edit) (+1)

I clicked that button 5months ago! (tax-info too)

I have taken the time to search (in my browser history) the deleted topic with the same issue (Jan 1, 2026): https://itch.io/t/5319212/have-you-been-waiting-weeksmonths-for-your-payout-please-reply-here#post-15179588
A guy named Jackson Meira (https://itch.io/profile/jacksonmeira) asked a question, I answered it, and the topic was deleted!

I can't see either the topic (404) or my own comment in my community profile.

In that case, I really don't know what happened. Sorry.

There is an issue about what people expect from a message board. Some companies do have a message board for technical support, that is named similar like this and it is operated by the company and has staff answering the threads.

But Itch's message board is between users. But admins are people too (I've heard) and they are not barred from reading and posting here. This still does not make it a tech support message board.

Actual support issues have to go through actual support. Which is via email.

Problems and frustration arise, because waiting time for any issue is long. Longer than the docs promise. So people complain to support for issues that are not complain-worthy. Not in the way that they are eglible for staff time. Like getting indexed or having comments unblocked. And from what I read, staff might work on those issues, but they never answer any tickets about these low priority things.

I think it is sending mixed signals, that there is an "inofficial" communication channel through the message boards anyway. By posting ticket numbers, after the rules even clarified that the board is not for this kind of support. Mixed signals indeed. Tell people what is not wanted here and then tell them how to do it anyway. I do not know or understand why this is done. From my perspective it only sparks people screaming loudly for things that would clear up by waiting like all the rest.

It is a squeaky wheel gets the grease method. At least it seems so. And I do not like that. What I would have expected it sharing frustration with each other in a community. People talking to each other how long support can take and basically telling each other, that everything is normal, and Itch staff is just overworked. And in some threads I did get the feeling that they were opened exactly for that reason. To check, if everything is normal, or if they did something wrong. Oh, but threads about how long support would take are discouraged. Mixed signals indeed. Maybe it is a language thing, as English is not my first language.

What am I trying to say? Itch offers services on a shoe string budget. And I fear for Itch's future, as they do not seem to get a grip on the support issues. Ignoring low priority issues like indexing and comments are one thing. Those are optional things that are not needed to use Itch (Sell a game, buy a game, download a game). But support tickets for those bog down more important issues like removing malware, double checking payouts and so on.

I would tackle parts of  this rather pragmatically and do things like update the docs. Tell people honestly what to expect. The docs talk about days and ecourage people to write unnecessary emails. Why. It costs nothing to rephrase that, so people do not write unneeded mails. If they know that indexing could take 4 weeks, and support will not answer mails about this, that avoids the often seen situation that someone complains in a thread: my game was not indexed after 3 days and support did not answer me after 2 days. Why do they expect this time frame in the first place? Why do they even expect an answer at all?

As for the comment blocking, some people forget the other side of the issue. Developers complaining about all the spam. It would be a lot worse, if there were no comment blocking for suspected spammers. The complainers are a sign that Itch is doing something. It could be more precise of course. But the criminials are working hard on their crimes. Sadly it is literally their job. I suspect they work in one of those tech agencies that professionally also scam people over the telephone. Itch is a side gig for them. At least it would explain a lot.

But here too, the message people get could be better. It could explain more what to expect and how to react.

As for payouts, I have seen how someone was so frustrated that he quit Itch. And for what? Because needed information was not at the expected place. Some tax information was outdated and it was not shown at the right place or not at all and of course, Itch did not respond within a few days as the docs promise.

Communication is an issue. It could be a lot better. It would not even need to be active communication. Passive communication could cover a huge lot. By that I mean giving people information at the right place at the right time, so they know what to expect. It would not reduce waiting time a lot, but it would dampen frustration a lot. Being in limbo about your situation is not a good thing.

dampen frustration:
2-3 days or 4 weeks? maybe..
But 5 months no answer via the official channel (ticket+email) surely not!

The most simple thing would be paying the people their money in (at least a reasonable) time!

No Time To Play!
Just a joke but I fear to ask: Could we make a suggestion to rename the category "Questions & Support" to "Echo Chamber" ? :D

Status: 155days (pending)
I haven't received an official response to my issue/ticket through the official channel! (Nor the money!)

156 days

(+1)

I have good news!

After 156 days i get an response and i received my payout!

I hope it is not personal information (nevertheless parts of it was leaked in other topic wich great handeling sensitive information by our moderators) i will copy/past here becouse it gives you (users) a ver important detail I did not receive in any form here on the site as an answere for my questions (about the delay):

"Apologies for the delay. It seems as though you miscategorized your payout by marking it as “other”. The “other” category is reserved specifically for manual payouts that are set up with specific sellers who handle payments through slower means, and as a result we don’t recommend you use the “other” or “manual” option when requesting your payout. In the future, please be sure to only use either “paypal” or “payoneer” based on what account your profile has associated to it."

I don't recall that i chose this option at all, i used paypal before, and i don't see that option (at the moment) in my account inder "payment processors". Despite all this, ITCH made the payment via PayPal.

If anyone in the same situation: Dont USE OTHER! (whatever it means)

I also hornestly believe that after a week here try to "force out" some answere and/or solution is what made itch to handle my issue wich is terrible but it was necessery.

Please don't get me wrong (like most community moderators)! I love ItchIO, but I like having my money, or at least knowing why I can't get it or when (I think this applies to everyone in a similar situation).

moderators solve problems by giving generic answers, like updating tax information even though I have done it a long time ago (I am/was "validated"). They forwarding tickets to the same address (without feedback) as us, and sometimes assuming things like I must be doing something illegal. They handeling things as moderators (becose they are, it is not their fault) but that should not be their task. Moderators usually getting rid of the users that are cousing trouble in the community. It is a completly different approach and attitude than "handeling an angry customer" by real support. By doing that they do this that the conversation cannot have a positive outcome and usually escalates. Problems like this slowly but surely spread to other channels (and have been for months) like YouTube and force content creators to move to other sites.

It should have happened, like get things done in an official channel (two way communiction between the user AND ITCH). Please address or handle the situation seriously as it should be! (if needed somehire people)

...and please rename the "Questions and Support" topic to "Questions and Answers" or something other than Support! This is not Support! This is very misleading and you are only causing trouble for yourself!

(1 edit)

I guess the end of the year cleanup they do will finally dig out any misplaced requests. I remember reading that they actually do have special options for payout that are reserved for things like those mega bundles. But of course it is an interface problem, if people can accidentally activate an option that is not helpful for their kind of payout.

Hints like that should go into the sticky https://itch.io/t/5345077/important-payout-or-tax-related-issues-read-here-no-th... and of course the options in the payout dialogue should be made foolproof, if at all possible.

(Ohhh, it's you. I misread the avatar icon. So that's why your issue was marked as resolved.)

Moderator

Please stop fanning the flames and let this entire incident end already. Thank you.

You again! My other topic question was resolved (for some reason) not this! I am not the only one with "confusion".. :)

Yes! And  the other problem is the complete lack of OFFICIAL SUPPORT for 5months and let things "escalate" where a single line in an email can solve all this!

Yes the site should note near the option "OTHER" in the payment processing! Something like "DON'T BE SUPRIZED!  IT WOULD TAKE  A HELL LOT OF TIME!".
Otherwise people are left in the dark.

(1 edit)

and a technical issue: It's very hard to distiquish and follow who is answering to what post. There should be some other indentation formatting (but i am not an expert).
