Cool game! The music (and the SFX in general) is really good. The drawn cut-scenes are a really nice touch too and really surprised me!

Game description
Orphaned before she could learn how to fly, Sona is all alone and looking for other bats to call family. Using bugs to fuel her, she deploys echolocation to illuminate a sprawling network of treacherous caves. Dodging predators, navigating sheer drops, and uncovering long-hidden pathways lead her to a mysterious den perched high above the cliffs. Can she survive the climb and finally find a place to belong?
Theme interpretation
Echolocation! Bat's can't see, and use sound waves for sight. We made this game with limited visibility, and you must use the bat's echolocation to see more of the level and guide your way to the end.

You have done a lot in such a short time. Unfortunately, I did not pass the first level, the character movement feels a bit like walking on ice, and it’s a bit hard to control for me. Aside from that, the music, the mechanics, the art, the animation and the story (from what I’ve seen, I’m so sad I’m not skilled enough to see more) are really nice. Great job!
Cool use of wave mechanic , it adds an extra layer to regular platformer. The energy mechanic also makes you move faster, so the pacing is better! Controls feel fair , maybe a little bit floaty , but it does the job. Music ,animation and little cutscenes in between are fitting perfectly 😁
Player character is really cute and the storytelling is done on point ! 🦇 I got through first two levels ,but will come back to finish it soon!
One note is that ,at first , I didn't know I can jump on enemies (got a tip pop-up later though) . Also, the spikes didn't give me an indication of being a hazard , but again, trial and error 😁
Great job overall, kudos to the team! 🙌🏻
cool game! I'm being severely skill issued and absolutely can't get past the first level lol, but from what I could gather it's a nice lil bat platformer! the cutscenes are cute too, very cool stuff
Great game, impressive how there's a proper structure with story and great art. In my opinion the level design is really good but like some of the others have said, with the movement being a bit rough I think maybe decreasing the checkpoint interval by .5 would have been great. I agree that shortening the acceleration/deceleration curves to make it sharper, Madeline-like movement would have really elevated the game to the next level.
Beautiful art; I'm amazed at the level of polish that went into it! Congrats!!!
Sadly, the situation is a bit worse in the gameplay department, and by that, I mean the player movement not aligning with the level design. Decceleration wants it to be a Mario, momentum-based, good for horizontal movements; however, the level design pulls in the Celeste precision platformer direction. This creates discouraging moments when deaths don't feel deserved.
PS The gravity also felt off, maybe cuz after a flap it's stronger than at the top of the jump?
Thank you much, and I appreciate the review!
Yes totally agree with you that the gravity feels a bit off, and I have hopefully addressed it already on a new branch. This was intended to be a very challenging platformer, perhaps even a rage game :) The goal was to be just a bit harder/ more technical than Celeste was.
I've enjoyed playing this! Difficulty spikes right from the start, but becomes enjoyable as you get used to controls.
Music is awesome and really gives you adventure vibes.
Some of the mechanics felt too stiff which gave me feeling for the game to be unnecessarily difficult at some moments. Unless you aimed for making it more of a rage game, haha =)
Particularly, I would nerf falling acceleration. It just feels like you reach the speed of light in 1 second lol
Also making a platform slow down before changing direction would help to better see its movement area.
Those are minor cons, but they gave me most of my hard time in game, haha =)
Anyways, nice entry. Good job!
Thank you for the great feedback and checking the game out!
Yes I low key want it to be a rage game! haha Although I do want the game to still feel fair to the player.
I think you're right about the falling acceleration speed - will do some tweaking there. And a good thought on the plank movement too!
Thanks again and I'll be sure to check your game out!
This is a very cute game with a great story. Liked the music and the idea of echolocation to "light up" the world. The ice (?) felt like I could slide on it sometimes and other times, I would just stop. Definitely some difficult platforming in there, but it was fun nevertheless. Would love to see more!
Cheers,
Daragard
Really great and cute platformer. Loved the interpretation of the theme, and especially loved the story of this cute little bat <3
In terms of critiques, I'll echo (lol, bats) another reviewer's sentiment that the platforming controls feel pretty floaty and not super tight which can be a bit frustrating given that the level design calls for some pretty precise platforming. I played on keyboard though so maybe this isn't so much the case on controller!
Altogether though, a really great and polished entry. Congrats to the devs this is a huge achievement!
It is a complete game! Cutscenes and all. Very cute art too.
I liked the mechanic. It was quite simple but very thematic. Sometimes it felt a bit unfair though that it saps your energy.
I had some issues with tight platforming. The character simply did not feel very responsive.
But overall, one of the top entries I have played so far.
