Good job! I had a hard time with the T-rex initially, but on easy mode it was easy peasy (the T-rex is just static in a corner, right?).

In the second part, though, it was not so clear to me. I ended up doing two or three of the tasks, but then the game stopped accepting my keyboard commands. I'm not sure of the reason.

Pure curiosity: Did you record the voice for the men in the city? It was a funny touch to hear them complaining about work in front of a caveman twice their size :D

Developer

To be honest, the easy mode doesn’t work—I couldn’t get it working. But I noticed that many people psychologically felt like it was easier anyway. The dinosaur kind of has its own memory: if you hide from it for a while, it forgets you and goes back to its nest. The idea of the easy mode was actually to increase the number of mushrooms, but as you know, there was a time constraint :)

I couldn’t fully understand the issue you mentioned about ā€œstopped accepting my keyboard commands.ā€ If you can explain it a bit more, it would help me a lot when I continue developing the game after the jam.

Haha, no no, those sounds aren’t mine šŸ˜„ There are a few sounds that belong to me, but the businessman definitely isn’t me hahaha.

Submitted

The situation was like that:

  • I hit all the cars
  • the ambulance run away leaving the crystal behind
  • I collect the crystal (with E i think)
  • Then I could move the camera around with the mouse like usually, but every input with keyboard was not working (WASD movement for example).

Is it more clear? I don't have any idea on how this can happen šŸ˜…

Well done on this world and 3d adventure.  The mushrooms do resemble UFO's to me, but having been shocked by the dinosaur and the full 3d realm deserve high marks on this one.  I didn't make it very far.  I probably didn't put enough time in to capturing all the mushrooms, perhaps due to my fear of being eaten by TRex again!

I only have 17 ratings of my Wave Themed Scrabble Scramble multi-player game submission to this Jam -- One day left, perhaps one more rating?.... https://itch.io/jam/game-off-2025/rate/4006867

Developer(+1)

Hey bro, what—didn’t I rate your game? Yeah, I just checked; I only left a comment on your page. At that time you could only rate random people’s games. I’m rating it right away .

I’m glad you liked the game :)

Submitted

Awesome, yeah, same here.  We were checking each others game before rating was allowed.  Less than 1 day left, enjoy.

p.s. I've been non stop busy on another jam by the way... Still 17 days left in that one...

It’s nice to see you again — you participated in Alchemy Jam #7, right?

You’re pretty active in this jam thing.

Do you have any advice?

Submitted(+2)

Just put the time in. Take a walk, get an idea, and then jam it in.  That's how I've been jamming for the past 6 months.  I have a lot of free time and enjoy coding for myself, having left a paid programming position a while back.

If you see my itch, you'll see I've mostly done html, css, JavaScript projects.. quick and easy to throw things together..  I also tried a variety of things, ThreeJS, HTML canvas, used Matter JS for 2d physics in falling block Jam, and latest tried an isometric view.  Some are mobile friendly, and all were a great chance to learn practice and enjoy the creativity opportunity these Jams provided.

What a neat little game! The atmosphere you set with the visuals, the fog and the music was very good. The controls were and the objectives were clear, which matters a lot. One issue I had (which might 100% be specific to my system) was that the aim sensitivity was too high and I didn't see a way to change that in options. I also thought the appearance of the T-Rex was very abrupt - unless I was too dumb to notice it coming while smacking the mushrooms :)) But I'd expect a beast such as that to at least make some thumping noises. So it was a very sudden Game Over.

In the end, this was one of the better entries in this jam. You guys are are obviously talented and I hope that you keep making games.

Developer

Ahaah, thank you for the lovely comment!

Yes, I'm thinking of adding mouse sensitivity settings, of course after Jam.

Thanks  for playing.

That dinosaur is scary af! Got killed by it the first time so I was more careful in my second attempt and it didnt move at all, I dont know if I just didnt startled it or if he just got stuck... Sound design is pretty good, that added a lot for the dino's "scaryness". The second part of the game I was able to finish but I played it on browser and it had performance issues... anyway, slapping suited workaholic guys and sending them to the sky was really neat =)

Developer(+1)

Exactly, the browser issue is need to be fixed,

Example, when you tap on ATMs, money starts scattering, but I decided against adding that and deleted it.

and I have many things in mind to add,

Anyway, I'm happy you enjoyed it.

When i first punted one of the business guys saying ā€œI have to go to workā€ and he started spinning through the road; i realised i was playing a surrealist masterpiece :’D

Great work. Continue to grow and challenge yourself!

Developer(+1)

A surrealist masterpiece? Don't exaggerate so much.

Thanks for the great comment POOGLIES :)

I got jump scared by the dinosaur ;-;

I like the theme! A little feedback after my playthrough:

  • Maybe it's worth gating the asteroid area off until it's relevant — I went there first and was confused what to do
  • The icons on rocks seemed out of place and a little hard to read... maybe it would be clearer to have a prompt what to do up top like you used later for the crater etc?
  • The dinosaur got stuck behind a rock and was no threat to me
Developer

Yes, I started making the game 10 days after the jam session began. Many parts are still missing and there are sections that need fixing, but I will fix them after the jam session, so tomorrow :)

Submitted(+1)

Love the music and the atmosphere. It reminded me of Turok. The T-Rex is cool, but hard to avoid it. I played on the easy mode, but it was not that easy for me (but I am not good at first-person games). In general, it has potential, well done!

Developer

It's wonderful to have your old memories revived.

Thank you for playing.

Submitted(+1)

Cool game! Good concept, I also used easy mode since The T-Rex got me pretty quickly. I never beat the game unfortunately as i kept getting soft locked, once in the first level by a tree and another time in the second by a crystal. Would be nice though if the sprinting and jumping from the second stage came into the first as well.

Overall very nice though! Slapping things around was fun

Developer

Haha yes, the dinosaur part turned out a bit too difficult, and there are still bugs in the game. I started making the game 10 days after the jam had already begun, so I didn’t have the chance to fix many of the bugs. Anyway, I’m glad you liked it. NekoDragon

Submitted(+1)

I liked it! Art was good, audio caught me off-guard a couple times in the best of ways :)) The caveman model was really funny too.

The t-rex is difficult to avoid, I ended up just going for the mushroom guys furthest away and bolting as soon as the roar happened- are there other ways to play around it than just running away until it goes elsewhere?

I liked the easy mode inclusion, came in handy after beating the first level a couple times and wanting to rush to the second. Having two separate gamemodes is often pretty ambitious for a jam like this, but you definitely did a good job at fitting it all in.

I encountered a substantial bug, where taking one of the crystals in the second level prevented me from moving at all afterwards. It seemed to happen after picking up the colour building crystal or the fire hydrant crystal- unsure about the others. I also couldn't hit the fire hydrant after picking up the tree branch- I'm not 100% sure if that locks me out of completing the game as I shortly afterwards got frozen after picking up a crystal šŸ˜…

Overall cool! I liked playing this one and the caveman will be burnt into my brain for a long time :)))

Developer(+1)

I would’ve loved to see the moment when you hid and ran away, of course  :)  There are other ways too—for example, you can lure the dinosaur away from its nest and collect the mushrooms while it’s approaching you from a distance. Your comment and evaluation were really nice, thank you. I’ll fix the bugs and issues after the jam; I don’t want it to be unfair.

Submitted(+1)

I really like the sound choices for this game, they're all goofy and have great personality.  Shout out specifically to the dinosaur's roar and the bonk sound when you hit someone in the city level, as well as the string music. I really like the skybox in the mushroom level as well.

A couple suggestions if you keep working on this game:  I think the T-rex is very difficult.  It took me a ton of tries to get past the mushroom level.  If it sees you your only option seems to be running all the way back to the start and waiting for it to move, and even then it might still be in a spot where it can see you.  The mushroom level being first person and the city level being third person also through me for a loop.  I feel like it'd probably be best to commit to one style, but maybe shifting gameplay prospective was really what you were going for.

Awesome job!

Developer

Wow, you really analyzed the game well — I’m grateful for that, it’s a great developer-style comment.
Yes, I was very hesitant about making the mushroom level first-person and the city level third-person. I know it’s unconventional.

After watching the cutscene where the meteor crashes and the caveman approaches it a few times, I thought: the universe changes as the game continues, so let the perspective change too and let’s see how people react. :)

Anyway, thank you for your valuable comment, Matt.

Very cool entry! There were some UI issues where I couldn't read the task list in the city because there was a blue text on top of the tasks, I also had a few frame rate issues when in the city. Other than that, very cute game, really liked the businessmen just saying "Work" as I hit them down the street!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed it, yes I will fix that UI issue after the jam.

Submitted(+1)

I really enjoyed your game! The caveman roaring scared me more than the dinosaur did hehe. The npc business men's "I've got to go to work" made me laugh.  It was straight forward, fun and easy to understand. I did get stuck in the same place as an earlier comment said where the controls just stopped working after the 3rd task in the city, for me it was extinguishing the firehouse. Even so, I thought it was great! :)

Developer

Thanks for the nice comment.

Ahahahah yes, the caveman scream part was funny.

I had a lot of fun making it.

Yes, I'll fix that mistake after the jam so it's not unfair, because I don't want it to be :))

Submitted(+1)

Nice atmosphere, and the music was very soothing. I do feel like there might be a tonal clash between the peaceful music and the fact that the main obstacle of the first level is a dinosaur - but that's the kind of weird tonal dissonance I enjoy. The bonk sound is a classic, though the attack itself felt a little slow. I felt like a war criminal for bludgeoning those poor mushroom creatures haha. Overall, a fairly interesting little experiment.

Developer

Thanks for your comment, m_2ne.

I'm glad you enjoyed the game. I'll keep developing it after the jam is over.

Submitted(+1)

the music is nice. Attack could be a bit snappier. Aside from that pretty cool stuff!

Developer

Your comment was very nice.

I will keep it in mind during the development process.

Submitted(+1)

This is what game jams are for! Really interesting game.

The art style on the mushroom level is really special, although I think there was way too much fog.. but the sky box and the trees are really unique

On the city level - I wasn't sure what to do at first, but after roaming around some and seeing the text on the floor at became clearer. The physics were really funny. I was able to complete 3 tasks before the character didn't move anymore, and when pressing escape I accedinatelly quit the game :(

I tried the mushroom part again for like 5 times but couldn't beat it again, even on easy mode, I think the dinasour sound are really genius and nerve wrecking, but it's was too much for me.

It's a shame, because I would love to see if there was more. Really bizzare and experimintal game. Impressive work!

Developer

Thank you for your kind and constructive comment.

It was very helpful that you wrote in detail. I will take everything you wrote into consideration and update the game after the jam is over.

"This is what game jams are for!" comment made me very happy

Submitted(+1)

I like the mood - somewhat mysterious! It was fun to bonk some mushrooms, great animation and sound effect for that.

I was not able to escape the T-Rex and I tried multiple times. There did not seem to be a clear pattern to how to trick it or hide from it.

By the way, I found that "Who wants to be a millionaire" sound effect!

Developer

Ahah thanks for playing I'm glad you had fun ā€œwho wants to be a millionaireā€ ı think you're the first person to notice the sound effect :)

If you hide behind a tree or a rock. The dinosaur is looking for you for a while. When he can't find you, he returns to his home.

I'll play your game as soon as possible.

Creating a 3D game within a game jam is a bold move, and achieving such a high level of completion is clearly a massive undertaking.

I like the mushroom character, even though it looks alien. The game's atmosphere is fantastic, especially when the dinosaurs appear, although I couldn't escape their mouths. Honestly, this game has a lot of content, and submitting it within the allotted time is a miracle in itself.

Overall, well done!

Developer

Actually, it was done in 20 days :) aperishated  for your kind comment.

Submitted(+2)

Love the music and the atmosphere. Took a few tries to escape the T rex. Whacking the mushrooms was a chore initially but gets better as you continue. Second level was a bit laggy but that might be my system. Great game in all.

Developer

I'm glad you had fun. Thank you for playing.

Really huge amount of art assets I love seeing something this ambitious. FPS games are really hard mode for game jams.  Also the zany sound effects and vibe is great. Beat the first level after a couple tries. Your FOV feels a little tight and the colliders are a little aggressive around the fence. I liked the fog and the swinging animation. I then got to the second which was a cool concept. Puzzles in the real world kind of reminded me of a scavenger hunt. Was a bit laggy which makes sense, online game with that many assets is tough to make run smooth. I then got stuck after triggering the gas station. They game me a crystal and my player control disabled.  The second level has so many assets I really admire setting all that up that ain't easy. Hugely ambitious project great to see it.

Developer

Thank you for trying to play the entire game :) Yes, I received a few more comments about freezing when collecting crystals, but I haven't encountered it myself. I will definitely look into that bug.

Thank you for writing in such detail.

I took note about the collider of the fences.

I'm so glad you had fun :)
