Really cool game made using RPG Maker! The switch to first-person-shooter is really unique and the jumpscare near the end really got me. Also, nice aesthetic and music.
Really impressive, this feels like one of those fictional game in an analog horror series. Great music too.
Level design could be better. It is often unclear which sides of the screen can be exited. The tree hitboxes are also a bit annoying, you fully expect to be able to go behind the trees but the colliders are 1:1 with the sprite.
Overall a good submission, can't believe this is RPGMaker.
I can't believe this was all made in RPGMaker. It's so visually impressive. The game already stands out from other RPGMaker games I've played, and mind you, I love RPGMaker games; I play a lot. But aside from the movement, I would never be able to tell this was made in RPGMaker. The perspective change when you're shooting the deer almost felt surreal to me. It's such a shift and so unique.
The story itself is quite dark from what I've gathered. The mention of Smile Man all throughout the game, and somehow I never realized when we got to the house that our character has a frown. Well, I did notice it, but I didn't think much of it. Then it seems like we didn't take our meds, and we indeed are the Smiling Man.
The OST was great! I was really immersed in the story, the first person view was really unexpected but such a cool concept to incorporate with the photo realistic elements. The game is really stylized and works out so well together with the UI and controls. I was really happy to find my own reflection, nice little detail! Amazing work and really enjoyed the game! I got lost a bit at the beginning for sure and it felt a bit slow but other than that there was no bugs or crashes.
The game had a great atmosphere and art direction. I enjoyed the story and even the jumpscare. my only complaints are that it can feel a bit tedious when you aren't sure where to go and end up revisiting an area multiple times to try and find out where to go. i understand it may break immersion to just straight up tell us where to go though. i also really enjoyed the shift from 2d to 3d during the shooting parts to help sell the immersion.
I knew it was coming, I knew it was coming and still nearly fell out of my chair
Oh I loved it. The realistic animations blended in with a little arcade-y style of the game... Also, whoever was making the OST did NOT have to go this fucking hard, omg
The game works well, the idea is cool. I think it's a little tedious to navigate and to explore the map. I also wish there was more gameplay during the shooting phases. Overall the game is cool, the pixel art of the house is especially well done! The jumpscare is a little cheap though; Awsome work!
Really effective horror game! The aesthetics were really good, and it felt pretty complete from the start and all the way to the end! The transitions from 2d to 3d were really good, and the noises from killing the *deer* were really creepy and did a good job of selling the final twist. Really good submission overall and good game!
Neat retro style game, The art is good and the story is interesting. Great submission!
Nice trope of the innocent kid with an imaginary friend, allowing some unsettling contrasts. But the upbeat "spooky" chiptune destroys the mood completely for me. I also haven't been able to figure out what to do, after killing my second deer.
Very cool kind of game! I like this retro style!
5/5
Nice game! Reminded me of Faith. Loved the music!!
I liked the First Person perspective a lot, I wished the whole games was like that, and the animations are really good.
Great game, mine was also made with RPG Maker and yours uses it a way I'd never have imagined!
props to the team
The FMV was fantastic. I wish the third person movement was less clunky, luckily it's much less painful to move using the click-to-move feature. I found it a bit tedious wandering the forest looking for the next bit of the story but the map isn't so large that it's a total deal breaker. Visuals were perfect and the dialogue was short and sweet. One of the only scares that got me this jam 😁 Well done!
Love the mix of 8bit artstyle and this fmv like first person gameplay :) Didn’t expect the story to get so involved - loved it! Great entry and great job :)
The Ending Hit Me Hard. The Uncertainty Ties It All Together. The Movement Could Have Used Some Work. Overall Fantastic Experience.
I really like the art style! The combination of old 2D and first-person works really well with the story and the twist. We did something similar in our game. One thing I also felt was that not changing anything in the background while the player is reading the note is a missed opportunity - this would add interest and a sense of mystery. Overall, great game, I really liked it!
A very cool project! Just a heads up-- you redistributed this as a downloadable instead of a browser game, so a number of your paid plugins are being redistributed in a way that may break TOS! I'd suggest encrypting the plugins or switching to a browser deployment :)
Crazy that this was made with RPG Maker! Great work! Really enjoyed the aesthetics of this one. Reminded me a lot of FAITH
