Thank you! I saw it on Discord. Always feel so surreal to see someone try out the game!

Sorry we're working on the farming mechanics and refining our gacha system.

Last minute jam rating lol. It’s pretty much a classic RPG Maker experience, with the deaths and all. I think the 2.5D look is beautiful, and I’m surprised I haven’t seen more RPG Maker games on Steam go for this kind of style. I love the sprite work and the design of the main character and environments. The setting is quite eerie and fits the horror vibe perfectly.

The use of the bell to attract the monster is creative, and I think the game’s sound design is really good. Even putting my hand into the water and dying startled me a bit, despite it using a default RPG Maker sound. The placement of the sounds throughout the game is very well done.

I might just be a little dumb, but I got stuck at certain points and wasn’t sure where to go. Still, I really enjoyed it and plan to try it again later. Again, this game just looks so good! Great job!

Thank you so much!

Ahhh I think you might be the first person to notice that! I just thought I’d put something there for the audience instead of just gibberish. Thank you so much for the nice comments. I think your game is so polished! I hope we’ll be able to catch up to you in game development skills.

Thank you for the nice comments! Your game has a very unique look as well.

Oh man the Kickstarter is so outdated. I really gotta update that lol

Thank you! Yeah, that’s exactly what I wanted with the story. A lot of surreal experiences while sick tend to come across as too vague, or the weird world doesn’t have much interaction. I wanted to include even more dialogue in this game, and we might still do so after an update.

Not trying to promote or anything, but in our main game, ./DreamON, I really want to create a world where there are NPCs who talk and tell stories while still being in a surreal environment. So I’m really glad you liked our story! Also, your game was one of my favorites in the jam too, so hearing you say this makes me very happy.

Thank you! We wanted to add even more dialogue, but didn't have time! Maybe during post jam updates!

This is insane for a game jam. I’m going to be honest, I almost don’t believe this was done in a week, because it is incredible. The game kind of reminds me of a mix of Night Loops and Illusion Carnival. It is so surreal and has a lot of absurdist humor, yet it really does tell a nice story in the background as well.

The characters are all very fun. I wanted to talk to everything just to see what they would say. The game wasn’t that scary, but there were definitely dark moments and even some dark imagery at certain points. This felt like a full game I would actually pay for on Steam. It is honestly so good. This might be one of my favorite games in the entire jam.

Everything, for the most part, controlled fine. I didn’t really understand the sneeze ensemble, so I just left the room early. I’m not sure if you’re supposed to do that, but everything else felt very intuitive and incredibly fun.

The music is also great. The songs fit each moment perfectly. This game is a total vibe.

I'm not sure if I understood all of the mini games, but it was a very fun play. The mix of cute art and horror was great. The timed dialogue was fun to pick and really puts you on the spot, and I'm pretty sure I survived in the end? I really like these types of "dating" horror games and would love to see an expanded version after the jam.

That was even darker than I expected. What a beautiful-looking game you made in a week. The retro aesthetic, her sprite portrait, and how she appeared in the CGs were gorgeous. This jam might have had one of the strongest sound designs for me. The footsteps, the long pauses, they really make the experience a lot stronger as a whole. It is a short VN with a story that I think is quite impressive for a game jam.

As for the story itself, I feel like I do understand what was going on, but I was not as emotionally connected as I could have been. It is very hard to build that up in 10 to 15 minutes, though. What I did get from the story left a sinking feeling in my chest, which is more than likely what you intended.

The game is very impressive. The train designs, the environments in general, and the enemies each having their own gimmicks are all great. The AI is especially impressive considering it was made in only seven days, and the whole experience feels very polished.

The combat is fairly simple overall. I do find it a bit annoying that your weapon gets unequipped when interacting with objects. It interrupts the flow, makes me want to pick up items less, and entering the next room without your weapon feels frustrating. Still, the game has great creepy vibes, and I am curious to see where it goes after the jam.

I have no idea how you came up with this game, but it's pretty amazing. I love the model for Miku placed in this weird German setting. I'm not sure I fully understand the mechanics, in terms of which train I can get into, but I'm still having a lot of fun. It was surreal and weird. Please teach me how to play this properly.

Thank you so much! My friend and I are very happy to hear this! I always say this, since this is our first game released to the public, we never knew how people would respond to our unusual ideas. My ideas have just been in a random Google Doc for so long that it was very hard for me, at least, to imagine how people would like them. My friend also had to try to convert those ideas into actual coded gameplay, so it is a huge compliment to us to hear that you enjoyed it so much. It really does motivate both of us.

Very fun game! I love seeing the different endings based on my choices, and the dialogue is hilarious lol. Judge me or not, but I did kill the guy on my first try by going into the shower. This was so fun. I love the GBA style and aesthetic. I can tell you had a lot of fun making this, and I am shocked you did it in just three days. The humor and branching choices reminded me of a slightly cruder version of Endless Monday. Great job!

Today I learned that I SHOULD NEVER go into the cave, cause I will get lost lmao.

These damn kids attracting these damn monsters. I had fun playing the game, and sometimes it did scare me, but it was definitely a funny horror game. It gave me the vibes of those older campy horror movies and that is just perfect lol. Peak voice acting also. Looking for those bastards inside the cave was a little annoying.

The art is so pretty. This is a sweet short visual novel that deals with a dark topic. I can tell you likely worked right up to the day of release, but I think it was worth it. The story and art are both very beautiful. It does feel a bit short, though that is understandable with a game jam schedule. The story is sad, but I am glad that the main character (Andrew?) seems able to find a path forward instead of staying shut in his room.

The game's aesthetic and visuals are perfect. It already feels like something that would be on Steam. I am excited to see more updates for the game. As some of the comments below said, it reminds me of a messed up version of Overcooked. I think it would be great if you started using different types of "meat" for some extra variety.

Thank you! We'll try to fix the bugs after the release. I can't believe the Candlekeep is here, though. Chat, is this real?

Cute girl in the mirror, simple but pretty challenging gameplay, good work!

I can't believe this was all made in RPGMaker. It's so visually impressive. The game already stands out from other RPGMaker games I've played, and mind you, I love RPGMaker games; I play a lot. But aside from the movement, I would never be able to tell this was made in RPGMaker. The perspective change when you're shooting the deer almost felt surreal to me. It's such a shift and so unique.

The story itself is quite dark from what I've gathered. The mention of Smile Man all throughout the game, and somehow I never realized when we got to the house that our character has a frown. Well, I did notice it, but I didn't think much of it. Then it seems like we didn't take our meds, and we indeed are the Smiling Man.

The game looked nice, and I loved the voice-acted intro at the beginning. The pixel art is really well done, and the way we move into different rooms felt well executed. I do think there are a few too many doors, especially since some of them didn’t seem to have much purpose. Some of the puzzles, while you did provide hints, I probably just didn’t understand. I do think the hints could be a bit clearer; for example, the triangle diagram didn’t mean much to me, and I eventually solved it through trial and error. I also think there is a lot of backtracking. Overall, though, it was a fun experience, and I would love to see this further refined after the jam.

Very scary horror experience. The posterization and the other effects you had here all work together beautifully. The hotel looked horrifying and incredibly eerie. I will say that some of the environments were a bit too dark, and I had to wall-crawl a little to see where I was going, but I think it is very well done overall!

What a fun game! It feels like something that could easily be expanded into a full game on its own. The gameplay loop is really enjoyable, and I had a great time examining each object and making sure they were safe.

Imagining this game with more nights and more story sounds like a dream if you continue to work on it. This is probably one of my favorite games from this game jam in terms of pure gameplay loop. The anomalies were fun to notice; some were harder to spot, and the one with the note warning not to look into the hallway (which I didn’t listen to, of course) was pretty scary. Cheers.

What a wonderful experience!

I love RPG Maker games. It is probably one of the game engines I have played the most games from, not necessarily because the engine itself is amazing, but because the games made with it resonate with me emotionally. The experiences are always so creative, and I take a lot of inspiration from many RPG Maker games myself.

Knightsong is a really good experience. It is honestly comparable, if not better, than RPG Maker games of similar length that I have played, so the fact that this is a game jam entry is incredible. The pixel art looks great. The enemies, the environments, all of it fits the game very well. At first I could not guess where the story was going, then it became very clear.

The way the game shows how the protagonist's own delusion prevents them from spending time with their likely terminally ill friend is haunting. We as humans often try to live in fantasy, yet we are always reminded of reality and should not ignore it. This is definitely one of the top stories I have seen in this jam so far.

I think that since the game sometimes moves you into enemies once you get close to them, it would probably be best to include an autosave feature. The game is short and not very difficult, but I was spamming near the end, died, and had to restart. But it's all good because you can get back to it pretty fast.

Short game with a pretty atmospheric vibe to the story. I really do wish it had some sort of music, even a single ambient track playing would help a lot, or the text itself having typewriter pixel noises when it appears. I thought the story was established well, there was a good amount of interaction, and I really want to know more about what is going on with the monster.

Thank you! Welcome to a small piece of Oneiros. We want to create much bigger worlds for you to explore.

The style of the game is super cool! I love this type of dystopian, sci-fi vibe that is dark and metallic-grungy. The gun itself looks totally sick, and I love the laser that comes out of it, which also helps aim at the robots' heads. At first, I thought the lack of music was a bit off, but then it actually made the game a lot tenser because when it’s mostly quiet, all you hear are electrical noises in some sections or the robots stomping their way toward you, which can be quite scary. I do think some of the objectives could be a bit more obvious, since otherwise you might do things out of order or waste time, especially because the enemies you kill per room respawn.

Thank you! First person to mention ./DreamON here!

The aesthetic is very cool! The black-and-white look and the floating text make the whole game feel like a very stylized experience, and I think that's one of its biggest pros for me. I like that you have three guns you can switch between at any time, so you can change your playstyle whenever.

I do think the enemy AI is a bit wonky sometimes. For example, they’ll sometimes walk into walls, and they’re pretty dumb, so it’s easy to win. It makes sense because AI for enemies is hard to implement, especially in a week. I also didn’t like the idea of looking for numbers in so many rooms just to check things; it feels like a way to pad content. Still, I think it was a solid shooter, especially one that looks really nice and unique. I think this visual style has a lot of potential.

A game that rightfully gives a big fuck you to AI. I think it was a solid experience and got the message across.

I will say, I think the way some of the text is presented is a bit annoying to read, but at the same time, it seems to be mimicking how incoherent AI can be. AI isn’t human; it’s all sloppy code. So I guess it all fits. It does make for clunkier storytelling, but maybe that’s intentional, since AI is never going to be as coherent as a human.

It is basically a game where you look at images back and forth and try to find the objects listed on the wall. The concept is simple, but it becomes surprisingly terrifying in practice. The tension is very strong, and it feels like a genuinely intense horror experience. I managed to beat it after about ten attempts, so it is not an easy game either. It is very fun, the words are randomly chosen, and it is a great horror game for the Scream Jam.

Pretty cool game! I've only completed one ending so far. When I tried to get another by starting a new run, I got to the chatbox but it was stuck at Response 1, Response 2, and Response 3.

As for the route I did complete, I think building up the mystery of the chatbot was pretty neat. I like the storytelling format of switching between conversations with our friend, then the bot, then the intern. I didn’t really expect the twist either, so that was a nice surprise.

Don't threaten me with a good time, and followed. I actually need to go back and follow a lot of people when this Jam is over. I forgot to do that lol

Maybe my favorite game I have played in the entire Jam, and I have only played one ending so far. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE for this to become a full game eventually.

The aesthetic of talking in a chat room and the way people speak in this game feels so real. Every character archetype will remind you of someone if you have ever been in chat rooms or forums from that era. All of them really do remind me of people I talked to in real life. (Anyone remember xat.com?) It's so cool how much love and attention to detail is put into the dialogue. The music is great and fits the whole game so well. I really enjoy being able to change it, turn it off, and have different ambience based on my "mood".

The plot is also so interesting, and I love the way it is told. It is very subtle with its mystery. It will not tell you everything outright, but you connect the dots as you play. The choices you get to make feel so personal and have a clear impact on the story. I just cannot stop gushing about this game. As some commenters already mentioned, I would love to be able to click on the links and stuff too. But I love it so much. I cannot wait for more updates. Also, should I play the other route right now or is it better to wait for post jam updates?

DISILLUSION FAN SPOTTED. Disillusion is also a huge inspiration to me lol.

Also, what a fun concept! I would really love to see this more fleshed out with additional relationship stages and such. I also think this game could use some music. There is a lot of great royalty-free music you can use, and many indie games, even some big ones, do. You just have to search for the right tracks. But I think this concept has so much potential. The dialogue was really fun and quirky, so I really hope you keep working on the game!

Wow, I was pretty horrendous at this lol. Thankfully, the game is quite forgiving, so you can just continue no matter what. It's a short rhythm game, and I think it does its job for what it is. I do wish there were more variety in the songs, since it is a rhythm game, and also a bit more background on the story. But it was made in a week, so it is already polished as it is.

Thank you! We had a lot of fun making the geometry room!

The look of the game is awesome. The intro and the overall atmosphere, even during the gameplay, felt almost like I was playing a Lain-type experience. I don’t usually play these types of games, so it’s probably just me being bad, but the things chasing you are far too fast, especially since there are two of them. If they push you into a corner or against a wall, it’s really hard to get out because the Roomba you’re controlling is quite clunky. I do think this has a lot of potential, and for people good at the game, it seems like a pretty polished experience.
