No! I was fricking about and finding out, and I found out! Aka. I was exploring out of the bounds and dropped down to meet my ultimate doom; Infinite dark. Anyways restart and back I go to fighting with the flashlight.

Really impressive amount made in a week, and I do quite adore the style of the game. Not only art wise, but the perspective choice and 2D mixed well like this in 3D, though at times I struggled with the CTR effect being too much to really make out what something was or read. First time I jumped I got a good chuckle and "aw how cute" out if it (until I figured the true power of jumping: Climbing walls). Truly the one thing I want to complain about is the flashlight, like I like how its made and used, the way it's not just 4 way movement but 8 is really good, but at times I felt I was fighting with it, but I think the real problem was that the flashlight was not showing enough. Walking down stairs which were facing towards the camera became my first obstacle anywhere and the way you can get stuck on objects with the flashlight not helping you to see anything + something is blocking the camera view regardless made me really just dread going into any place dark, in a unfun bad way. And I am truly complaining because I think that was the one thing that took my out of the experience and god I wish it wasn't so. Because like said, the style was good, I liked the story, I liked effort you guys put in and I wanted to enjoy it fully. I also liked being able to climb walls but that's like besides the point here. Regardless it all, really great work guys here, sorry for the wall of text lol

I really loved the art styling and concept here, but the controls and camera really held back the experience for me. I'd be curious to see how y'alls game would play differently with a more mobile camera or maybe just fixing the camera or collisions so that the player couldn't get so close to the back wall of most spaces and obstruct the view. The visual of the player with the flashlight on/facing forward in the dark section of the library was really cool, too, but the fixed direction of the camera and way that the area was setup made it frustrating enough for me to give up my run. I'd be curious to check it out again if you folks end up iterating on this; it's really awesome work otherwise. Thanks for making and sharing your game!

Wow! how did you do that? It is very cool. I really liked the move with the last piece of the note)

A pretty nice art style

This game will find its audience, but personally I was bored. I just evaluate the games from the first minute. Addictive or not. It's simple) How is this visual effect created? Like blur or analog television. Is the shader like this?

Absolutely loved the art style and CRT shading! Story was intriguing and the atmosphere was suitably creepy.

The lighting was good, but it would be nice to have some way to independently move the flashlight. The camera tends to get stuck on walls and objects as well, which can get annoying. I also go stuck in an object (think it was a shelf?) after going into the study room, and had to restart the game.

It's truly a masterpiece. The programming and art design are absolutely fantastic. Looking forward to the full version.

Cute art and great music! I love how you dubbed it too! Funny thing tho, I climbed onto Chad's head, skipped straight into that room, and got stuck inside haha https://drive.proton.me/urls/KT5B9Z2Z8C#RtBjNNEu3uYM

Lovely art style. The clunky camera and the flashlight made navigation in the dark pretty hard though. And I feel like the stairway up to the 2nd floor on the right side is pretty easy to miss (could also just be a skill issue on my part). The collisions is also a lil wonky (I can just walk up and over Chad's head and into the blocked off area). Great game nonetheless!

All the characters looked charming! There was a lot of story here, and I feel like I missed some of it. I think I missed alot of the horror aspects of the game, but I also tend to forget what I'm reading so I might play the game again to see if I missed anything. good job!

I love how the characters are drawn in such a cute style but with unsettling expressions and black eyes. Right from the start of the game it makes you feel uneasy! Like some others said, the camera and flashlight made the upstairs sections a bit hard to navigate; although, I did appreciate the key items being highlighted even in the dark. Something you might consider is putting the south walls in a different collision layer so the player can't move through them but the camera can to prevent it from getting too squashed against the wall. I still really enjoyed the creepiness of the game and the fact that you were able to get voice acting done in a jam game!

The art, music, and concept is all really great. This looks like a game I would play outside of jams once fully developed. Really beautiful work on the 2d + 3d combo, and voice acting really elevates the characters with their artwork. Great team!

Very cute game ! Really liked the characters and aesthetics. Musicbox OST was creepy.

I did think the flashlight was borderline kind of useless upstairs? I really could only see things as I turned and it wasn't very helpful otherwise. I think the collision boxes also need adjustment, I had to restart a few times because I got stuck

As many have pointed out, the art style and the creativity are the stand outs for this submission. An interesting mix of 3d and 2.5d that could've used a bit more polish. The character design was amazing however.

And while creative, in my opinion, this 2.5d style just gets in the way of this kind of game? the camera controls feel clunky and eventually become annoying. The flashlight feels like it start too far from the centre making it sometimes difficult to see anything, not to mention the light gets obscured very easily making it completely dark. Similarly with the camera, walking in front of objects will suddenly zoom it on the character.

It feels like there is horror and story that I've missed out on as it seemed like it was building up well, but after talking to a few characters I simply got lost on what I was meant to do or where I was meant to go. It didn't help that moving around quickly grew frustrating.

The UI was also a highlight, however, it felt like it was missing a few things such as names for the items in the backpack, as well as a objective tracker.

I really liked this game all the art the sounds were on point however I did have to replay the game a few times because I got stuck in several positions and could not move but other than that I would say this is an amazing job

reallyyy cute!! :D good job on managing to do something this school in such a short timespan

The 2.5D style is really solid and underrepresented in gaming. Something I always enjoy whenever I come across it.

You did an amazing job. I really (really) like the artistic choices in your game. As the creative guy on my team, I was very sensitive to the graphic style. Too bad about the few camera issues, but it's a solid prototype you have there. I'm curious to see if you evolve it. Well done!

Ahhh!! Such an adorable game! I do adore the paper mario style gameplay. unfortunately, I got stuck in a corner and could not move ;;-;; I wished the flashlight could be navigated with the mouse instead of directional keys as it was a bit awkward trying to get past dark corners.

Lovely game though! Would like to see more ><
