This was really scary, and the entire concept feels fresh at first. I managed to get to the 7th floor! :D Is it endless?

Developer

Yes it is endless! We forgot to explain that...

Had a lot more fun with the shouting to open the door/recharge flashlight than I thought I would, really cool concept, and sfx made it very tense. The AI was a little easy to avoid, even with it constantly running to your location even if you are only walking. Really great overall!

Amazing work on post-processing effects, and I really like the way the lurker looks. Really unsettling. The main mechanic is really neat too - I had way more fun with the "shout to recharge" mechanic then I should have, lol.

Super tense game! Took some trial and error getting the hang of the lurker’s behavior. The microphone mechanic was very creative, but wasn’t explained or justified within the game world. Loved the music!

I thought it was a really creative idea to force the player to make noise that attracts the monster. I think it could have been done without a microphone though. For example, a crank flashlight and just pressing the button for the elevator could have made a noise. I felt a little silly sitting at my computer screaming haha. For me, the silliness of doing that took away from the amazing horror atmosphere and monster you created. I hope the feedback helps! Really great work.

I appreciate it! I think the concept we started with was the microphone integration, and we just stuck with it. I see what you mean but I also think the mic is a core part of the game. If it makes it a lil more silly than scary, i think it may be a worthy sacrifice. However, your idea is a great option for users that dont have mics! Thank you :)

this had me screaming, not gonna lie. My dog also got scared; no this was not a joke lmao

Developer

Lmao thank you!

A good small horror arcade!

The microphone mechanic is unique, but I feel like it hinders the game's popularity a bit.

Also, would be cool to have some sort of objective in the levels besides just leaving on the next elevator. But otherwise, it's fun!

Thank you!

How do you win? Good game best ive seen so far.

Developer(+1)

Theres no end to the game, its all about getting the highest score.

I thought the idea of shouting into the mic to recharge the light, but having the monster hear it as a drawback, was incredibly interesting! Nice aesthetic and the sounds are really bizarre (in a good way!). Great job!

Amazing execution and use of this mechanic! Great balance between alerting the monster and recharging the flashlight. I can totally see this being expanded with stuff like generators that u have to constantly speak or scream into in order to charge them, different enemies like one you have to scream at to scare away, the possibilities are endless. Hope you continue working on it because it has so much potential! Great visuals and sound design as well, that snap when u reach the treshold is SO GOOD. Overall amazing job, kinda jealous tbf loved this mechanic and execution hahahah

Love the gameplay idea, and I like how the lurker can be avoided if we stay still! Would love to see this idea expanded upon a fuller game! I would also love to see if the lurker starts a bit easy and slow and build up the difficulty

Cool mechanics!! Very freaky to tie the door to the microphone too !! I made it to level 8 :)

Thank you so much!

Very creative mechanic with having the lights and the door activation be tied to the player's microphone. I think it works very well in a horror setting. The AI is a bit silly, and I find it personally very easy to kite around, but given that the game was made in only a week, stuff like that can be excused. Additionally, for being your first released game, I think you all did a great job! Good stuff everyone!

Developer

Thank you for playing on stream and thank you for the feedback! We appreciate it

Awesome concept! The visuals of the monster were what got the game on my play list but the microphone component was well executed and a welcome surprise! I quickly understood how the monster worked, how to navigate the level and avoid the monster while keeping my flashlight going. Very clean and clear little game. I would love to see what a slow version of the game plays like. Slower monster, slower movement speed, slower battery drain on the flashlight.

Wonderful submission!

Glad I've had the time to test this one out! Really cool concept, using your voice that can draw the monster's attention to open doors and charge your flashlight is so well thought; BUT i think the monster is maybe too difficult to avoid, I feel that having a monster that has a really poor sight, but a great hearing might be more interesting (like the eyeless dog of lethal company, or some enemies in It Steals)
I spend most of the levels just running in random direction because the monster saw me when i exit the elevator, and rush toward the exit while screaming to open the door.
I like this concept a lot, and I can easily be expend into something more fleshed out!

Also the aesthetic is really charming! I love the vibe so much, and the shader on the UI is well made!

Developer

Thank you so much! I plan to continue updating the game after the jam is over to make it more fleshed out as the current version is just a demo. Appreciate the feedback <3

Very innovative! I got an unusually late package delivery, my doorbell got buzzed, my mic heard it and the lurker got me. Scared the crap out of me.

Developer(+1)

LMAO thank you for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Thats crazy. Definitley gonna be the most innovative project of this jam. Very interesting, I plan to come back and play when my families not in the room lol, but very impressive. Its smart how you balance the dude finding you with your voice. and the music slaps!

If you have the time it would be awesome if you checked out my game :D dont have to tho

Developer

Thank you so much! I hope so as well and of course I will check out your game!

Honestly, a terrifying and super creative game. I was wondering how this can be played unless you’re a streamer, since why speak? But making it a requirement to do tasks and charge your flashlight is so creative and really makes you manage risk and reward. It’s so scary having to scream and alert the monster when you need to reach the elevator.

Developer

Thank you so much!
