So much clicking, I made it to the end with the black screen and dots on screen. Voice acting might make these type of games more engaging.

Pretty cool game! I've only completed one ending so far. When I tried to get another by starting a new run, I got to the chatbox but it was stuck at Response 1, Response 2, and Response 3.

As for the route I did complete, I think building up the mystery of the chatbot was pretty neat. I like the storytelling format of switching between conversations with our friend, then the bot, then the intern. I didn’t really expect the twist either, so that was a nice surprise.

Really nice idea!

And this is why you don't download an app about a Chatbot who tries to be friendly with you.

Great jam submission!

Creepy as heck! I was surprised by how radically different the 2 endings I got were: one seemed like a conspiracy story and the other very cosmic!
I did run into a bug twice where the Enox chat started with no text and three response boxes. Had to completely restart when that bug came up.

This was one of the more interesting chat sims in the jam that I have run into. I wish the longer text could fit in the boxes better and not clip but it is a game jam so it doesnt effect the end result too much. Good job and good stories / endings

what a ride! Cool story, awesome music!

I'd slow down the chat messages when you receive more of them at once. It was stressing me out

really awesome game!! loved the art

I loved the art style, and it's a creative concept! I really enjoyed the vibe this game was going for, ENOX is quite creepy. I think better control of the speed of messages when you receive multiple in a row towards the end could make it a little easier to follow. Nice work, with some more polish this would be really solid!

Submitted

That was quite interesting! I got the prison ending haha xD  I'll have to go back and try to get the other two!

I loved all the early stuff with installing the chatbot and trying to press deny and it getting crappy at you xD  More of that stuff later in the game would of been good!  Nice work though :)

I definitely see the angle you were going for, even better, there's a lot of room for growth and expansion. Without a time crunch you could definitely do a lot with this game. Maybe more than just the chatbot, like events that happen around the player. Build up the horror sort of thing. You have a real diamond in the rough here. Keep up the good work!

What were the stars?

Developer(+1)

'eyes' are the closest analogue i can give ya.

i remember reading this horror story back when i was like, twelve or so? that had as its final twist that the 'stars' the main  POV character was seeing in the sky were actually the many eyes of an eldritch god and he could see *everything* the character had done up 2 that point & that freaked me out so much i had 2 homage it here years l8r.

ENOX as an entity was very strongly inspired by these types of cosmic/religious horror stories and i hoep that came across well. (^.^) i wanted 2 write an ending where ENOX came off as an explicitly eldritch being and ofc if i had more time 2 flesh out and refine the story id have done it way better but im satisfied w the way i ended up doing it w the whole ritual route.

Is this a chat simulator? For me, communication is boring.

This was definitely a game. I think I got all 3 endings but tbh 2 of them really dont correlate at all. It was definitely more of a funny experience than a horror experience.

Developer

elaborate?

I was confused about the ending with the stars, and also the ending with the "truth"? they just didnt make sense at all. and the prison exploding ending was hilarious

I always do love seeing people mimic operating systems inside of games, but yeah this was sweet little horror story, on my first run I feel it was left bit ambiguous about the story, but I personally enjoy those types stories >:)

I also encountered the same bug as Dotoloto, and to be honest, I really liked it; as in, major creeps when I didn't even open the email application and being basically jumpscared by Enox downloading. Sad that it seemed to be a bug, but worth thinking about for the possible future development! Regardless, very nice short story, good work!

thanks for playing! i purposefully tried to keep stuff vague but i wish i had more time to get deep into detail and do extra routes but w only had a week. maybe my team and i will revisit it sometime soon? no promises though.

I've played multiple routes to see all the choices, it's a very cool concept, Definity holds water for a full game, even more so if it functioned like MysticMessenger, it would really add to the creepiness and horror of it. I feel like the pacing of falling into insanity was a bit rushed but it's understandable given it's a Game Jam project. I especially enjoyed the idea of trying to sugma balls the eldritch horror chat bot, would be very funny if it resulted in some sort of victory.

One bug that I encountered was that when you start another run after finishing one scenario. The game seems to break: the Enox installs itself but then it's locked in a state with a response select screen and no action can progress the story.

Developer(+1)

i really had to crunch the pacing for the timespan of the jam, yeah. sorry about that. still glad you enjoyed. (´^ω^)

I always really enjoy things that simulate using a device! Enox was fun and creepy!

Developer

thank you!! ( ・∇・)

Liking the art style and the way the story draws you in. One thing when one person sends alot of messages, I’d like to be able to scroll up and read through them. I have quite bad dyslexia, so it’s hard for me to read that fast, especially while they’re moving up. I feel like the story was kinda cut off at the end to end it. I feel like you could’ve ended it more like an “oh no what happens next?” than what it was. Though overall, it was a pretty good experience. I like the sound effects, at first I really didn’t like the text noise, but it kinda grows on you for this kinda game :) Proud of you for doing such a good job. I hope to see a chapter 2 in this if you do, let me know :))

I was very amused that the game took place on a fake desktop like my game. :D Cool consept and execution !

Cool concept! That question about the phase of the moon was creepy.
