I remember getting big into Cookie Clicker back in the day. Super cool that you managed to implement so many staple features - particularly the skill tree - in a jam timeframe! Keeping this open on the side while I work. Great job!!

How does your game fit the theme?
As an incremental game, repeating previous progress is part of the core concept, hence looping. Additionally, the story changes between loops as the player completes more objectives, becoming increasingly eerie and unsettling as you go. The player is reminded that reality is just one click away

Smart take on the take, I felt in a loop indeed haha!
Also played while petting my cat, felt complete. Happyness: reached 🥰
I really enjoyed the concept, but I think that the progression could be made a little faster (I spent slightly under an hour playing). The skill tree mechanics are well-implemented, but I'd prefer if there was an option to use middle click for moving around the tree. The UI could do with some polishing to make it more intuitive to understand your stats (maybe by adding icons near the text?)
Anyways, I managed to get all upgrades, finished the game without breaking my mouse, and the game was very fun!
This is a fun idle clicker with relaxing music! I ended up getting a bunch of upgrades to the auto interval and let the happiness rack up while I did chores because manually clicking for so long made my hand tired. I know I haven't gotten to the end yet. I love the concept but for a jam game you want to make the pace a bit quicker, people tend to only spend at most ten minutes with a game.
One small thing I think would make this game a little better is sound effect variation! When a common action is going to be repeated often, I try to have 2 or 3 different variations of the effect play at random. However even if you only have one a nice trick to increase variety is to slightly modify the pitch by a random amount, most tools will let you do this! I like to start at .95 - 1.05 of the pitch and see how that feels for the particular effect and adjust from there. The slight variation helps the player not notice it's the same one or few sounds over and over again and makes the game feel a lot better even if they don't notice it consciously.
Awesome job, I will come back later to see the ending!
Hi, thanks for playing! Apologies for the manual clicking, it was an oversight on my part. Thank you for all the advice. I use a bit of pitch shifting with the clicking sounds, particularly when you click quickly. There's a combo system the player doesn't see that increases the pitch of clicks the faster they click. I didn't do this for other sound effects though, so definitely useful in those areas.
I hope you enjoy the ending!
Soooo, I liked it. The incremental part is well balanced (Even though, maybe it should be quicker for a gamejam ?). I was gonna say that the graphism are lacking and could go full on the cat theme, but the ending made me think that yeah, this was really useless in a way. So the "blank" aspect for how you interpreted the loop part is coherent.
But hey, using a cat icon and making a cycle of 8 instead of 9 because of the 9 cat lives is a missed opportunity >.<
Nice job !
Hey, thank you for your detailed feedback! How did I completely miss the 9 lives joke???? I called the game 8 because I initially intended only 8 loops and then the game ended, but it became 8 objectives and clicks instead. I 100% agree that it should be quicker for a gamejam, I didn't consider this while making it, but realised pretty soon after that most people only play for a couple minutes and move on. I'll keep this in mind for next time!
Anyways, thank you for playing!
A freaky but addictive interpretation of the theme! I got to the end, then went for all upgrades 100/100. A version of this with visuals zooming out from just petting one cat to a planet of cat-petting-factories would complement the absurd progression of the game!
Hey, thanks for playing all the way until the end! Yes I would've loved to do so much more with the visuals. I planned for the background to change from the dream-like cat theme to a more realistic background like a city skyline or a window, showing the player coming to terms with reality. Unfortunately I ran out of time!
I liked how things started to turn a bit eerie, but it was taking too long for these elements to come up and my hands started hurting. So I had to stop.
