Simple and yet an effective gameplay mechanic many old games used and had 10 years ago. Love the minimalistic art. I would say it's a bit disorienting once you miss a loop, because to get back to the original one you have to really try and go around and find it, which breaks the flow of the game. Maybe let the player continue with the next loops and just subtract a point from him, and if he's too far just bring him back to the main track. Apart from that, it's pretty fun. Well done!

How does your game fit the theme?
You loop over a race course - you can also do loopings with your ship. I recommend trying out a few different seeds, adding segments if you like a longer track & continuously repeating and looping to beat your own scores.
