Boo is an Idiot's main feature is that you are forced to shoot, though your shots will never leave the stage, but instead loop to the other side of the screen and right back at you. Your job is to dodge them while collecting the cheese to get to the end!

A cheerful platformer with unusual mechanics.

the progression felt good one stage taught us a mechanic then we had to use it in the next stage, honestly good job!
Yep, while me and Natescuff coded the mechanics, fixed bugs and polished the game BalloonLantern went HARD on the level design. He actually drew them on his notebook first which is why he could churn them out so quickly. It was a real honor working with this team and I'd gladly do it again if I could.

Amazing idea and execution! I especially loved how another instrument was added with each bullet that was looping through the level. Great work!
Thank you! That was actually one of our first ideas - how it actually works is it switches between different tracks depending if there are 0 or more bullets, 4 or more bullets and 8 or more bullets. BalloonLantern did a fantastic job with the music in my opinion!
Genuinely brilliant concept and execution! The gameplay is fun and challenging, and no level used the same trick twice. The real gold here is the artistry you've put into this. The pixel animation, visual design, voice acting(?!) and most of all- the adaptive music!!!! was chilling!!!
If I were to change anything at all about it, (it would certainly not be an aesthetic change jeez louise) It would be to make the bullets easier to dodge in some way! Sometimes I died before I even realized what happened (maybe some hitboxes are too big?). I barely got to hear the adaptive music in all it's glory, since i was never able to survive long in any level, and had to rely on finishing it as quickly as possible!
Either way, this oozes of care and dedication, and the final result is a cohesive, brutal, beautiful game, that is undoubtedly a standout submission to a gamejam!

This is my favorite game of the jam, I will be SEVERELY DISSAPOINTED if this doesn't win. You guys did a superb job on everything, the only thing I could hope for would be story, just to get those last stars in narrative. really, really great game. 9.8/10. And LOOK I DREW BOO :DDD

In all seriousness i'm so glad you enjoyed our game so much, we're thinking of updating it to be a full game in the future, and we're definitely not stealing this expression if we do. Probably. Maybe. No promises~

Sick game! The core mechanic is very fun and creative an the super clean and snappy look and sound pulled it together well. The pressure of having to beat level fast before the got too unmanageable made for some frantic gameplay.
The only two things you could consider changing: I think it would be cool if you were able to use the dash to dodge projectile and the indicator for when you fire you next shot could be a bit more clear.
The game is funny and charming! I enjoyed the levels I played and the looping bullet mechanic that comes back to bite you adds natural difficulty to the game. Great job!

Super cool! I liked figuring out the best direction to look in case boo shot for no reason to avoid getting hit in the future. Boo is quite the character and also an idiot. Nicely done!
