How does your game fit the theme?
Journey Through Dark requires you to craft a path for your hero to follow. The only way to keep the gold you loot is to loop the path back to your camp. Any gold you make it to camp with can now be spent on upgrades to extend your runs and explore further. Keep the loop going.

Good game
This is a really unique take on the theme and I had a lot of fun with it! I ended up playing it for much longer than any other game this jam. My only complaint is that I once got softlocked by running out of tiles to move to and had to restart. I'm really interested to see what you do with it next, as it has a lot of potential! Great work!
Yeah I didn't test that thoroughly enough! If you block yourself in it's supposed to say something about the hero getting lost but it only works if you don't have another card to still play.
I really appreciate the kind words!
I enjoyed the game very creative idea!
Thank you!
Fun game for a short bit, there are quite a bit of RNG to it so a bit of luck can make a run go differently (not being able to loop back for example). Would be nice to have more cards for more diversity or more enemies (I think I saw rat, skeleton warrior, and spider?)
There are a total of 5 enemies right now. Different tiles can yield different enemies. With the time I had I was only able to make 2 of them unique in any way but they all have different stats.
RNG will remain a part of the game even as I restart development for the full game but I will expand on it in ways to help with that.
I appreciate you playing it though!
Very nice, gave me Loop Hero vibes. Great job on doing so much cool art in such a short timespan!
I actually enjoy it, played several games and find it quite fun. The game truly worth being expanded and even not expanded I'll come back and play it just for fun. The experience will be better if I can change my card selection before actually putting it on the map cuz I sometimes accidentally pick up the wrong card.
Very similar to Loop Hero. It is a fun concept that could improve with some extra mechanics and more variety in the enemies you encounter.
reminds me of blue prince
This is awesome! I would absolutely play the full version of this game! And I love how you expressed the theme! I especially enjoyed the path blockers that would show up sometimes; that's a great way to add a bit of stress and uncertainty to the player! Well done, one of the favorite games of the jam so far!
Lots of potential! Absolutely loved this one! Well done!
Wow I really liked this one! Reminded me a lot of Loop Hero, it was a nice balance of risk vs reward and encouraged to take more risks. Good job, especially for a solo project!
Love the table top type idea. Would be good to have a fast forward button to go with it. Love the adventure!
Great game! I have no complaints. I can definitely see myself playing more of this. Love the art too!
Very cool concept and awesome execution!
If I had to nitpick, I’d suggest adding a fast-forward button or an option to skip combat encounters (Heroes style).
Also, wow! I saw your future plans for the game, and all I can say is—it’s an incredibly well-thought-out project. You’ve done an amazing job building it solo!
Very cool game! This concept definitely has legs to be a full game! It gives a bit of a Loop Hero feel but mechanically sets itself apart by a lot. All I was left wanting was more variety but in the time you were given this was a great success. I would add special tiles and locations that pre spawn on the map like chests, dungeons, items, etc. This would give the player a reason to be tempted to go further and further out. Tempt them with greed! Loved it, keep up the good work and I hope to see more from this game.
I liked it a lot! It's definitely one of the most original game concepts I've played this jam, and I definitely think that a full game is deserved for this idea! My only issue is that I had no clue what I was supposed to do at the beginning, so I had to spend some time trying to figure that out. Great game!
Yeah I realized that and I'm a little upset with myself that I didn't spend 5 minutes just creating a text pop-up on the first run telling you to connect back to camp or something. I was just so limited on time that I didn't even have time to think about it.
no worries, it was pretty intuitive once I got it
Love the game! I really like the idea and how it requires you to think about the return journey, sound was great, but I think some music would have really added to it
Well done!
Nice game! I’d love to see how you continue working on it in the future.
Very unique idea, loved discovering the game mechanics and how it related to loop! I hope you continue to develop the game!
Thank you so much! I am absolutely going to continue development on this, I have so many ideas of ways to improve the game.
This game is so coool!! I love how conceptually it's simple but you can still focus on different upgrades and have to think about your next step. Amazing work! Would definitely play if it turns into a full game
I appreciate it! Once I had the idea I knew I needed to keep the actual interaction between the player and the game simple so you're able to focus on the strategy of it. Unfortunately, like everyone else, I had to cut a lot of content to make it on time but I'm still very happy with the current state of it.
