Wow that was extremely well done and very fun! As many people have said, it really does feel like celeste, but not only in its platforming, but also its overall vibe. The pixel art and music are incredible and the gameplay itself is also very fun! I like how concepts are slowly introduced as you climb and I can definitely see this game expanding into something bigger. Great work!
Fun: it's like a mix of Jump King and Celeste, love it, great work, there is some aspect of platforming that can be added, like max gravity, gravity is too strong.
Presentation: really like the art style and sound design, amazing.
creativity: start climbing, but dying pushes you down instead of killing, really good, fits the theme well
Very neat platformer game like Jump King or Celeste. I liked the aspect of having to be strategic about double jumps. Good work!
Good stuff here! The level design was actually pretty on point and failing was also enjoyable in the way like "getting over it", sometimes a little unfair but also what makes it worth keep trying again and again.
WOW! Just.... WOW! This game is amazing! You did all of this on your own? The music? The pixel art? The programming? The... (gestures wildly at the whole screen)? AMAZING JOB! I love it so very much! It wasn't too difficult, but I absolutely loved Celeste and pretty much any precision platformer is right up my alley so you got me hooked! I do apologize that I wasn't able to get to your game earlier today, but am I so glad I played this before the rating period ended. Amazing work! And it's your first jam game? So GOOD! ❤
ABSOLUTE CINEMA!! it's impressive how this is your first jam. each category in this game are peak, i cant complain about anything, maybe only for arrow keys instead of WASD, but honestly who cares when the game is such a masterpiece! really great job, it game me a lot of emotions!
This is the first game I’ve ever rated five stars across every category—and it’s from a first time jammer!?
The game is amazing! It’s a Fodian-style experience, perfectly sized for a game jam submission. The mechanics are simple and intuitive, the theme is executed flawlessly, and the difficulty curve is impressively balanced.
All of this is wrapped in beautiful art, immersive music, and a tasteful touch of visual effects.
And the kicker? It was all made by one person! Am I jealous? (Maybe.) But definitely shocked.
I wouldn’t be surprised if it wins, to be honest. An absolutely stunning piece of work!
For me it's too hard maybe because I have claws instread hands but I like it. Game is amazing. Idk how you did it on scratch.
10 falls to start of 10
For a first game jam, this is an excellent game. Some of the jumps can be a bit fickle, but aside from that it comes together very nicely.
Some things to note that I encountered while playing the game:
Whenever I wasn't full screened while I was first playing and couldn't see the walls on both sides of the screen. As a result the first spikes wall became a lot harder as I thought I had to jump to the other side of that wall, then jump up as far as I could to then jump and dash to just make it to the next platform... Technically, it did work, but it is pretty specific of timing. But this is moreso an issue of resolution rather than gameplay since I just couldn't see that there was another wall to the right of that first spike.
I think you're already aware of it since you made note of it, but if not the second spikes area, the platform that you can fall on can get you locked into a jump/fall.
Sometimes on platforms you can get caught on the edge and be stuck in a fall pose, but you can still jump, though moving platforms don't recognize you as being on them.
The first falling platforms area has a spot that you get caught on while crossing them.
That's what I caught while playing through my brief look of the game, overall very well designed, I'd look forward to seeing what more it can become if you do choose to expand upon it. Fantastic work, keep it up for the games to come!
Very good Celeste-style game. This game was very fun and very good design and feel for the character movement. This game does not feel like it was made by a newbie, with the level design and the simple art to help make animating the character easier. I am highly impressed by how unpunishing falling actually is, almost any time a fall, if I hit spikes, I would be launched to platforms.. Judging from the animations, VFX, and sounds from this game, I would say you have been making games for a while.
The controller is smooth and very easy to use. The character designs remind me of lora croft. Well done on this game
Glitches found:
- Corner dashing launches you pretty high up (keep this as speed runner tech lol)
- Near the bottom, there is a section where you have to jump between two walls, and the one on the right has a ledge sticking to the right. when jumping across the gap there and you hit the spikes you will get launched toward that little cliff meant to catch you but you get stuck in the fall animation. Well done.
This was a good game! I get which kind of game you wanted to make, and it is very good in what you are looking for.
When I just started the game, from the melancholic music, UI design and the colossal background, I saw clear inspiration from Hollow Knight (maybe not! please answer)
So the difficulty is a bit unforgiving. I was at the castle and fell 2 times consecutively into the start of the game, thats where I stopped playing :(
Will try to go to the top next time. Good job with the level designn! Would love to have controller support of some sort added into this, I'm so bad with the keyboard lol.
I did not think over there ( Hollow Knight) , but maybe i did that unknowingly
It was pretty good! I don't deal that well with games that punish you severely at times if you fall, but I liked it personally :D
I found it to be rather hard. I couldn't make it past the first spiky thing =p But good job! It looks good and the wall jump works well.
cool game
Ok I thought "this is going to be such a nice chill game, cute art, beautiful sound design..." and then I fell like 1700 feet. YAAAAAAAAAA!!! Really really nice game overall, very impressive work for 10 days. I might suggest adding some sort of checkpoint system or level select (only for the evaluation period) so people like me who are bad at this kind of game can still experience the later parts of your project ;)
Short but sweet, consistently quality throughout the whole experience. Looks like you knew exactly what you wanted to achieve and didn't get distracted by scope creep. Level design was great. The intended challenge was very clear, but certainly not easy. Well done!
This game is really good! The music fits the vibes so well. The movement generally feels nice. I love the little dust cloud after dashing and the camera shaking.
I find the controls somewhat weird. If it were me, I'd add a WASD option, space as an alternative for jump, and left shift for dash.
Yep thinking on making a rebind keyboard options
This is a wonderful project. Considering that all of the visual assets were made within the 10 day submission period, it's incredible that you managed to make all of them, design a gameplay experience with a lot of fun challenges and a smooth difficulty gradient, and get the movement controls working so responsively before the deadline. This level of work is frankly aspirational. Excellent job, and congratulations on entering your first game jam!
Awesome game! It's incredible that this is your first jam. I really liked the core mechanic — the way the character can climb reminded me of a game called Transformice. The difficulty feels just right, but you could consider delaying the dash a bit more, as it currently makes the game feel easier. Or maybe make the crystals reset the dash too.
The only issue I had was with the stone platforms that fall after a while — I couldn't walk forward, as it seemed like the platforms weren't properly aligned, really reminded me of Hellstuck. Good game.
Very fun and interesting concept, it kinda reminds me of celeste, but that is just my opinion, very good game.
