Cool entry! It's funny because I'm actually working on a big project that's very very similar to this, so it was cool to see someone else's take on "flappy bird platformer"

Submitted(+1)

It took me a while to get the controls, but once I understood them it was really fun. It definitely seems designed as a rage game like Getting Over It, but with flappy bird controls. Awesome game, I think it could do well with some animations, sounds, and maybe a short tutorial. I really liked the controls once I got them figured out and overall I thought it was super fun. Good job 👍

The controls feel responsive, the gam is fun but frustrating(which is, of course, intended:D), so I can with confidence say that it's a fun, great game!

The concept is pretty creative but for me the controls are just too hard and unresponsive it felt even inconsistent.

The idea is nice, and I think if you work on it and make it smoother to play it could be really fun!

I saw that a lot of people did like the controls so maybe it's just not for me and that's ok!

The style is simple, and it works! when you add SFX it would be really satisfying

Overall good work!

Good rage game! xD

The controls were interesting, and it took some time to get used to them. After that though, it was quite fun to find the right rythm between jumping and changing direction. The level design was very punishing, and personally I liked the beginning the least because it was very easy to hit the walls without feeling like I made much progress. I spent a little over 30 min playing without reaching the top, but I might come back to try finish it later.

controls were a bit strange to figure out first, but then i figured it out and found tech where i spammed left and right to go pseudo-straight up. hell of a lot of fun, even if i haven't finished it yet

Clever game. I like the idea of a platformer with flappy bird mechanics. I think you need to work a bit on the level design to make the early levels a little more player friendly. I found some parts a bit hard in the beginning. That being said the core game play and idea are very solid and I could easily see this as a steam title once completely finished. Overall really well done.

Great job for a first game!

It took me 28:55 to beat it in the first try, and my best time is 0:56!

I liked the idea of the game and the simplecity of the art, and had fun trying to reach the finish line, and the game was almost bug free!

I think the controls are interesting but they need some polishing. The level design also need some work because the difficulty is inconsisting especialy at the second floor . And making the smallest mistake is so puniching , I literally fell from the last section to the very begining many times!

but aside from that I really enjoyed it!

Great job on your first game! The controls are interesting because it adds another layer of difficulty on top of the standard timing your tap right in Flappy Bird. It took me a few minutes to understand how exactly the controls work and that hitting a wall basically stops my inputs from registering until I drop. But once I understood better how the game works I had fun trying to get past the first part of the level. Good job!

Really enjoyed this game. Reminds me a lot of jump king and getting over it with the almost unwelcoming yet fair controls and the unforgiving nature of a single mistake. Could definitely see this being developed further to have different areas that guarantee some safety if you fall so you do not end up back at the start every time, and then each of these areas elaborating on the controls with some new mechanic possibly. Great game!

Conceptually, this is pretty solid. You talked in my other post about how your game was just a white square, but sometimes simplicity will do, and I believe this is one of those cases. Although it is one of those rage-inducing games as people have mentioned, it is quite well designed for it and in some ways better than some of those other already existing rage-inducing games. I personally would like to see what you can make from this from here, especially as a first game/first game jam idea. It's a good groundwork to make something more from it and if you plan to, I'd like to see it. That all said, very good stuff to start, keep up the good work, and if you do continue to make something more from this, let me know

I like the concept, and I wish there was some sort of background music to it, I understand that it is a rage game, and it is fun, but If I could change a few things it would probably be so you don’t get a random bounce effect after colliding with a wall which you can turn off in Unity, or apply a new material which bounciness is 0, or go this route but make it more polished, like some sort of screen shake to emphasize you just bounced off of a wall… another thing I noticed is and I wish it was implemented is that you could “save” yourself after a long fall, I know it’s your first jam, but probably implementing a timer to 1 or 0.5f to give the player their jump back would make the game more fun instead of just watching your character fall all the way down, as I just hopelessly spammed spacebar in those moments :P and also just make the collision box on the lower end of transparent platforms a tiny bit higher, so it’s more forgiving to head-bonks. But overall I see the potential for a great rage-game

Thank you so much for the feedback, i will try and take that into consideration :)

nice game but i cant tell what i have to do i can only press space but when i got to the first wall i could not pass but i can feel that is you first game and its a great start you can keep going and take advice from the people to improve your self

Submitted(+1)

Basicly you can flap, aka jump unlimited times, but the moment you touch a wall you fall down

Submitted

This reminds me of Battletoads on NES. I appreciate this for what it is, but the difficulty is not my jam. I ended up jamming left and right and then pressing jump to basically go up in a straightish line. (The exit is where it usually fails). Here's a picture that illustrates where I ended up in 8 minutes :-(.

I wonder if it would've been better to have 5 key control scheme: Move left, jump left, jump up, jump right and move right?

I was too bad to finish it but a flappy bird platformer is an awesome idea. I know it's a rage game but I wish it didn't just freeze the controls the second you touch a platform, and that it didn't take a few seconds to launch back off the ground (the jumping felt kind of unresponsive in general), that all felt clunky in an unintentional way that didn't really enhance the rage-y experience but idk, I'm really bad at games so it could be a skill issue lol. This has a lot of potential and it would be awesome to see it continued and improved! Good job!

Flappy bird + plataformer? PERFECT!

Really loved the game concept its literally flappy bird but as a platformer i as you already know the game lack some art and some sfx and music but anything else was really well made loved it, also the fact that when colliding all the code disactivates until you touch the ground again felt too punishing but i like it kind of the same concept of only up.

Lmao I couldn't figure out at first what was going on, but when I did I wish I didn't because I afterwards I just rage XD. I don't play many rage games so I can't say for sure if such fiddly controls and mechanic are par for the course. But I could see this appealing to certain types of people. It's definitely not something I'll seeking out myself though haha.

Developer

even thought it is not your type im glad you saw the potential ;)
