Fun game! I struggled a bit with the controls, at times they didn't respond or were just too difficult for me but loved the retro pixel vibes and the overall mechanic concept!
fun game, art is good and the control gotta be better but nice game
The controls are... not for me, way too unresponsive. To me, it feels like I'm controlling a freighter.
But with that out of the way:
The style of this game is great! The music, the sound of the dash, the intro, the transitions oh my! Definitely a 5/5 on presentation.
Fun game, but I concur with others that the movement is tricky. I like the sounds and retro style of this game.
This is a solid visual style combined with a solid theming, but like most others have said the movement is tricky and with levels like the long corridor at the start in the first level and the second levels multiple poles/ropes in a tiny corridor it's a bit rough from the get-go. I think as well that there's too many small corridors to climb through from the start and including a new mechanic that kinda makes it easy to bump into a wall in a small corridor is also a bit rough, and at that point, you're just better off using the dash action instead of trying the rope/poles. I'd say maybe open up some space for the first few levels, maybe reduce down the horizontal areas from going on long enough to make the player want to speed up but then have to awkwardly slow down when faced with new obstacles, fine-tune the controls and you'll be having a great game to come. But for a first game jam, this is a decent start, fine-tune some things for the game and you'll certainly have something great on your hands to come. Best of luck on your game if you choose to continue to develop this one, and as well best of luck on the game dev side to come

really like the aesthetic and look/feel of the game!! you clearly care a lot about how your game looks and that's awesome, playing this game takes me back to the time i used to play similar games on my old nokia with games like nova or bounce xd
i think the gameplay is interesting for sure, you basically have to work against your own inertia while trying to glide along the x axis, which is fair, but the y axis doesn' t need to obey this, which is rather awkward to get used to imo
i also got trolled thinking i could carry more than one box at a time :sob: but that's a me issue
Very nice. However, the controls felt strangely unresponsive. Other than that, great game!
Wow you really nailed the retro vibes, 5/5 on presentation! 馃敟
Realy enjoy this one, the gameplay is interesting, but I think it lacks in certain aspects, my main issue with the movement is that you can't turn immediately, which implies the turning is based on momentum I think? Anyways, it just doesn't feel fair when I press left and it still going right and kills itself haha, that's really it, you really nailed the presentation, add more levels and interesting obstacles, you got yourself a pretty neat game. As a fellow newbie, congratulation on finishing yur first game! 馃帀
I like the style of the fact that you added the logo of the jam in pixel art at the start was a good detail, going full pixel retro at it. The game was fun. it can be a bit complicated but with some refinement in the movement you could make a good retro flying platformer.
It鈥檚 pretty difficult, but I like the puzzle platforming elements involved in getting the packages to the houses. The dash mechanic also has a lot of potential, for you can use it to quickly bring down your speed as needed. I think that with some tighter maneuvering, you could use the dashing to its fullest advantage.
Love the retro pixel art and the idea is really interesting. However it's a little difficult to play because of the movements that sometimes don't responde to the input (the left/right turn). Maybe, as you said, it was due to issues exporting the game here, I don't know. Anyway you did a great job!
Really liked this game gave a very retro feel!
Great stylized game, I genuinely think you nailed the retro feel! The first time I stopped playing the game at the sawblades because I had not yet found out that I could dash :') (the previous level took me about 5 minutes to complete). But I will definitely continue playing the game after figuring out the dash because I think it is so charming, super well done on this and genuinely so very impressive for your first jam, congrats!
Well done for your first game!
10/10 would fly right into a fake powerup again
The Nes look and feel are really authentic in this one. From the 8-bit tunes and effects to the relentless difficulty. Well made!
fist things first: really cool pixel art and presentation.
I would add a small tutorial to introduce the controls and the dash. It seems that there is no way to cancel the dash early. If this is intended I would add a visualization for the dash duration (e.g. a progress bar in the GUI or over the player.
The controls are a little bit clunky, I think the main issue is that the player speed adds up for horizontal movement. If I press twice to the right, I also need to press twice to switch direction from right to left. This can also be a valid decision, but then I would make the steps more clear and also add a visual indicator (other animation)
But great work for only 9 days! keep up the good work!
This game broke me. Especially that last level with the water had me stutter like porky pig. The movement a lot of time felt unresponsive because he wouldn鈥檛 turn, even after deliberately slowing to a level where he would or the dash up/down input just wouldnt go through and made me crash into the ceiling and watch in pain as the lil guy slowly descended to his doom over the span of 2 seconds.
I personally don鈥檛 mind the difficulty if it felt more responsive and like it was my mistake that led me to die. You could for example remove or slow down the automatic acceleration, so you dont need to constantly hold back and hope as much!
Beating it with ~130 deaths had me feel like I was beating spelunky 2 again.
the art and presentation was neat too and I really like the idea overall! A few tweaks on the difficulty and you have yourself a solid game!
Yeah, it is a very tight time window where you can get through. You basically had to move as low as possible and dash into it while the water is still flowing down so that you get to it right as the animation resets.
It took me like 15 tries out of which I got it in 4. I then died at the easiest part 3 times haha.
The end screen was the little guy sitting on the ground and telling me to get through with less deaths, so I think that I made it?
Hey I loved the art style and the music. I think the gameplay should maybe be a little easier at the beggining, I really had trouble with that first package lol. Pretty fun though, good movement mechanics.
Man I had a lot of fun, got stuck at 3rd level). Will try to beat it later, but overall it is a good game and I like the difficulty of it. One issue of mine would be that you can't take more packages at a time, for example in the second level it would have saved some time to just get both packages and deliver them.
Also the artstyle is great, loved it!
