End life plan
Our project is open source (aside from branding elements), like all of our projects will be. More so, our code and assets are both under copyleft licenses (though some third party assets have different licenses).

Basically this means that if our code or assets are used in other projects, the source code for those projects, and our assets and their derivatives, would also need to be open source. This helps spread open source beyond even the initial impact of the project.

The game will also stay up on itch.io, but will also be playable on our own site, to ensure there isn't a single point of failure.

Transparency note
All gameplay was made during the jam, however we do start our projects from a template project which handles some shared needs across all projects, such as license files, git attributes, and things like project and export settings for Godot.

In terms of game code or assets, this template also includes our splash screen/company logo, code to save and load settings, and code to allow for remappable controls, and some helper functions related to setting or tracking focus on UI elements.

All other game specific code, assets, etc. were created (or in the case of third party assets like music, fonts, and a few sound effects, found) during the jam.

It sounds like you yourself do the voice-over for the game characters. A very interesting game

Developer(+1)

Yup! We did all the voice acting, even for the slime, haha.

Thanks for giving the game a try!

this game is so fun!!! definitely would have love more waves. squishing skeletons with a giant slime feels very good for some reason xd making the smile with softbody physics must have been difficult right? i also love the voice acting i didn’t except it xd. great job!! :D

Developer(+1)

Yeah, the slime physics was the hardest part for sure. Most of the time working on the jam was spent on getting it to work

We're glad you liked the voice acting! If we can make time for it and it fits the game, it's always a fun thing to add in.

Thanks and thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

Wish it was longer. The slime sound effects really added a lot to the game experience! Good job!

Developer

Yeah, there's lots of room to expand it for sure.

Glad you liked the sound effects and thanks for playing!

Very cool and short experience with an interesting take on the jam's theme! It reminded me of the Gish game and was really fun to play! Good job

Developer

We're so glad you had fun, thanks for giving it a try!

Congratulations on a beautiful project with clean code! I like the effects and the clever skeleton idea. There's definitely room for more content. :D

Developer(+1)

Thank you, we're glad you enjoyed it

We try to strive for clean code when we can, which is definitely harder in a game jam, so we appreciate the call out!

This is absolutely adorable! Especially seeing how the skeleton remains keep jiggling around within the blob, and once I had one of the enemies land on top of - this is so much fun!
Special thanks for including the source code - it looks very clean for jam code, and very neatly organized. Right now I'm through "blob.gd" and figuring out how you've implemented the soft body physics controller, since I wouldn't even know how to approach such a task.

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much! We thought it was really satisfying when you get skeleton parts inside of yourself for a bit so we were very glad we were able to keep that without making the blob physics weird.

Super cool to hear you took a look at our source code too but now we're just embarrassed we didn't get around to renaming it to slime.gd

But yeah, going in, we thought the blob system would be able to be done using just some spring joints and such and ended up spending a lot of time figuring it out when that didn't work.

Very charismatic and fun, I loved the physics and the sound effects, especially the voice acting. I enjoyed it, thanks for the game.

Developer

We're glad you enjoyed it, thanks for playing!

Really fun game, the floaty soft body physics with the satisfying squish landing and all of the sound effects 😚👌chef kiss. I think if this character was used in a larger project it would be great, they have a lot of personality. The voice acting adds a lot of charm too. Nice work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! We're glad it was satisfying, that's what we were going for.

Thanks for the nice comments and thanks for playing!

Cool game. I like the goofines of it.

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Go goofy or go home, right? Haha.

Submitted(+1)

You bet. :D

Incredibly satisfying gameplay with the SFX and physics, well done on this! I’m impressed with the slime simulation, it must’ve been tough to get it right.

Developer

Thank you!

The slime physics was definitely the biggest hurdle to get over, and even at this point its still a little buggy.

Submitted(+1)

The art style is adorable, and the game was fun, though there was an occasional physics glitch when jumping on an enemy, but was a lot of fun!

Developer

Thank you!

Yeah, the physics were really tricky for this one. We can just blame it on the slime being really slippery, right? Haha.

Submitted(+1)

OK this is epic.

Developer(+1)

We're so glad you liked it!

Voice acting at the beginning is top tier, uhm especially for the slime, haha. This was very satisfying to play!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! Adding in a little voice acting is always a lot of fun.

Submitted(+1)

really cool concept, and well crafted!!

Developer

Thanks so much!

Interesting story, you guys support slime! When the slime jumps, it hits the chains on the ceiling, which is awesome. And all the music and sound effects are just right.

One problem is that when I play, the slime often can't “eat” the enemies, so they stay alive and attack. Is it because the slime is too small at that point?

Developer

Thanks for playing!

To crush the skeletons, you have to press down (so either S or the down arrow key). It gives you more smooshing power!

Submitted(+1)

Wow, fun game! Loved the story and voice acting 😂, really well done with all the graphics and audio stuff! The game itself was fun as well, great job on this one!

If you have time and are willing to rate my game as well, it would be really appreciated!

Developer

Thank you! We're glad you had a good time!

Submitted(+1)

The first time I played I got launched into the sky haha, other than that it was fun "sqooshing" all the skeletons. Sometimes the sprite broke a little bit but didn't affect gameplay, great game!

Developer(+1)

Oof, yeah, there's a rare chance that that can happen. We added a restart button in the pause menu solely because of that.

Sometimes the physics just can't handle all that blobbyness, haha.

Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+1)

I'd say if you found a way so that you came crashing down it would be a feature instead of a bug haha it was certainly funny when it happened

Submitted(+1)

Voice acting is always fun, free entertainment. LOVE the fact that Dissolver's The Sqoosher's voice is just some mysterious slimey sound, and that it's not just the same slimey sound being re-used.

It's simple fun, what's not to love?

Developer

Thank you! I'm glad you noticed the different slimey sounds. We thought if we did the same noise over and over it would feel too one note.

Submitted(+1)

Great game! I had a lot of fun squashing the skeletons and dodging the arrows! Does your health decrease over time? I couldn't tell. Also the voice acting was well done! Great job with this game!

Developer

We're so glad you had fun!

Yeah, health decreases over time and also when you get hit by an arrow. The idea was that as you're moving around you're losing your slime, too.

Thanks so much!
