Description
everything by tlsp (me), EXCEPT TRACK 7, which was co-produced by KaleOverlord

So, I separated the soundtrack into 3 acts. The first act having a chiptune style, the second having breakbeats in it, and the third being more club, house oriented. I separated the soundtrack because I wanted it to have a story, that I divided it into separate parts. So I did the same thing with the soundtrack.

For the "game" itself, I imagine this being a 2d RPG kinda game that switches between top-down and sidescrolling gameplay.

I also suggest reading the story in the main page of this submission for clarity on the soundtrack (click the cover art on the left)

ACT I: GOOD LUCK, HAVE FUN
01 - SETTING
02 - REAL WORLD
03 - PLASTIC CAFE
04 - RELEASE, ATTACK / SWEATY PALMS

ACT II: CURTAIN CALL
05 - BATTLE AT THE THEATRON
06 - ACT RIGHT NOW
07 - DASTARDLY ENTITY (co-produced by KaleOverlord)
08 - WEAVE ACROSS THE DANCE FLOOR

ACT III: FLASHING LIGHTS
09 - CRUNCH TIME
10 - UNKNOWN
11 - MANIC MALFUNCTION

ANYWAYS, mandatory yap time

i made this whole thing in fl studio and i mostly used serum and 3x osc and a whole lotta samples and random sounds from kits i found for these songs. i also used a TON of bit crush and distortion

i made the cover art in paint.net

inspiration for this project came from many places, artists that i'm listening to right now like Jane Remover, Underscores, blah blah blah or maybe soundtracks from some video games like Deltarune. though alot of it was really just trying out some ideas i've had in my head for a while

Message from the artist
making this messed up my sleep schedule, still had a lot of fun making this!!!

Theme

Freedom

How does it fit the theme?
I based this whole thing off of the text theme. I interpreted it as having the freedom to anything artistically and musically, and so I made the OST as having a bunch of different sounding songs in it. Kind of basic but, it's cool

Didn't get to leave a comment when rating before, but this is SUPeR GOOD dude !! PHONK was not on my bingo sheet of the jam - it's amazing how you applied those kind of ideas here to a video game context, breakbeat, sampling alongside chiptune and synths. I feel that kind of language is really compelling to apply to the video game sphere, so it's amazing to see you bridge it here in a way that's your own and really works. Your meme songs too are awesome :3 with really nice production chops, keep it up!!

hello. this is the last submission for this jam that i have rated. THIS IS REALLY GOOD. i've said this a couple of times elsewhere but i LOOOVE the Everhood vibes i get from how diverse and distinct the tracks are in your soundtrack. you having lots of tracks in your submission is amazing and helps me really feel comfortable saying this for yours as well. thank you providing a follow-along story as i listen through! i really like that a lot of the tracks transition to one another, which does however reframe the soundtrack as more of a storytelling device itself instead of distinct track loops for actual videogame usage.

"BATTLE AT THE THEATRON" and "ACT RIGHT NOW" were my favorite overall!! the theatrical sound of the battle theme keeps up a good energy level throughout. altogether, this soundtrack was amazing and really took me on a journey in your story (which. i hope said story doesn't come to life around me because that's gonna start feeling like inception) — the ideas and production are spot on!! some small adjustments to some track mixes would be all that's needed.

The variation in this one is really impressive for the time window. It does feel like one of the most complete entries I've listened to, and I love how it meanders between styles, each track feels very distinct from the others but holds on to a consistent vibe. My favorite track was PLASTIC CAFE!

I love your style, I think all the samples and breakbeats with such heavy effects on them sounds really interesting. I really love BATTLE AT THE THEATRON, I know it's basically that sample doing the heavy lifting but your addition of the breakbeat and the bass make it sound amazing! My favourite has to be PLASTIC CAFE though, that filtered bass is such a good idea and I really like the chords. Fantastic job overall!

Was that the minecraft anvil break sound? lol

Having three acts worth of music in such a short time is very impressive! BATTLE OF THE THEATRON was my favorite, loved the sound design there. I do think the WOOs in ACT RIGHT NOW got a little distracting haha. The storytelling throughout was great. Nice job!

I'm very happy to see someone making a lot of music, to really bring the world building into play.
Makes it feel like I'm listening to a real OST here! It's the little things that matter to me like a Cafe theme.
I also love the ear candy presented in some tracks, especially 06.

A lot to dig into here! SETTING is the first track I've heard that really leans into the chiptune genre for its fundamentals. Always a vibe, no matter how simple the waves are.

REAL WORLD reminds me of some sort of level or overworld theme. Percussion is nice and crispy here and adds some groove to the tune.

PLASTIC CAFE is where we first here some divergence in genre and I have to say I love how understated the drums are in this, complementing the change in synth voicing with some really nice sound-design oriented textures.

RELEASE ATTACK/SWEATY PALMS diverges further with some more elaborate patches. Vibe is much moodier off the bat, and the melody lines in this are really memorable. I feel as though I could imagine this being in something akin to Super Meat Boy - it feels like it would fit seamlessly.

As for BATTLE AT THE THEATRON - I dig the horns opening this up. Shoutout the breakcore beats - always a sucker for those. Some really nice textures layered under the main score here. It also has a rather perfect transition into ACT RIGHT NOW which again reminds me of how well these tracks could fit into an existing game.

WEAVE ACROSS THE DANCEFLOOR  has me thinking something like Hotline Miami - some really cool voicings here and some strange SFX and sound design to provide some fun textures to push the envelope even further. Parts of this track really remind me of something Feed Me would do in the earlier days.

CRUNCH TIME is a classic oldschool-on-modern equipment vibe. Simple waves, catchy melodies. Does wonders.

Both UNKNOWN and MANIC MALFUNCTION lean back into that breakcore and DnB vibe that get me grooving. Nice variety of moods in these tracks; each serving a very different purpose but still managing to drive forward and deliver on the theme.

Kudos for getting over 12 minutes of audio done in the 48 hour period. Mixing and production is pretty tight on all of these tracks and the variety of sounds and genres here is pretty incredible. Great work!

Having a bunch of styles to represent the freedom to make whatever is actually a more interesting take on the theme than some other things!

I also liked that they were mostly high energy which made it more fun to listen to!

Love how charming and whacky this project manages to be. How you made this in the space of 2 days is beyond me but now I'm inspired af

i love the goofy instrumentation and the sort of trippy drum rhythms.  there's just all sorts of interesting sounds on this soundtrack and it's super impressive that you pulled off something with this degree of ambition in 2 days!

Hah! I love how you used the lyre track.

This stuff is fricking awesome. When you reached out to ask if you could use the lyre track, I was super curious to see what you'd do with it. I'm super pleased to hear it distorted, because to me, that instrument is actually something that had the spirit that metal music became before there was metal.

Great job dude, I was blown away by this.

Reallllly nice work! I think everything worked together incredibly well thematically!

My honest reaction
You got me out here with a pen and paper taking notes on these breaks and percussive mixing. Every single one of these is a certified banger and 12 minutes of quality this consistently high is unreal. You aren't real. How.

Pumping out 12 minutes in 2 days is insane. 11 tracks?! This is insanely eclectic, there are like 10 different genres in this 12 min soundtrack.

Plastic cafe is a banger.

I enjoyed the drum and bass in "BATTLE AT THE THEATRON".

I'm literally bobbing my head at "WEAVE ACROSS THE DANCE FLOOR" (love the slight distortion).

The last track shocked me, it transitions from breakcore to techno? The slicing is awesome.

Love the experimental drums. All this in just 2 days? Definitely a highlight, the best so far.

WOW. BRO. THAT'S. CRAZY.

SETTING is Great. A GREAT START!

REAL WORLD - Slightly clicking broken drums, arpeggios and pleasant bass, which sometimes turns into brutal bass - that's what I need!

PLASTIC CAVE - I wanted to make coffee with this music...

RELEASE, ATTACK - The beginning of this track reminded me of C&C... I'm also a big fan of panning synthesizers! Cool! So is this transition to drums, melody, and bass, which is now in both ears... A masterpiece!

BATTLE AT THE THEATRON - Juhu! Breakbeat, theatrical symphony, powerful percussion and, of course, BASS.

ACT RIGHT NOW is an incredible Soniv vibe. (WAF)

DASTARDLY ENTITY - Arabs... THE ARABS! stop... BRUTAL ARABS! AAAAAAAAA!!!

WEAVE ACROSS THE DANCE FLOOR - I do not even know what to do to this music - dance, stare at the wall or fly to Mars?

CRUNCH TIME - The title of this track (as well as the track itself) describes my state of mind during this jam (I made about the same sounds when I realized that I would have to reduce my publication with my ears blocked)

UNKNOWN is this... The abyss? She sings...

MANIC MALFUNCTION - OH YEAH! IT'S TIME FOR THE MAIN TRACK! And I can hear the circus... cool!!!

You've done an incredible amount of work: you've made 12 minutes of the most beautiful and well-sounding music in just two days... The Master!

P.S. Rawr
