48 hours is of course never enough time for anyone HAHA you did great regardless! i enjoy thinking about what tracks would go in between if we were able to expand and fully flesh out our projects

as much as i might want the soundtrack names to be clear as to what they indicate, i also really like track names that seem to mesh with the worldbuilding itself. i know *Splatoon* has a field day with that concept for sure HAHA
thank you for enjoying!! also i can assure you that the circles in the cover art are red (or at least red-orange) since i drew it :^)
OUGH... how dare you mention Ace Attorney and Ghost Trick, two series that i love... I LOVE Ghost Trick ESPECIALLY!!! i'm waaay overdue for a replay, which i've been meaning to do since it got ported to Switch/PC. i'm glad those two tracks were enjoyable!! i'm trying to get better at writing groovy/funky tunes that are more mellow in nature. :^D
hehehe The Lick hehehe
thank you for enjoying and for the kind words!! i appreciate it lots ^^
thank you for listening and enjoying!! i always defer to trying to make really groovy and upbeat stuff, particularly after having grown up with a lot of side-scrollers with good music.
there was some more that i would've loved to elaborate on musically for this direction i took in my work process, but i'm glad i was able to get a conceptual demo of it done at least! ^^
thank you!! i decided to take a listen to some of the Neptunia series music to get an idea... wow, i DO see what you mean HAHA i wouldn't be surprised if those tracks work as musical inspiration material for me at some point. :3c
thank you for feedback also!! "District of Bells" being one of my later worked-on tracks is a shame since i couldn't polish it as effectively as the other ones. but i'm glad to have everyone's feedback to pinpoint what it was that was annoying me about the track(s) sdklgjskdlg HAHA
yeahhh we love going for that Bob Ross style of creating!
hmmm... for "Battle", there's a lot of different directions that i think could be taken? more aggressive drums either in the played rhythms OR the selected drum samples? there's also heavy distortion/clipping on the drums BUT idk how that will sound HAHA
ooo maybe a drum solo so the drums can go wild LOL
hello. this is the last submission for this jam that i have rated. THIS IS REALLY GOOD. i've said this a couple of times elsewhere but i LOOOVE the Everhood vibes i get from how diverse and distinct the tracks are in your soundtrack. you having lots of tracks in your submission is amazing and helps me really feel comfortable saying this for yours as well. thank you providing a follow-along story as i listen through! i really like that a lot of the tracks transition to one another, which does however reframe the soundtrack as more of a storytelling device itself instead of distinct track loops for actual videogame usage.
"BATTLE AT THE THEATRON" and "ACT RIGHT NOW" were my favorite overall!! the theatrical sound of the battle theme keeps up a good energy level throughout. altogether, this soundtrack was amazing and really took me on a journey in your story (which. i hope said story doesn't come to life around me because that's gonna start feeling like inception) — the ideas and production are spot on!! some small adjustments to some track mixes would be all that's needed.
oh, now this is a GRAND chiptune track right here... it perfectly encapsulates the vibe of an epic final boss fight with so much on the line... i imagine a fight between Valrik's group and the mighty Skyshard, but in a way that involves the party trying to reason and calm down the dragon despite its destructive descent...
those panning arps throughout which really make for good chiptune, the intense introduction to bring us into the track, and the evolving arrangement are great. awesome work!! i wish there wasn't just one track given how high quality this was.
aye, the medieval vibes are strong with this one... nicely done!! i really love how grand and splendorous "Final Victory" is! i think even though the tracks seem rather distinct in genre and style, we only had 48 hours after all to try and quickly compose something for the jam.
i'd love to hear some other tracks from this videogame concept if you continue working on it after the jam! ^o^
"drowning in light" is a strong start before we dive really deep into the shadows in this submission. i really like the more melodic atmosphere of "re-forget" to wrap up the otherwise gritty and dark atmosphere maintained by the middle of the soundtrack! the guitar melodies are also so enthralling... :3c
altogether, a nice and well-composed soundtrack!! i'm quite curious if you had a specific videogame genre in mind when you were working on these tracks?
the punk vibes of these two tracks really shine through!! i really like how "Protonpunk" right at the start seems to elaborate further on "State machine" while carrying its own weight with how it develops. :~)
i wish i could've heard a bit more of "Protonpunk" as i felt it ended too soon. i would've love to hear more glitching used on the distorted guitar as well, which is definitely more of a personal preference depending on how chaotic you'd want the piece to be!
this is so AWESOME — it's really cool to hear all these elements put together that you've recorded! the self-made lyre is so rad, too. that's some amazing dedication to the craft alright... :3c
the final result of this track is great! the individual parts are mixed well (though i'd want to hear the jaw harp even more imo), and the progression of the arrangement is well written. the vocal harmonies and layering are also well-done!
big fan of the starting chord progression, need to figure out what that is so i can try it out for my own songwriting in the near future HAHAHA ;~) i think it's because it uses a bit of Dorian in it......
anyway, love the way you mixed the vocals in this and varied your techniques! the guitar solo at the end is pretty rad, though i can't tell if the notes for the downward lines at 2:46 are a bit dissonant? in any case, awesome work! always great to listen to a song every so often in these submissions~
personally the guitar part in your track was great; you did quite well despite having only a day! it sits nicely in the mix and doesn't stir up any trouble, complementing everything else! it'd also be cool however to see it encroach further volume-wise if the track were to get more experimental.
in the end, i really like the subdued mood that you ended up with for your track. :~)
altogether a solid soundtrack! i was really fascinated by the gritty direction you went for "A Curious Creature"; it reminds me more of viewing the event from the perspective of the facility guards treating it as an emergency. meanwhile, "Break Out Duo" was an energetic track that really shifts the mood of what a player would know so far for your videogame concept. very nice! ^-^
you really nailed the mood of the unknown and infinite frontier with the final track, especially considering the setting of outer space.
yeah, i have to agree, that guitar is quite nice... i really like how subtle the guitar-strumming is, considering how prominent guitars would usually be in a piece. this track is really calming and nice; matches the track name quite well!! :~)
i really like how gently the arrangement transitions over time, it's a bit slow but it also doesn't detract by maintaining the overall mood that you've established from the start. nice work overall!
this was a LOVELY listen for me — i really wish there were more than two tracks to really hear what else you envisioned for your videogame concept. i particularly enjoyed your composition direction for "Inner Conflict" because you chose an interesting mood for what should be a battle theme. :0
the tracks really give that triumphant and courage-filled feel of pushing through one's inner fears and anxieties as a result; nice work!! sorry that you were only able to get stuff done a day in ;-;
nice work, especially considering you really crammed this track based on your submission description! ^^" i love the ideas that you've conceptualized for this track — i'm particularly intrigued by the detuned square-esque lead used starting at 0:52, for example. i'd love to see this further developed, perhaps with some additional mixing and effects to combine the orchestral and electronic elements more cohesively!
very nicely composed — though you're "new to the process", you're getting a good hang on chords and how harmonic content sets a particular mood! i really like the usage of Dorian in the progressions of the conclusion starting at 1:26! :D
since the chords also serve as the main melodies though, it'd be cool to see you fiddle around with making longer progressions that expand past the 4-chord one you've picked as a start!
i think what really ties everything together is the usage of piano arpeggiations through each track; there's a sense of cohesion that results from using said technique consistently. i was very satisfied with how "Confessions" turned out; i was looking more for something of a mysterious/darker side, like the characters in said visual novel confessing about the internal troubles they have which is why they'd hang out at school still. :~)
very good work overall! i wonder, as much as i enjoy the piano arps, if it'd be nice for them to sit back a bit more in the mix for "After hours"; i do appreciate that they give lots of space for the strings to dominate, however!
i'm really fascinated with how you chose to approach composing your tracks musically; they're all very cohesive and yet they manage to stand out from one another with subtle changes in melodic content. ^^ my favorite may be "Death"; i think it's because of lighthearted it sounds despite the track name, which is likely due to the triad of tracks using similar pitch limitations.
i think it'd be cool see how you'd craft distinct lead melodies that try to expand as much as they can within the notes allowed, to properly express the ideas you had in mind!
i think it's been a while since i've seen some 2D pixel art survival horror games, specifically i'm imagining the ones with low pixel resolution with the soundtrack that you've composed. overall, amazing work, and nice job getting so many tracks crafted to sketch out the plot of your videogame concept!! ^-^
it wasn't until "Malformation" that i really started sensing the grave danger that would be present in the game. the more minimal vibes remind me more of a stealth section, specifically, like you have to avoid the monstrous entity no matter what. other than that, the gritty, melancholy vibes are carried throughout the tracks — even "Freedom" has a tinge of sadness to it despite it being the resolution of the story. very well composed!
your composition is quite a slow burn — a slow and steady tempo that has some really highlighted sections thanks to the repeated presence of the "verses", so to speak. i really like how at 3:37, we have a brief bridge that carries us out of the oppressive surroundings even if just for a moment. nice work! the sorrowful and emotional arrangement really works well despite how long it is. ^^
at 1:36 when the wind instruments dominate for a brief moment is my favorite part of the track. i also enjoy the reiteration of one of the main motifs throughout the piece but on varying instruments; the mood subtly shifts throughout the piece which is great. overall, the orchestral piece you made for this jam is awesome!
i can really imagine a cutscene going along with this piece... perhaps bringing some out of deep sleep for millennia with ancient magic, setting them free as they come to terms with them existing in an entirely unfamiliar world to them...
man, i would've loved to see how much further you could've developed "Sir Crow" (of course, you can always keep working on it AFTER the jam......); i really enjoy the usage of harpsichord and guitar for a clashing set of instrumentation that makes for a fascinating vibe. i think the track stands out from what "Outside" sounds like, BUT it adds an overall sense of whimsy and lightheartedness to your videogame concept which could work if you choose to run with it! >:3
i'm glad someone else mentioned Look Outside because that game achieves an oppressive atmosphere while still carrying hopefulness and other positive themes. ^^
oh, i was very pleasantly suprised with "At Least"; i feel like the piano runs especially make me imagine a fast-paced platforming/parkour game (which i am...very Not Good at playing)! c:
very well crafted overall — the motifs that are carried throughout each track really keep things cohesive also despite the distinct changes in energy as you switch between the three tracks. the instrumentation conceptually is great! i feel more immersed in a retro videogame atmosphere with the way you designed the piano and strings and whatnot.
i really enjoyed how the middle portion of the track carried so much momentum; the choice of instrumentation is spot on for your videogame concept and what inspired you! the section starting at 1:43 particularly captivated me. :D
the introductory and ending passages of the overall track were nice! the introduction in particular reminds me a lot of how Super Mario games would have introductory fanfares for their levels (which A Hat in Time also does). nicely composed and arranged, overall!!
i really enjoyed "Après Midi D'un Crabe", i am imagining a smol crab out on a post-lunch walk down the street. :~)
in all seriousness, nice work!! these are very nice for underwater themes that i feel i don't hear much of in regards to instrumentation and production style (which may be because i'm used to retro videogames and their soundchip restrictions). i feel like i can also imagine these working quite well in nature documentaries, actually!
woah, i love the minimal gritty vibes from the first half of the track especially; i really feel like i just got dropped a few strata down in an underground brick dungeon. i haven't played a dungeon-crawler in a while... :3c
the overall track is enchantingly calm, i think it really adds to the charm of having to think over your next move in a videogame while feeling the suspense and tension of encountering a threat in the dungeons!
your combination of classical instrumentation with more hard-hitting electronic sounds works well to convey the dystopian nature of what you envisioned for your track; i think i really get the feel of "freedom" thanks to the piano being the main melody that drives the piece! ^_^
i like that at 0:51 the synthetic pads and heavy percussion mostly drop away to give the piano more room to breathe. i'd love to hear how you'd experiment in continuing this arrangement and adding even more sections to break up the energy!
also, gl on finishing your move! hope you can get your hands back on a MIDI keyboard soon and keep making bangers ^^
i love how in-depth you were with the description for your soundtrack's concept; overall, i feel immersed in the world of Middle-Earth as i listen to your tracks... which is really funny because only in the past two weeks have i finally watched 2/3 of the Lord of the Rings movie trilogy for the first time LOL ^^
"Prologue - Annael Recounts to Tuor the Long Peace" really fit the bill for me since i had just watched those movies. i can imagine cinematic cutscenes describing some past history that occurred, giving me some context before current day. nice work!!
ough, i really love the incorporation of vocals and the unique melodies and motifs throughout the arrangement... i'm always kept on my toes as i continue listening because there's something new to ponder over as the track continues. :0
the concept you came up with for your videogame is FASCINATING also, and i think your single track works quite cohesively with it! it makes me think about Balatro's background music keeps you in a sort of trance, as you continue playing and thinking over the plays you make in the game. so likewise, this track evokes in me a similar feeling as i imagine myself playing a world-managing simulator and figuring out what the best options would be... or choosing every option possible as i try to get every game achievement LOL
...based on your SoundCloud track descriptions, I HOPE YOU ARE RESTING UP!! these are LOVELY to listen to — you command the energy with the volume dynamics so well and incorporate a good amount of velocity variety for the two instruments in your tracks to keep things interesting! ^-^ awesome work!
it's hard for me to pick out a favorite between the two... but at 2:54 in "Flower" my brain noticed a bit of modal mixture (?) and went brrr. so.
