Description
UNWWWELCOME is a short adventure game inspired by ENA and early internet in general. ESEL just got banned on his favorite forum for trolling FOREVER. But he just can't wait that long, so it's up to him to find a way to get unbanned! Do whatever it takes, Esel.

For each track there is a description defining what the OST is for.

Message from the artist
huge thanks to frozzy for coming along and helping me with this submission!!!! pls check him out hes like. awesome. not only did he make le epic chase track but he also he helped me with Esel's design which i was rlly struggling with

Theme

Freedom

How does it fit the theme?
the main character is banned and needs to figure out a way to silently unban himself! The ban is represented with a prison of sorts, and our main character Esel has to escape it

as for the way these songs are composed, I decided to give myself some freedom in terms of instruments and sound effects which works pretty well i think idk dude please tell me this is good enough last time i participated we got #486 out of 600-something on correlation to the theme 🥀🥀

Finally got to this submission, the one I wanted to get to the most!

From the get-go, just the aesthetic of this submission is divine - so creative and quirky (which is very fitting for the story and music), and the art itself is super endearing! The tracks titles, the way the project and submission pages are designed - it's all so awesome! The story here is also really cool, and all of these aspects come together to create the most enticing thing i've seen in a while!

Now for the music itself,

ur only welcome HERE : Awesome beat, and sets up the vibe for the entire OST. I'm gonna mention it more, but the sound design is incredible - the instruments are produced perfectly, and the added sound effects are fantastic! The build here is awesome, and it all reminds a lot of Toby Fox's music (which I personally ADORE). Very quirky, very fitting.

slow 'n steady... : Love that baseline! Using Harpsichord is also a surefire way to make me LOVE a track. This one definitely gives off major sneaky vibes. I also really like the break in the middle, and the sound design is still fantastic!

...DOES NOT WIN THE RACE. YOU BETTA RUN! : Hell yeah! This one is super energizing, and serves its purpose very well! I really like the super chromatic melody, and the dynamic builds and changes are great (on all three tracks)! And of course. the sound design here is so perfect! The ringing (which was also on previous tracks), the train-station-y announcement in the middle, the crash in the end - perfect!

I wish I could write more, but I really have to go, so I'll just say this is a fantastic submission, and I wish ya'll the best of luck!!

Absolutely love the story idea here. It's really unique and plays really well with the overall style and vibe of your music. There is this sort of crunchiness of the chiptune sounds and the art visuals that fit perfectly together.

"ur only welcome here" starts things off with a straight-up bop. Sets the tone nicely for the rest of the OST, and stays interesting throughout, which is doubly impressive considering it's pretty much the exact same drumbeat for the entire song. Other little variations sublt and otherwise, like the little key change towards the end, really helps keep the track fresh for the whole runtime.

"slow n' steady..." gets right into it with a groovy bassline, and I immediately imagined Seinfeld a SNES platformer with your little jester lookin' dude sneaking around. You did a really nice job here with the various musical elements and sounds  entering and leaving the song at different times, again keeping things from ever getting remotely stale.

"...DOES NOT WIN THE RACE. YOU BETTA RUN!" is a banger and somehow manages to bring even more variety into this already rather dynamic soundtrack while still keeping things incredibly cohesive. The guitar is a nice touch, and -- you just HAD to put in the windows error sound ahaha

ur only welcome here has some really nice ear-candy throughout. There are such poignant oldschool roots in this, it is hard not to groove along with it. From the occasional scratching to the use of organic samples such as the telephone ringing - these are all just the perfect spices to sprinkle on top of an already strong piece. Melodies are interesting and the bass and percussion fit really well together; playing to one another's strengths.

slow n' steady... keeps playing to what it does well; great  bass voicing and some more scratching to spice things up. The percussion here has a kind of lazy amble to it, which I love. The bass continually descending only emphasizes this all the more, and leaves so much room to play around with melodies on top. Speaking of - those melodies and held wavering chords are fantastic.

...DOES NOT WIN THE RACE. YOU BETTA RUN! is a great track to round things out with; some new samples joining the fray and a chaotic kind of rush with those xylo(?) arpeggios. This track reminds me of so many different things at once that it is hard to even nail down what to talk about. Main melody here is super catchy and really drives that anticipatory rush vibe all the more. Finishing this off with some modulation on tempo and pitch was really clever.

The thematic execution here is genuinely phenomenal. The art, the chosen sound palate and the overall vibe all locks into itself so perfectly to the point where I feel like I am listening to an actual game's OST. Fantastic work.

I like the general vibe which is almost electro swing in some aspects. Pretty bouncy and dancy, quite freedomish I'd say, good job !

Wow this is awesome!! The kind of soundtrack you listen to even after you finished the game. I love it.

AMAZING WORK

loved the overall music style, it sounds really unapologetically groovy.

and the aesthetic you guys chose for this was AMAZING :3
Also ESEL is my new comfort character.

the first track right off the bat really showcases the inspirations that you two worked with to develop your soundtrack! i love the usage of "unconventional" sounds and foley that add a sense of quirk and whimsy — i think the Mario & Luigi series of games employs that quite well, for example.

for a game to have a soundtrack like this, i'm sure it'd be completely up my alley as someone who loves weirdcore!! >:3 y'all've done amazingly making a cohesive sound that helps me visualize everything... i hope ESEL can figure out a way to get unbanned soon.

also i want to eat the cover art nom nom nom

Once again its straight fire all the way through!

The chase theme reminded me the most of BossBeat which made it my favorite but I also just prefer those fast paced fun songs anyways so it was inevitable that I would like it!

I did think that sometimes the songs could be just a touch long in the middle. The rhythms are very fun as is the bassline, but at some point, it feels like they overstay their welcome when there isn't a break of some kind.

They are still bangers though, nothing can take that away! The chase theme has the most variance which also contributes to it being my favorite.

The samples of phone noises are a great touch and the vocal part in the chase them adds so much to the atmosphere!

This is in my top 5 favorite if not top 3 entries of the Jam so far and I don't have much left to rate so I think it's a pretty safe bet you'll stay there.

SO much personality in each of these tracks, absolutely amazing. Really gotta hand it to those unique sample choices that give it so much funk and character, and they way they're all mixed so seamlessly is super impressive. Can't even pick a favorite since they're all so good :)

Very fun and whimsical. Good job!

Love the chords and the overall atmosphere on "slow n steady", that is a banger. I also enjoyed listening the last track. Overall funky, quirky and just fun, also error sound at the end pretty cool.

i love the quirky instrumentation and melodies, it feels like one of those hit indie postmodern rpgs with a touch of warioware.  i remember really loving you guys' entry from comp jam 7 and i'm glad to see you brought a lot of that funky energy back for this submission.  really good work!

I think your last track would be my personal pick, though overall the EP is solid!

Nice vibes! Almost feels like if Undertale was a modern game. Great work!

What i find engaging about this jam series is that you have people from all walks of life coming together to show off their skills and creativity. There have been a couple of people who've never done music before submitting here, and then we have professional entries like this, even with great visuals. Excellent work.
