I played the demo, and it's fantastic! Great job!

Thank you! And after listening to some of his stuff, i have to say that i might've been thinking about his work on Castle Crashers lol.

Cool! I like the atmosphere, the production is pretty good, and i like how you don't keep it too repetitive, and let the music develop throughout.

Nice job!

Very nice! I like the casual approach to the game - it doesn't always have to be some giant super dramatic video game, it can be just a nice mobile game yo pass the time.

I really like the first track! You captured an excellent atmosphere, and the production helps elevate it to greatness.

The second track is pretty cute, and delivers of that tutorial feeling - the kind of random percussion, the minimal production and the broken up melody.

The last track is nice. I like the minimal instrumentation on it, and the melody is pretty catchy. Harmonically, it feels like it's not staying in one place, but it's also not taking massive leaps either, which feels pretty smooth.

Overall, very nice!

Fantastic! I'm usually really not a chiptune guy, but i love this!

First of all, the production is great! While most people tend to do chiptune in a very bare form, to stay "authentic", but you put the chiptunes at the front, and then create a whole world of modern production around it. To me it's very reminiscent of Celeste and Toby Fox. Great stuff.

The actual composition is awesome too! I like how you take your knowledge of musical theory and use it to boost the narrative of music's purpose - in time signatures, tempos and harmpnically. On top of that, your use of leitmotifs is fantastic, and really helps to "strengthen the bond" between the tracks, which reminds of the works of Toby Fox.

Overall, your ideas were very original and you executed them well, and the entire package (including the story and the visuals) seems to be an indie platformer begging to be made. Great job!

Cool! I like how all of the tracks are based on one melody, that just gets played in different contexts.

I also really like your piano work - super smooth and serene. Very nice!

One thing i have to say is that this reversed ticking you used is mixed in a very weird way, and is kind of annoying. Doubling it and panning them to left and right could help make them not feel to in your face, and also lowering the volume a little too, obviously.

Overall - pretty good!

Thank you so much! I really like that sky theme, so i really wanted to at least kind of get the essence of it in my track, and i'm pretty happy with the result :)

Ooh i liked this! A very nice electronic track!

I like how every section feels very different, but still connected to the other sections, and how all of the sections flow into one another so well.

I also really like that main melody - not sad but not happy, but very cute and nostalgic (the instrumentation helps a lot in those regards).

The story you gave here is translated very well into the music, and i could really feel the kind of excitement curve here - starts kinda grandly, mellows a bit and then quickly rises for a big released section, which is a big part of the track, and then has a very nice and quiet outro. Makes for a great interest curve.

Good job!

Very nice! An honestly good electronic soundtrack with good production and good composition.

It's very impressive how much you got done here - almost 40 minutes of music for a game jam! That's amazing, but i feel like it's also this submissions downfall. If this was for an actual game, there would be no problem, but because this is for a game jam, where every person who wants to rate this is asked to listen to the entire soundtrack, the runtime becomes a problem. It was very hard for me to try to pay attention to all of the music without starting to drift away, since every track is so long and doesn't change too much (i mean, there are different sections, but all of them are very long, and the difference between them seems to be adding or removing a few layers), everything starts to blend together in my memory.

But still, i could definitely tell that there's some pretty good composition, pretty great production, and just a talented artist here, so good job! Maybe just create a little less music next time 😅

Awesome! The track bops like a bop, everything sounds great both production and composition-wise, and this is just straight-up fun!

I like how you kinda have like 3 separate pieces here, that you connected together. It feels like we're moving in different phases of the level or something, and it keeps the entire thing interesting!

Very cool!

First of all - i love the idea! It's super unique, and i haven't heard anything quite like it so far in the jam.

I also really liked the production. It's overall pretty smooth, and i liked most of the sounds you used. The only problems i had with the production were the trumpet sound you used (as a trumpet player, i'm super picky about how midi trumpets sound, so i don't really blame you), and that sometimes the production kind of fights itself ; around the end when all of the instruments are super loud, it's hard to understand what i'm supposed to listen to, 'cause it feels like there are so many parts, and the part that i thought was the most important is wayyy in the back of the mix.

But again, overall i did actually like the production, but just these hiccups brought it down a bit.

Nice work, and i would love to hear the version with vocals some day :)

This is really cute! I like your instrument choices, and i like your melodies too.

It's nice how the track develops throughout in many different ways.

I also like how the music feels a bit off rhythm. It gives it a kind of free time feel that i like.

Overall, good job! I liked it a lot :)

I like how the music develops throughout the entire track, even when prats repeat themselves, it helps to make the entire thing interesting, and puts it in a much more prominent place than just background music for a level - it's a piece of music that accompanies a level, but stands on it's own and makes sure your'e paying attention to it.

Two tiny complaints i have - one is that the tick tock (i'm not sure if it's a snare or a sample of a clock, but you know what i'm talking about) is bit too loud. I got used to it, but i think you could've made it 0.5-1 dBs quieter and it would've been still prominent but not overpowering.

The other complaint is just that i think this track could've used one part that's bit more lively and busy. I know that the entire track is pretty "sadder" and mellow, but if you did something like what you did at 1:44, where you stacked different existing parts along with some new ones, again, would've helped with keeping the attention of the listener by developing in more ways than just harmonically and melodically.

Both of my complaints aren't really that big (even though i wrote a lot lol), and i honestly liked this submission a bunch. Overall, this is pretty nice, so good job!

Cool! I like how you let the track become dissonant when it needs to. It helps to make the atmosphere really tense.

I also like the way you build up the intensity throughout the track, and get to the ending that isn't intense, but is VERY tense. It completely delivers on the feeling of almost shitting your pants out of fear lol.

Nice submission!

Awesome! The story you wrote here is very cute and pretty original, and the soundtrack goes very well with it.

I really like how with the more intense tracks, you never let the listener get too comfortable, by creating a loop that stays mostly the same but with changes every time - maybe with a drum break, maybe with more or less instruments, but it's never exactly the same. It really helps to keep you guessing, and help maintain the atmosphere.

With the calmer tracks, you still change things up, but in way nicer way - you develop the music based on what came before in a very nice way. It makes sure that the music doesn't repeat too much, and keeps it interesting.

I also wanted to say that i love your melodies! They're all great and pretty memorable - i could sort of repeat to you what i heard after only one time, which is mighty impressive.

The only thing that brought this down for me was the production - it felt a bit too muddy, and it kind of bugged when the music is fading out, but the tick-tock seems to be only barley fading. Overall the production is pretty good actually, but those hiccups kept it from greatness (to me at least). (Btw, i'm not claiming to be some expert producer, but i just liked so many things about this submission, that i had to say what brought it down for me)

Overall, really good! I can't wait to hear more of your stuff :)

I think you got a lot out of something very limited, which is very impressive.

I noticed that your tracks move a lot more harmonically then other loop based tracks, which is a very good way to make sure the entire doesn't run itself out.

Overall, pretty nice considering the limited workstation.

Awesome! The production is fantastic, and the story is very dramatic, which i feel like the music expresses very well. This sounds like it could be the soundtrack for a play.

You can very easily hear the Romantic-era classical music influence, with it sometimes leaning a bit more Romantic, and sometimes leaning a bit more Cinematic.

Overall, pretty great!

Ohhh, that's actually a cool idea! Maybe i should try that sometime, since i tend to get lost in details too.

Thanks! It seems to be the favorite one of a lot of people lol.

I like the productivity of entering a game jam to make a soundtrack you were already going to make for something else, and it seems that the game you guys are making is going to be pretty cool.

Using the gameboy sounds for your music is pretty limiting, but it seems that you know your way around it and can make it sing very nicely.

My favorite tracks are the last three, with the Fire Temple being my absolute favorite - for some reason it sounds very march-like to me, but i can't quite put my finger on it, except for the kind of marching snare. idk but i like it.

I also wanted to say that the pixelart looks fantastic, so props to the one who's doing the art.

Overall, pretty nice submission, it's making me kinda interested in the actual game.

Wow, this sounds like part of the soundtrack of an indie game that i want to play. The production is fantastic and professional, the tracks are diverse and vary in vibe and feeling. The melodies are very nice and catchy, and the accompaniment both supports the melody yet stands very well on it's own.

I like how each level theme tells so much about the place : "Barrenbluff" sounds like the music that might be played in an inn in the town, "Shizukana's Summit" sounds like an ancient piece passed down from generation to generation about a legend of great importance, and "Neo Arcadia" depicts a picture of a dystopian future filled with incredibly advanced technology but no living beings... Or at least that's what i imagined.

Overall, this is absolutely fantastic, and i enjoyed it very much.

Fantastic! This project is extremely creative, with what seems like a lot of effort that was put into it, and was done very well.

The story of and behind the game is very cool and interesting, and shows attention to detail unlike any i think i've seen so far. The production is fantastic, and the tracks are just long enough to get the most of the musical ideas without becoming fatigued.

It's very interesting how you went with very upbeat (not bright though) music for a horror game, but with the production it makes the music feel supernatural and therefore fitting the story.

Very cool, and i liked it a bunch!

Thank you! Someone pointed out that the bass is very similar to the "hook" from Fantasia (Paul Dukas), which i didn't know until they did lol.

Thanks! The drum in that track is actually really inspired by the drum in Aquatic Base Level 1 from Sonic The Hedgehog (2006), because i love that track sooo much lol (mine isn't nearly as complex and energetic as the Sonic one, but it was still very much the reason i made that drum).

And i thought the clock in the O was super cute, so i'm glad you like it!

Thank you for the advice! I do find myself a lot of times falling into chord progressions that loop forever, so it's definitely something i should and do try to work on. With reforestation, i was really trying to go for a mysterious feeling melody, but it would be interesting to try to lean into that darker vibe more with other (new ofc) tracks.

I like how cohesive all the tracks are, and i think it's very nice how the oboe is the main instrument, because it's a very nice one.

It's also pretty cool how much you've messed with the timing, even though it's almost obvious to do considering the story, it's still a nice touch.

Overall, i liked it, and i find it very impressive that this was only made with Musecore and Audacity.

Really cool! The production is awesome : it hits hard, it's very well mixed, and it just sounds really good.

The Level and Boss themes groove hard, and the Title theme less grooves and more... vibes. It help energize the track without ruining the atmosphere.

I really like the hook you got here, and that you reuse it for the boss theme (with fitting changes ofc), but i wish you developed on it more : maybe in the level theme, you let the hook play twice, then develop on it, continue the melody, and then come back to it. It would make the track have a really nice structure without having to change harmony or beat or anything else. With the boss track i'm actually pretty ok with the hook staying undeveloped, because it helps adds to the tensity of the track.

Overall, i liked this a lot, and i enjoyed grooving out very much.

Pretty cool! It's very daring to take additional challenges for one jam (using only an SNES sounds and the different time signatures for the stages, though you didn't get to fulfill the 2nd one to the fullest), but i'd say you did pretty well!

I like how you set down a groove and then develop on top of it before going to other places, because it gives a very nice structure to the tracks, and it makes the return to the groove oh so satisfying.

I'm personally not always very fond of the SNES quality of sound, but i think you took it and leaned into the sound and it's charm, and made it work pretty well.

Very nice!

Fantastic! You've created a soundtrack that's in service for the story, of which is already pretty good.

You write very orchestral pieces that ascend being simply cinematic, by being also very interesting on their own (while still being a great depiction of the story!).

I haven't really noticed anything muddy about the mixing, except maybe the end of  "Keeper of Causality", but the production is still absolutely fantastic and very lively.

(May i also say that i really like choir parts, especially if they're at this level)

Overall - more than great of a soundtrack, and a beautiful submission as whole.

Thank you so much! Yeah, in retrospect it might've been better if i polished Back In Town more than i did. Appreciate the advice!

Thank you very much for your compliments, and for your advice! It's all noted, and some of it was stuff i was thinking about, but ended up not doing. Very much appreciated!

Wow! Very cool submission! I really like the idea of playing a skateboarding-mailman game while hearing the mailman talking about hoe much he loves his job lol

The production is very good, and riffs and hooks are pretty catchy, and pretty enjoyable.

One gripe i have, is i think the first 3 tracks could've been one 3-4 minute song, because they are about pretty similar things, and are more similar to each other than to Alien mail.

Overall, very creative and just a fun submission. Good job!

Thanks!

Thank you! Time out was actually the 2nd track i made, right after march of a clock (which makes sense with the shared melody lol)

I like the way you approached the idea of a fusion between acoustic and electronic, and I enjoyed it when you leaned more into the electronic side.

My favorite tracks are "The Future Is 2001", where you really leaned into the electronic part, and "Purple Palace", where you stayed pretty electronic, but added some elements that are in between, like the whistle, which sounds very cool and very early PC gaming-like.

Pretty cool submission!

(1 edit)

The juxtaposition between the tracks is pretty cool, and i like how you went more electronic with the night theme, it makes it feel more unnatural and almost mystical...? Idk but i like it.

The production is pretty solid, and the day theme is pretty catchy.

I like it! Good job!

Pretty nice! I like the chord progression, and each of the tracks has it's own vibe while they're still all based on the same musical ideas.

One thing i want to say is that for the drum and bass version, the intro is too long in my opinion, i think you could've added another instrument in the middle of it - maybe the motif you added in all of the other intros?

Overall, pretty nice!

(1 edit)

Very atmospheric. The track is very intense, very mysterious, and indeed very creepy! The piano melody is very catchy (not pop song catchy, but leitmotif catchy, so you can base an entire soundtrack around it), and the way it tenses up even more at the middle, i think it could've happened at the end, for a big climax that get cut off, which would be very creepy imo.

I also wanted to say that there's no shame in using garageband - I used to think it was low level too, but it is a legitimate DAW, and you can create amazing things with it - check out the soundtrack for the game LittleBigPlanet, they say it was made using garageband, and it is downright fantastic.

Anyway, good job!

Very groovy! It's also kinda cool how you went for kind classical harmony for some of the harmony, it makes it seem like every harmonic change is massive and it's very nice. The production is pretty good, although there are a few tiny hiccups (like the alarm clock that is panned hard right and could've maybe used a little more work, because it was a little irritating), and overall this is a pretty enjoyable track!

Good job!

Your melodies are beautiful, and it's amazing how you can take a simple idea and make it into a leitmotif that becomes so emotional. The production is fantastic, with orchestral instruments that almost sound too real, and the story is very cute - very Disney/Pixar like, which really helps give the music even more emotional significance.

Absolutely fantastic!
