Description
This song is an alternative rock / emo-ish tune inspired by My Chemical Romance (I used Ghost Of You as a reference) and a bit by Dispirited Spirits. I envisioned it being used in a pirate JRPG about killing massive mythological sea creatures. This track would be the theme to an important boss fight late in the game. In the lyrics I wrote that ended up not making it, I had it sung from the POV of the boss, that I imagined as some sort of massive snake. I composed this track by starting off with the piano like sound you hear in the beginning and going from there. I used Ableton for most of the process and then used REAPER when it was time to mix and master.

Message from the artist:
Hope you like it! Overall I'm happy with it, I wish I could have gotten the vocals in on time! Maybe later :P

Theme:

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
The picture initially inspired me to create some empty, and kinda "void" like, which I think I managed to do in the beginning of the song. I then added intensity due to the fact that this would be a boss battle theme.

This track was a great ride! Started off with a really dreamy feel. Really liked the opening buildup going into around the 1-minute mark and subsequent breakdown and guitar solo, and then again building up in the final third to the end where it was really flying. I appreciated the judicious use of stereo and EQ; was nice to listen to on headphones as I had the impression there was always something new going on with the dynamics throughout. Also very cool mix of instruments -- well-timed drum fills and that "sparkly" xylophone or whatever that was was a nice touch. Also the introduction of the twangy guitar in the second half was an unexpected but welcome twist. There was something a bit discordant about the piano in the opening, but I'm not sure why -- maybe the color of instrument itself wasn't quite meshing with the others or the the notes were actually off-key -- pardon my ignorance, I'm still pretty new to music theory. It could've been intentional though, as a similar thing was happening with the twangy guitar later, but I felt like it worked better there. That's just a small thing, though. Overall, great work -- you put a lot of care into crafting this and it shows!

First of all - i love the idea! It's super unique, and i haven't heard anything quite like it so far in the jam.

I also really liked the production. It's overall pretty smooth, and i liked most of the sounds you used. The only problems i had with the production were the trumpet sound you used (as a trumpet player, i'm super picky about how midi trumpets sound, so i don't really blame you), and that sometimes the production kind of fights itself ; around the end when all of the instruments are super loud, it's hard to understand what i'm supposed to listen to, 'cause it feels like there are so many parts, and the part that i thought was the most important is wayyy in the back of the mix.

But again, overall i did actually like the production, but just these hiccups brought it down a bit.

Nice work, and i would love to hear the version with vocals some day :)

The alternative rock ballad style shines through right from the beginning. The organ gives a cool sound in the background that makes me think of sea monsters (probably because of Pirates of the Caribbean). The guitar adds an unsettling element which hypes up the energy of the battle theme. Would have loved to have heard your vocals as the sea serpent in this! Good job and thank you for sharing!

This is a really interesting track with some good instrumentation! As David mentioned there's a fair amount of dissonance and it's not clear if it's intentional or not. I think either cleaning that up or being more clearly intentional with it would go a long way, because there's a lot of good stuff going on.  Thanks for making and sharing.

This is a fun, upbeat track! Right away, I noticed that some of the piano notes clash directly with the atmospheric synth's notes-- be extra careful to avoid this kind of mishap. There are definitely several other points where this occurs, so perhaps this was an intentional effect? One of the guitars almost seem to be in a different key altogether. I do love the way the track's energy is constantly propelled forward, although there are lots of times where so many instruments are playing at once, the music is perhaps too busy. I'm really not sure if you wanted so much dissonance, but a large number of instruments have frequent, direct clashes of a half-tone with each other.

Still, nice work! This is a cool track.

Hi, I liked listening to your song. I'm a sucker for those punk octave guitar lines, but I might recommend putting the SoundCloud link on the project page. It could only be me that has a problem with it, as my one-celled brain clicked on the screen recording to listen to instead. I was very confused when it cut off halfway through the song and saw there was still a trumpet solo and banjo(awesome) solo left.

thank you good sir! I did goof but it's now on there!
