This game is crazy advanced for a jam game, what is going on! The idea of weekdays as levels feels absolutely on point.
I love the likable characters that actually pop out of the UI with their ears and heads. Such a nice touch!
I haven’t really understood the game yet, despite reading the tutorial twice - e.g. I tell “Montserrat” to fly, and point them to the nearest airplane, but they just sit there.
Edit: (ok, this has strategic zoom, which looks awesome, and after getting characters to other island, all the buildigs with the red pins are empty, and the characers just seem to sit in front of them …) I’ll keep trying.
Edit/2: Ok, I made a few deliveries. The gameplay for these felt very clicky, I think at least dropoff should be automatic. The origin warehouses for packages absolutely need hotkeys or at least some sort of visual distinction from the other buildings.
Edit/3: And that’s when I noticed the tabs at the top…
But those camera views of the moving characters and the zooming? This is some Grade-A Chris Sawyer sh*t, I am absolutely amazed.
I really loved it! ^^ Was fun to figure out your own kind of strategy of who to place where and what mode of transportation to use. Got a bit hectic in the later levels of course, but I think it adds to the experience of a true Amazon delivery driver, lol. XD
I'm also sooooo impressed (and also a little jealous ^^') of how polished the game is, despite you having worked on this alone. :o Loved the art, the characters, the lil icons and names for them, the world, the minimaps, the big map when you scroll out. This game is PACKED with features!
One thing I would have to critique tho is the music. While some people liked it, I unfortunately think it sounds a bit unfinished... which makes sense since you said it was the last thing you worked on. ^^' Also the characters kept getting stuck on buildings here and there. Especially in the city of East Island.
Other than that... man, you really made a gem here. <3
Cute game! It was a bit confusing at times where the packages were supposed to go, because I would send people out to fly to the islands assigned for the package, but when I go to return to them, the markers would sometimes disappear. I gave up at that point, but I was very close to $800. Is this a bug or was there potentially something missing? The packages werent late yet!
hard to say! i do think the most likely thing is that the packages were with a character who wasn't selected? the game tries to only show markers for packages that are contextually relevant, so if you have a pilot selected it will only show their packages -- but sometimes its not as helpful as its trying to be. also speaking for myself i have definitely accidentally handed the package to the wrong pilot quite a lot, and then got to the destination and be like "oh crap, you legit don't have anything for here" :D
i have seen at least one streamer hit a bug tho so who knows. the packages are not supposed to expire and still give you $10 even if you hand them in late
after the jam is over i intend to do a lil ux pass if i can and try make the game a bit more approachable.
I keep getting impressed by those submissions but like... How did you make that alone in 9 days?! Everything looks so polished, didn't get any bug. It's not MY type of game sadly, I've made it just to the first second level, but omg the art is good, the gameplay works well, the game is so smooth, and I'm not only talking about the animations, the UI and stuff, I didn't feel like it was a game jam game honnestly. Really impressed. If I want to dig for some problems I found, I would say the tutorial being just text and no visual for a game that gets easly visualy overwhelming may lead some players not to take the plunge.
Big GG, will remember that!
For the life of me, I couldn't figure out what to do at the beginning.
I see the options to 'Fly' and do other things besides Walking, and I tried leading the units to Airplanes to Fly, but I couldn't get it.
I struggle a lot with Sim-type games where units need to be micromanaged, so admittedly this genre is a tough one for me to appreciate, but I do think you did amazing as one person working on this project for 9 days :3
So despite my personal feelings for this genre, I have to give credit where credit is due! You did a great job :3
I may need to give this game another try.
The only advice I can give is to maybe grey out options that are not currently available, so peeps don't keep clicking them in the hopes that something happens, but they know the options exist to utilize later.
hey there! i fully admit that the game is initially a lil hard to grasp, it's not on you! i just didn't have time to do the tutorialisation that i wanted to.
to get characters to fly, pick the character, select Fly and then click on another island on the spot where you want them to go. they'll head to the nearest plane, fly to that island, and then walk to the spot you clicked. it's the same with the trains. basically just target where you ultimately want characters to go and they will use whatever plane or train they can reach to get there.
i would like to make it clearer how to play but it doesn't feel fair to mess with the game during the jam, so i will hold off on tweaks and improvements until after voting is over. (also i need a break lol)
This is hectic but fun.
A downloadable version would be grat, thou.
This game is very good! It's a bit frantic at first, but it's nice when you get the hang of it. (I had a noticeable tendency to verbally say what I was commanding each staff member to do, lol) The art is amazing and so is the music.
If you're looking to continue working on this, it would be nicer if the deliverers automatically gave the boxes once they reach their destinations. Also, perhaps there could be a route system so you could assign a person multiple spots to go to. And it would be better if the train on the bottom left island connected to the right island so it would be more useful.
Overall, really polished game! Great job!
It's unbelievable that this gem was made by one person in nine days, because it's so polished that it felt like a full project. Like, if you told us this was actually a legit game that was available on the lego websit in the past (back when browser games in flash were a huge trend), we'd believe you! The gameplay is well thought out, engaging but not too stressful, and with many ways to tackle the deliveries - each one of us employed a different strategy! The artstyle was really cute too, and the music complimented it all nicely.
All in all, an amazing game made even more impressive by the fact it's a solo dev.
This is so cute and pleasant to play! :D
I got hooked by this one :O
I never thought I would enjoy management games this much hah
This one is phenomenal. I find it hard to believe it was made in 9 days hahaha, this is so well made and polished. Fun mechanics with good risk and reward, charming pixel art, good music. It's my favorite one so far. I see potential in getting expanded on.
What a great looking game. I'll have to take time to work it out as it's certainly involved.
