Awesome game! Great execution! If I was to nit pick on the game it would be the amount of reading required, both for the tutorial and in the journal (maybe some icons may help), but that's just me. Otherwise the rest of the experience was amazing. Congrats and good luck!
yes I definitely agree about the reading part in the tutorial. My initial plan was to have an interactive tutorial with pop ups and stuff but I decided against it due to time constraints
and the idea of having icons is really good too, never even considered it. Thanks for the feedback
This was a great idea! Very phasmophobia-like and I enjoyed this take on it. The "speedrunner" in me came out and started trying to optimize and work as fast as possible. Great game!!
Great phasmophobia-like game! With the challenge grows it soon feels really difficult. I have to read the new spirit's mechanisms real quick so not having enough time. Nice work. Vibes and graphics are delicate.
i am in LOVE with this game! i think this is the highest rating in my two game jam experiences so far!
i love all things paranormal, so this game was already right up my alley but i especially love the deduction aspect of your game. i don't like to be scared, which bars me from enjoying most paranormal games but i love that this one wasn't too scary; instead, it was cool to study + unlock the different spirits & figure out which you were dealing with so you can use the correct tools to release it, which i love!
my only suggestion would be to add a pause button (or maybe i didn't find it?) for any real life interruptions, haha. even then, i completely didn't mind because that meant i got to replay the game a bit more in order to catch up! i really love your game.
the tutorial really helped, too! my nature is to usually skip them, so i really appreciate that yours was optional but recommended! if you're planning on doing more with this game after the jam, i humbly ask to join your team because i'm just that in love with your game LOL! great job, y'all! ♡
It's a fun little expirience some sugestions tho would be for instance to maybe make the ship automaticly call after a spirit is killed or at least have like a little pop up over the ship because I forgot that I need to click that too. I'm also not sure if it matters if you go over the qouta cause If it doesn't have anything for that why not just end the timer there. But overall the game was fun even with a little lengthy tutorial for a game jam game.
ah yeah i was considering making extra quota pass on to the next day. however after playtesting it was decided that it wasnt a great idea due to balancing and thats why you have the option of ending early instead of ending once the quota is reached.
you can also use the extra time to memorise the journal (which is what some of my play testers did). i appreciate the feedback tho. thanks for playing
Can't rate since I didn't submit it time, but overall the game is very good ambience is good not to repetitive or annoying. The controls are simple and the tutorial explains the game fairly well. Although I will admit my first time I didn't realize that I had to hit the exorcise button after following the directions, and did not notice the time limit so I would recommend adding that to the tutorial notes. Artstyle is nice with enough detail that you can tell what everything is without it being messy. UI could use a little work as it is very cluttered maybe a bigger shelf area or smaller items?
If I could I'd give it a 9/10 but I can't. -1 point for the aforementioned things.
Would also recommend a settings menu for accessibility and sound options but that's a minor thing.
Very well paced, polished game.
Amazing tutorial, the art, sounds, and mechanic blend really well together, amazing work.
What a gem you made! Neat concept, cool art, well polished, good learning curve, great tutorial. Can't think of a thing I'd do differently really, except maybe flesh out the story (which is understandably out of scope for the jam). Great job!
Really fun, Im not entirley sure on how to shake the compass but I found a strat that takes less than 15 seconds so I got 21 enemies on the first day, I did quit on day 2 because there were no new pages unlocked at day 2 and It gets pretty repettitive, I probaply didnt play it like intended tho. It would be cool if you could put stuff back so the desk isnt as crammed. It did lack just a little bit on the innovation/theme part. But the art style is super cute and the sfx are great. And most importantly it was fun. 8.3/10
1. youre meant to pick it up and shake it with your mouse
2. you can end days early when you've hit quota so you don't have to do 21 on day one lol
3. as more pages are introduced the game (hopefully) has been balanced so your strategy has to keep on switching up every single day
4. theres a new enemy everyday from day 3 onwards
5. clicking the icons on the right allows you to remove them from your desk. ive heard this one a lot lol. i should have made it clearer
thanks for playing anyways
This is super cool. Its like a kid-friendly phasmaphobia! I love it. Im gonna make my kids play when they get home. haha. Favoriting it. I think this should be a game that gets launched on main stream - I think itd be a bit popular.
wow you're letting your kids play this? im honoured
Adorable little phasmophobia-type game. All the assets were well made and I loved the style! Wish there was a little more fanfare at the end considering I just finished 1v1ing like 3 krakens and everything straight out of a couple h.p. lovecraft novels, but that's a minor thing.
Well done!
did you not appreciate my win screen that i most definitely (did not) put a ton of effort into :(
Nay sire, I'd never dare to insinuate that a blank blue screen with the text "you win" is anything below a masterpiece.
Looks really cool! Loved the design and the gameplay!
this is such a cute game. i love how it makes ghost hunting cozy!! the graphics and the sounds were so nice!!
Real fun, love games like Phasmophobia and I love the difficulty rise, one of the most fun games ive seen in the jam so far no joke
Really liked this, kinda gave vibes of Papers Please. The UI is great, maybe a little cluttered, but otherwise great game
I never played the games you were inspired by but I was able to figure it out without the tutorial somehow and won the game. Very interesting game and mechanic, really well done and nice atmosphere with the polished visuals and nice sound effects. Really nice job on this one!
To improve it, some things like dragging the compass to the ship, and clicking the holy water, seemed not to respond very easily to clicks and needed to be done multiple times after delays or in certain way for it to work,. Even when it was done only once in a long time it would still not respond until doing it multiple times or in some particular way. Putting all other items away and trying again also did not help at all so it was easier for me to leave them all out. Other than that I think it's a really cool game!
haha you skipped the tutorial??? so the compass and holy water both activate by shaking shaking shaking them. i guess if you kept dragging them to the ship it would register as shaking but thats definitely not the intended way to do it
Well polished game I love it, I dont play paper please and phasmophobia but this is amazing combination, the bgm make it more scary and feels like something lurking.
Such a cool concept! I loved how well the sound effects and background sounds meshed together. Great game
This is so well done! Props to you!
The UI is well-designed and I had fun juggling the different items.
Good work!
The amount of polish in the UI was incredible. The SFX got annoying for me after a while, and I feel this could've been made a bit less repetitive early on. Also, really amazing art and tutorial, but the 1/20 scared me a bit lol.
