Episode description

Lip Sync... OR DIE!

I liked this game and needing the cat to kill enemies was a neat mechanic. The cat's AI was pretty good, though sometimes it seemed a bit slow and wouldn't realize that there was an enemy to kill until I lead him closer to it.

It would've been cool if enemies were more varied, as most of them just run at you. I think the magic ones were different, though I only saw them do something once (the first time I saw them) when a skeleton got teleported outside the map. I also ran into a bug where I couldn't replenish hearts and was capped at two for some reason. Overall, nice game. Gameplay was fun, graphics were nice, movement was solid, and mechanics were interesting.

I really liked this game.

I think the checkpoint(s?) was kinda unforgiving. But it wasn't overall punishing. I did die once because cat got stuck in the wall during the final boss... And I died. And had to go all the way back to that checkpoint... Which was very saddening. The game overall though, is really well polished and very fun to play!

Okay, so I played Girl and Cat Fight Back.

Game feels very good to play: it looks nice, controlls are smooth, sounds are pleasing. Took me some time to figure out only the cat can finish off enemies, but after that it was a breeze.

Until I died and had to start all over again. Had 3 deaths in total. It kinda sucks to start from the beginning, but the skill builds up very quickly and first few rooms become really-really simple. So maybe one midpoint checkpoint would have been enough? Hard to say.

Now, as I said earlier, the sprites are really nice, the music is very nice and the SFX are very nice. But a lot of it was bought on a marketplace, sadly (or based on it with a color pallet change). That’s somewhat of a bitter pill.

Additionally, cat gets stuck all the time. If I understand correctly, he doesn’t have any real pathfinding. It’s fine in the scope of a Jam, but takes some time to get used to. Sucks to get killed because the cat didn’t show up or didn’t teleport to the next room. It is an essential element of the game’s progression, but you almost have no control over it. Frustrating sometimes.

Conclusion:
Very nice and polished game, albeit heavily comprised of pre-made assets. It was a pleasure to play, even when the cat dumbed out. Like a real cat would)

Really cute and fun game! I wish there was a checkpoint system instead of having to start all over if you die, I accidentally ran straight into a spirit at the very end and had to start all over. At one point too the cat got stuck on the wall and wouldn't go finish off the spirits, but that only happened one time.

Great game overall, well done!

I loved this game! Got bumped into the wall at some point, but still...
