Creative Vision / Rationale / How Did You Incorporate the Theme
Bittersweet is inspired by a common experience among Arab and South Asian households, where tea time is dedicated to discussing all manner of problems. As children, we are ignorant to the weight these conversations had, prioritizing instead the next interesting thing to play with. We can all relate to big sacrifices our parents made raising us, but it’s in these little moments of reprieve that we often overlook the little things they gave.

Indulge and overflow your beverage, for there is no consequence in seeking comfort.

This is great! A short and sweet experience! A very suitable title for the game! Wish it was longer! I played it twice to see if there was a way to prolong the game or get alt endings! You have something special brewing here I think!

heya it's Chris-

Really charming and short experience - thank you guys. This can be a blueprint to build a bigger scoped project on top of. I was waiting for the bitter part, but everything that I noticed was sweet--and that's a nice thing too!

For me personally, your game triggered an unmet need in my own personal life--growing up, my dad mostly used meal times and coffee times as lecture and discipline times instead. It's always nice to see that others get the chance to display their affections through conversations and nice drinks and food instead.

Loved this short experience! Tea holds so much meaning culturally, and being able to glimpse into this loving household warms my heart. My curiosity led me to keep fidgeting with the interacts, much like a child’s short attention span lol.

This was lovely, I do wish there were more things to play around with in the environment to perhaps learn more about the family. Overall, very wholesome :)

I kept spamming things and it all worked, loved it. The dialogues are original and from real people and they sound soo good! Love how culturally relevant this is too, cuz the situation presented is very true for a lot of us HAHAHA

This was a really heartwarming piece. My ADHD brain immediately got sucked into all the interactables appearing before me and the satisfying sounds they made, so I definitely think it served its purpose in that respect! The visuals are also very pleasing and contribute to the warmth of the overall concept. While I do think the incorporation of generosity is much more subtle in nature, it's a unique and personal one. I believe this game could go very far with some more development like some extra interactables!

What a warming experience. Was very cute!

Ah, this game could be something special with a bit more dynamic scene and player interaction. Really great start to a wonderful idea

I like how simple yet meaningful it is. I do wish we got a couple more interactions, but it was still fun nonetheless, the cat poking its head out only to disappear when you clicked on it was my favorite aspect lol. The game did a good job of capturing the theme, great work!

Game is cute but i didn't understand how does it incorporate the view of theme. I got this was about parents, but you don't play as a parent, who needs to help his child, you are the child. I love the art and voice acting, gameplay is simple but convenient.

Exposition is a little long, at the beginning, i had no idea what to do and who i am playing for. Game is cute but i didn't understand how does it incorporate the view of theme. I got this was about parents, but you don't play as a parent, who needs to help his child, you are the child.

I love that I actually did the thing I was supposed to, before reading your description. Yes as children we didn't pay attention to these conversations. Sometimes when I am at my parents house and they are having coffee I am now a participant in these conversations, and it makes me realize that at I am not a kid anymore.
I love that there is a voice acting, it adds so much character, even if there is not much movement, it makes it immersive! Very pretty game! I wish it was longer I wanted to see more :)

Very nice short game.

It worked perfectly on our end, the person playing was so nicely distracted by the tea and snacks - it made it so hard to follow the serious discussion.

The game creates an immersive feeling for a situation only few of us really experienced in real life, I guess - and this makes this one stand out since this is a quality "only" games can do really well :) Thank you and keep it up mates!

I loved that this game was a snapshot into the lives of this family that we as the player are introduced to. There are so many interesting details on the immigrant experience, going home, etc all the whilst being in the perspective of a child who's blissfully ignorant to the "adult issues" being discussed. The gameplay felt very fitting for the context, and is a realistic and nostalgic portrayal of day-to-day life. I wish elements of generosity were more deeply meshed into this snapshot conversation, but I love the narrative and the game's simplicity so much. Wonderfully done!

I like the way you took the idea of generosity and made it feel very real. The art is also beautiful

Really interesting game design!

I really enjoyed the nicknames I was being called as the toddler. I'm not sure if they have any cultural meanings or if they were just personal, fun nicknames for the game. This was a cute game. Loved putting continuous drops of honey into my tea.

The tea being too hot at first made me laugh out loud, especially when I kept trying to drink it. I feel that's a universal experience.

The voice acting is done so well, and the art is beautiful. It very much brought back memories of the dinner table listening to my parents talk.

I loved this experience and glimpse into culture.
