It was fortunate that I came across this game while thoroughly engrossed in mockumentaries. I played it with genuine immersion. As with other players' feedback, it would have been preferable if the photos had been explored by directly investigating the photo album rather than simply flipping through them sequentially.
Love this one! Good aesthetic and analog horror style. I hope the player was checking an old computer or a collection of physical photos, which will make it feel more realistic.
Oh, please, rate this new one game https://itch.io/jam/scream-jam-2025/rate/3962987 nobody rate this, everyone must go from one game to another to be a visible...
Aggressive noise filters make me happy. The rest of the game did as well. This was a fun way to use the old "slenderman photoshop" style of analog horror. I wish you had more dedicated photos, ie things that more than stock resources being used to great effect, but I dug it anyway. Great stuff.
This is definitely one of my favorites so far. I love the aesthetics, the sounds, and the concept of finding anomalies in photos.
Really love the visuals and aspect of searching the unknown with the magnifying glass!
This was a pretty cool game!
Having to search and hover over the photo to see what's actually going on underneath what the naked eye can see is a really neat mechanic. The game's story is really simple but leaves a lot out, which makes it feel way more eerie. I found the screamer at the end to be more funny than startling, but maybe that's just me. To sum it up, though, I enjoyed this game quite a bit, despite it being so short.
I really enjoyed this. While very short, it is one of my favorite games of the jam so far (and this is the 96th game I am reviewing).
The gameplay is very simple, but the central idea is quite original.
The visuals are extremely evocative and the sound is very dramatic and effective at creating a sense of absolute dread. The writing is very solid.
I can honestly say I would have enjoyed twice as many challenges to wade through. Some interpretation to tie the phenomena together would be the icing on the cake.
The visual style and the ambient sounds are quite fitting the vibe of the game. I like the changing order of the pictures. The vagueness of story is making everything more mysterious. Good job.
OMG how did you manage to scare me with only pixels moving? Well, the "Insidious" music is 80% the cause. 20% the screamer lol. Good job!
Hello! Even though this game is based on a very simple concept, i liked it very much! I appreciated the music a lot, and the whole game was very creepy. Especially the end! Good job!
Wow very nice game! It’s something different from any other game i have seen in this jam and you did a great job!
Amazing job, probably my favorite so far! Good writing and atmosphere!
Really cool game and great concept! atmosphere is superb, feels very polished for what its trying to be.
Cool Concept and stunning visuals, Congratulations!
Very interesting concept and amazing visuals! Congratulations!
That was awesome. I liked how the images resolution actually became more detailed with the magnifying glass (instead of just being bigger). This is so well done. How did you get the staticky effect on the pictures? It looked very good. Nice work!
thanks a lot! I processed the images using a custom dithering program I wrote https://github.com/johnconwell/dither you can research “temporal dithering” to learn more
That’s incredible! Hope to see more from you!
Intriguing! I would love to see this expanded into a full game with a greater emphasis on investigation and making connections - I almost wish there wasn't a sound cue when you find what's wrong (sometimes I hadn't actually noticed it yet, it kind of spoiled the fun of spotting and clicking the anomaly)
thanks for playing! I agree on the sound cue, i feel like it got repetitive as well
Great game ! The gameplay mechanic is well executed and with the audio it really gives a eerie feeling ! I love how you depicted the fact that the photo is in bad condition with a noisy effect. It would be great if at the end you took a picture of the player to put there !
Neat visuals and a really interesting and well-executed idea. My only nitpick is that the background music feels a bit too noisy at times.
