nice
I got out of there at 11:01. I like how the IT guy had messy hair-- very typical. lol Also, if I worked on the top floor I would need an elevator! What kind of job is this? :) Great job getting your game submitted with still 6 hours remaining.
haha this is an amalgamation of many jobs I have worked lol. Yeah those 6 hours were for sleeping, I live in New Zealand and work full time, most of this got punched out in an evening….which you might be able to tell. Thank you.
I don't see much gameplay in this one. If the goal is getting as fast as possible then skipping dialongs without reading is way to go. Would add some complexity if in confersations with other I had an option what to say and my goal would be to come up with a reply that results in shortest dialog.
That would be a brilliant addition to the game! It could be really funny too, the kind of conversation rabbit holes we go down when we are just trying to leave.
yes this was actually an idea I had too, idea being that you would have to figure out the correct combination of short answers to leave sooner. Also this was my first time creating any kind of dialogue in a project, in the end I just had no time! Thank you for playing though
I think with just a few more options of thing to do this would have been a pretty cool experience, there's potential with the concept!
thank you, yeah I had very little time on this to do anything apart from this. Lots of ideas to make it fun if I get back to it though.
Nice concept, wish there was something more active to do, like if you had an annoying coworker you had to take the lift back up to avoid or something like that?
love the dialogues, but yeah it would have been more fun with tasks you had to complete on each floor before you could leave (i wish there was a way to jump off the building to escape quicker /s) but anyhow it's good game for your first game jam!
Legit was gonna squeeze this in but wanted just to go to bed in the end - you could take stairs up to roof and jump, except you'd GameOver instead of receive a score. Anyway thanks for playing + lovely feedback.
Haha that would have been a nice easter egg
just what I needed!, something relaxing to play in order to rest of coding, I enjoyed the dialogues and the office environment sound, felt like I was in an real office, ha I saw some photos that I shouldn't! congrats on the concept, I like the fact that I was on the top floor of the building and had to through all the people on my exit, it happened a lot of times in real life , well done!
Ahh that's awesome, thanks for the feedback. Obviously needs some work glad you enjoyed the idea, I had loads of ideas for little meta jokes I could have included and ideas for different mechanics that could increase enjoyment. Something about it being actually a bit tedious plays into the concept though I guess.
I really like the concept!
The art style, while a bit crude, adds a lot to the charm and humor the game goes for. I enjoyed it a lot.
The sound works well for what you're going for, too!
In terms of feedback:
As other commenters have said, it would've been cool to have some sort of mechanic that you need to do quickly, but I understand time constraints can be really harsh sometimes. It seems you had this exact idea but couldn't execute it in time, it'd be cool if you did it after the jam!
It felt a bit odd that you put a lot of work into the dialogue to have some satire, but then the game revolves around trying your hardest not to read it. Maybe an idea would be to have those minigames allow you to skip the conversation, but if you don't do them in time you have to sit through the conversation going at a set speed?
It would be really cool if you added some sounds to the dialogue, like some 8-bit babble or just you doing some nonsense sounds into the mic.
Overall I liked it a lot, and it's really cool that it's your first jam game! Keep up the good work!
Thanks so much!! Appreciate you taking the time to 'play'. I actually agree with everything you said, though surprisingly little work went into the dialogue, I managed to just punch out some stuff pretty quickly ( I'm used to working in these environments! ). Ultimately though I pretty much had half a day to do this by myself (hence the crude art style with 0 animation ). I almost didn't bother but feedback like this makes me happy I did!
I'm glad you liked the concept, that's all I could really test here. Love your feedback and ideas though - if i get back to this and flesh it out i think i'll include some of that for sure :).
I'll go over and check your game out now!
Slightly dissappointed that the IT guy didn't show any actual cat images, fun narrative tho :)
Haha...in a perfect world yes, thanks for playing :).
The game was good but i have one suggestion , try to add some small tasks so the players can engage in one level.
Thanks - yeah this was the idea at first. Have some challenges on the levels that could somewhat reflect each department. No time unfortunately!
Interesting concept! Playing this from work haha , Art can be better and we noticed a bug where initially the game doesnt start unless i press on S for some reason ?
Thanks for playing. Yeah this was very much seeing what I could crush out quickly, most of this was over one evening with m scribbling all the 'art' . Weird that it's only 's' that lets you start, it's likely anything that is not 'a' or 'd' - but yes bugs very possible(There are quite a few more haha)!
Fun narrative experience, I love the personality and corporate satire you included. Nice ambience of a bustling office.
Cool idea, but all it really boiled down to was holding right/left and spamming through dialog boxes. Would've been fun if there was some sort of minigame or mechanic you had to do to avoid your coworkers and get out of their conversations.
Yep. This was exactly the idea initially - I feel like there's a load of scope for fun mini-games on each floor. Ultimately, I just didn't have any time to execute like I wanted to but thank you for playing!
good idea
