This game was made so well I'm just left missing that era of gaming very much. Love the OST and the graphics so much!

An incredible work! Every aspect, the graphics, sounds, gameplay, it's all so well refined and fitting of the era. The CRT effect on the screen, the bitcrunched audio, you could easily tell me this is a PS1 classic I'd never played and I'd believe you! Love the interpretations of the mascots, the music is absolutely on-point, the logos and UI are excellent, just everything about this game I love.
This is so good! I This controls really well, and each course was fun and visually/thematically interesting. The shortcuts were fun to find, and the redesigns of the mascots were great, Taxxie was my favorite. We are all fans of retro visual styles in the robot party, but I think this game doesn't benefit that much from the pixel filters and bitcrushed audio. The music was bangin too.
Wow! This feels close to professional level. I particularly like how it evoked the 90s through the filters used and particularly the voice acting and compression on the sound files. Really coherent effort but perhaps most of all a really playable game!
I mean what can I say! It's unbelievable what's been achieved here. This game is a beautiful, mechanically tight, retro racer that delivers on all fronts. The character designs are so snazzy, the courses are all memorable and interesting and beautiful, and the music, THE MUSIC, is some of the best video game music I've ever heard. Genuinely blown away by this one! Sensational.
Incredible! The quality of everything from music to art to gameplay is just unbelievable. Really, really impressed! I could play this for hours! Hey, could you make the next wipeout pls ;p
I had a super great time with it. felt like a good level of difficulty and the tracks ramped up well. its also so so tempting to replay a bunch and find weird shortcuts
Exquisite music, visuals, and style. The UI is extremely professional and I love the subtle touches like music volume slightly dipping when you pause. Every character design is ferociously hip and their in-game taunts are a great touch (though a little hard to hear at times). The racing gameplay and course design are really good and make me want to keep playing. The only tiny note I have is including some Smoke Box menu items might promote the restaurant a little more, like hot sauce as boost or something. But that would also kind of detract from the overall ferocious hip-ness so it's understandable to keep things refined. Oh and I'm buying this OST when it's available.
The OST's up for a free download at https://lamsjams.bandcamp.com/album/bbq-riderz-original-soundtrack for you! And on streaming, just search for BBQ Riderz :D
Love the unique take on each of the mascots along with their matching vehicles! The racing was fun and satisfying hitting the boosts giving a great sense of speed. Everything from the music to the ui design is just incredible.
The physics feel really good. Sometimes if you hit the corner a little too fast, you can hover outside of the stage and orient yourself back in without getting reset. All four tracks are uniquely awesome and have some nice "off-road" moments. Bay Area is a very chill area to hang out in and driving towards the sunset is perfect.
A lot of fun to play, and phenomenal vibes. All the mascot redesigns are sick as hell. I love seeing people really put their own stamp on the characters. The music is pitch-perfect, too. Just aesthetically great all-round.
Not to mention, getting 4 distinct tracks in place is damn impressive. Think Shadow S'mores is my favourite.
Insane production quality, even considering the team size. The tracks were really well designed, and the driving physics were pretty fun to experiment with.
I wish my time on each course was displayed after finishing, but I did track my best times doing the single levels:
Bay of Pig Roast: 3:35 - Will Soar (idk why this was the only time I was able to select him)
Area 51 H&S: 2:35 - Pit Master
Shadow Smores: 3:45 - Taxxie
Dark Silhouette Dimension: 1:35 - Pit Master
Open to any challengers.
First off, I found one bug! On the menu the Settings menu won't go away after you select it. Otherwise...
Wild game! And challenging! Thankfully it was balanced enough that I was still able to win despite the several times I careened off the edge of the map! That was still enough to keep me engaged and tense throughout the entire prix. Kudos to the entire team, because this game's got VIBES. The designs, sound, music, art are just all phenomenal, and I loved the variations in all the tracks. After some time you're going to have to share all the endings! (Maybe in the post mortem??)
