Very nice game. Never seen a tower defence with movement before. Great idea. I whish i had some feedback when my weapens get demaged.

Developer(+1)

Glad you liked it!
Could you elaborate on what kind of feedback you mean? Currently there is a health bar shown above each building part. Do you mean like damage numbers or something?

Submitted

Ahhh dident see the health bar because it is rotating:D

amazing gameplay! well done

Developer

Thank you! Glad you liked it :)

Wow very awesome game! I really enjoyed it a lot! The possibilies are endless.

It is just missing some polish and some balancing. Very nice game you created there!

Developer

Glad you liked the endless possibilities!
You are right. The core systems unfortunately took quite a lot of work so that polish and balancing fell of the time frame. But since the core is rather ready, we are able to expand and polish really nicely.

Not really a fan of the rogue and metroidmania genre, thus i only focus on points i'd think would benefit this game from the players side:

  • Enemies indicator on screen border
  • Sfx near enemies
  • darker background for a more popping experience, maybe add a glow to all interactible game objects

Still good execution of the core game (and unique idea, the rumba theme reminds me of the rombas mods of william osman on youtube) in just very lttile time, appreciate the efforts ;)

Developer

Thank you very much for your feedback!
Now that you say it, enemy indicators on the screen border would totally help. Did not even consider that yet.
Were you able to hear spatialized sound? I think all sounds were unified or is that what you would change?
yeah, we had some troubles with colors and contrast during development as well. We did not have the time to find a balanced color palette but will rework in the future for sure!

Submitted(+1)

Idk about spatial sound, currently i play with speakers due to ear cartilage piercings. What i mean is for example multiple sound sources, e.g. a speaker attached to each enemy to get an impression of depth.

For our very quick and dirty audio setup i placed alone 5 speakers on the player character, so different sounds for different purposes can get blended.

Developer(+1)

Ah i see. Yes, better sound placing for spatial awareness would be really cool and considered for future updates. For the jam though, we kept it rather simple.

Very nice ! Would have loved to be able to destroy parts during the combat phase to throw weapons at the enemy using physics. Also a versus mode would be insanely enjoyable.

Developer

Some form of throwing/physics mechanic... noted in the design log :)
Currently parts are only able to fall off if the supporting structure breaks.
A versus mode would be awesome indeed, maybe we get to build some split-screen or something.

Brotato meets Roomba. Hillarious concept and great execution. Pimping my own Roomba and sending it into battle is just awesome. One of my Favorites this jam

Developer

Brotato certainly has some similarities. Glad you liked it so much!

Submitted(+2)

OMG you made a actually enjoyable version of those annoying ads...Great game :)

Developer

Haha, thank you so much!

Submitted(+2)

And the winner is...! This Game is awesome. Please make a full version of this game, its the best game i played in this Jam.

Developer(+1)

Whoa! Thank you so much! Love to hear that you had so much fun! I personally am surely going to keep working on the game. Feel free to follow for updates. ;)

Submitted(+1)

I will follow for updates :)

Developer (1 edit)

Here is another great setup sent from one of our players. An all-destroying setup of maces and guns!

(+2)

This is awesome! I spent so much time in this.

I’m just wondering: Do some opponents explode if I kill them with a flamethrower? And do knifes somehow deal damage to myself?

Because I can basically go infinite if I have enough maces, as long as I repair them. But if I use Flamethrowers, I sometime loose life. And if I use a lot of knifes, my life just constantly goes down.

So… maceception it is. I’m just wondering, if this is intentional.

Developer

Im happy to hear you had a great time! You observed that correctly. Unfortunately, only the mace is working as intended; the other weapons have some self-damaging bugs. As soon as we upload a fixed version you can go infinite with all sorts of weapons. We intend to add way more enemy builds as well!

(+2)

I can definitely appreciate that one screenshot of the flamethrower monster wayyy more after playing a round or two or ten. Great game! Add a multiplayer mode and this will be a hit among online groups :D

Developer(+1)

Absolutely! Big builds are currently most achievable with spikeballs only due to self-damaging bugs, but a fixed version will enhance the building mechanic by a LOT; feel free to look out for updates.
Multiplayer would be soooo much fun but also soooo much more work. Maybe we get around to some form of multiplayer.

I'll look forward to your updates then. :D

Multiplayer is a pain in the roomba to implement so I totally understand that it's single player only. (Honestly tho, I think your game concept would simply work great for bonking friends online and I do mean that as a compliment.) Proof: My boyfriend has been playing for a couple hours now.  Yes, hours. He's started to build the ultimade war machine. So far, I can only describe it as a biblically accurate roomba.

If you don't mind me asking, how did you come up with the idea?

Developer(+1)

Hahaha great news! Feel free to post some screenshots in the comment section. I would love to see the effort! I would also love to break the Doombas of friends in the arena. Maybe some day, somehow.
The idea developed from a mix of
- "Skyscraper demolition game" for placing weapons (which was our second favorite idea)

- Broken robots going rogue/ breaking and building/repairing things from scrap pieces

- Faible for vampire survivor type games

-Lots of brainstorming and inspiration of other ideas.

I am honestly astonished how similar some of our ideas were to submitted games. Putt golf, angry birds katapult like, repair shop, godzilla city destroyer etc. but battle bot arena with building mechanic seemed the most fun to implement at that time.

Funny, the first thing I said when I saw the arena and the upgrading phase was that it has a Vampire Survivors vibe.  Thanks for the elaborate answer btw! Really apreciate it.

And yeah, our team felt the same - our second idea was a robot that improves itself with scrap. I can't recall the name but someone made exactly that. :D

Developer

I saw that even a super similar battle bot arena game was submitted. Same perspective and mods and stuff. Hive mind game developers lol.

Submitted(+2)

I played this for way too long. I will continue to play this for way too long. 10/10

Developer(+1)

Once we iron out all the bugs it will be 11/10!

Submitted(+2)

Really cool game! Feels like it has so much potential to be expanded—would love to see more!

Developer

Love to hear that you are interested in more. Just wait until we can upload a bug-free version. Then it will unlock its full potential.

Submitted(+2)

You can definitely go doomba with this thing xD Great work!

Developer(+1)

TIP: You can stack rotators onto each other to reach crazy mayhem speeds haha

Submitted(+2)

Really cool game! Slowly building a more and more powerful and crazier looking "Doomba" was fun! :-)

Developer(+1)

Haha, glad you liked it and hope you were able to wreak havoc among the Doombas!

Submitted(+1)

Cool Game! Will you keep working on it?

Developer(+1)

Thank you very much! I personally think I will keep working on it. We came quite far during the jam. I will definitely post a fixed, bug-free version and add more enemies and weapons. Building all the expandable systems took so long that we didn't get to actually expand the game. But now, all systems are in place to add lots of enemies and weapons really easily.

Submitted

Sounds great! We also had some time issues with our game and some unused ideas, but I might keep working on it. Will you upload it on your account then?

Developer

Yes, either i reupload on my personal or on the submitter account. I saw that you followed me. You will probably be notified, but if i get to uploading ill make sure to notify you <3

Submitted

Thank you :)

Submitted(+1)

This game has great potential! Keep up the good work

Submitted(+2)

very fun! and cool idea! i kept dying from nothing tho. like no enemies would touch me but id constantly take damage over time, slowly but unavoidably killing me after some time. not sure if thats intended

Developer (2 edits)

We like to hear that you had fun playing our game. You are correct, there are still some collision detection bugs that unintentionally damage you. I noticed as well that some weapon/enemy collisions damage you even though they shouldn't. Until we are able to upload fixes again I suggest to play only using spikeballs. They seem the most robust. Or try to go full ranged damage with guns only. Going for an endless run/ huge build is currently only possible with spikeballs.

Submitted(+1)

always wanted to build my own murderous roomba. Great! :D
