Description
# Game Description
SNES inspired soundtrack for an arcade puzzle game in the vein of Puyo-Puyo, Panel de Pon, and Dr Mario.

# Story
There once was a tree that stood at the center of the kingdom, its emerald leaves were said to cure any disease.
It was called The Crystal Oak, and the land flourished around it.
One day, the young prince fell so ill that even the tree could not heal it.
In a fit of grief, the king burned the tree.
Though he soon realized his mistake, it was too late.
The Crystal Oak's gemstone seeds flew across the land. A few grew into saplings, but most were crushed underfoot.
Twenty years have passed. They say if you find a sapling, you can sell it for riches beyond your wildest dreams.
Now, a new story begins...

# Playable Characters
Rose - Fire Mage (Red). Wants to heal her ailing sister's disease.
Aqua - Merfolk (Blue). Wants to trade the sapling to a dragon for her hostage mother.
Ivy - Dryad (Green). Wants to grow a new Crystal Oak in a secret place, so humans will not find it before it bears fruit.
King Alcrus III - The king (Yellow). Wants to atone for his burning of the Crystal Oak by planting a new one.

# Story Mode Notes
In the story mode, players journey through the kingdom to find a crystal sapling.
The opponents are rivals in searching for the saplings.
The player eventually ends up at the empty royal palace, and the final boss of story mode is the ghost of the Crystal Oak
Beating the spirit accelerates the growth of the saplings that are scattered around the kingdom, and the player gets a epilogue cutscene.

Message from the artist:
I tried to channel a lot of what I think Kirby songs are like. I haven't actually played a Kirby game though, so it ended up with me really leaning on the music box samples I had.

Theme

Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
I took inspiration from the image, imagining the blue and red blobs as gemstones, which lead to the idea of a puzzle arcade game (via memories of Bejeweled and such).

I think this is a bit more novel than my original idea about a blue and red slime, but frankly I worry that it was too abstract.

Cute chiptunish music! Composition is nice!

But I'd suggest turning high pitched sounds down a  bit or changing them for something lower in some tracks — it's fine in each track by its own but if you have a lot of tracks in a row that sound so bright it a bit harsh on the ears :)

Very nice retro sounds and melodies. Good job

I like how this music tracks are matched to each other. Similar style! Listening them in order is smooth. Good job! Cool synths! :)

I really like the recurring theme you've got going on in here! Sounds super great.

Love the exercise of composing for the mood of a series you haven't played, ensures you're bringing something new to the more obvious aesthetics. Very bright and playful, thanks for sharing!

You can taste the sweetness of well composed melodies listening through out the tracks, super pretty.

Couldn't be a happier listening to a soundtrack xD

Edit: Oh, almost forgot! I like the game idea, very creative :)

Welcome to Adorabletown, the main city of Cuteland ! The melodies mainly based on a short harmonic march are eatch time so wonderfully punctuated by a perfect cadence: it is clear, clean and adorable at the same time. The choice of instruments with very high-pitched sounds gives the impression that the stars in the sky have begun to sing in chorus. It's charming, pleasant, and the variations offered in the various pieces accentuate even more the very Japanese anime "kawaii" side. An OST which melts the heart by its endearing side. A great success that would adapt as much for a game of any type as an episode of an animated series, while listening just with happiness. Even the jingle where the player loses is adorable ! TOO CUTE !

very well done. all pieces are unique, but at the same time close enough to each other to make it a consistent theme for a game.

I really like the lead sound, it reminded me a lot of the first Mother game, and I think a puzzle game take on the theme is really interesting, a very underrated genre of game music! And that Game Over jingle is adorable.

Ah!! Super cute! When I listened to this on soundcloud I thought due to the album artwork that this game would be about an adventuring frog but now looking at the jam page I see that was not the intent. I think I'm going to still imagine that all of the characters are frog people though.

Overall really nice sound! I think there were a couple places where the harmonies/bass line could have been a little tighter. I agree that the Game Over jingle is really nice and your instrumentation choices were good too.
