Description
This is a soundtrack within the constraints of the Sega Genesis' sound chips. It scores a shoot-em-up in which the player is riding on the back of a dragon! Melody of the White Dragon is the game's title theme, the following five tracks are the five shmup stages, and The Sound of Victory is the fanfare when you complete the game! Specific track details are available on my Bandcamp page. The tracks were composed in Furnace, a chiptune tracker by tildearrow.

Here's the main description in case it doesn't appear on the submission page:

In the distant past, six great dragons watched over and protected the natural world: the Emerald, Azure, Crimson, Golden, Black, and White Dragons. Six humans, the people with the deepest and strongest connection to the dragons, were the only ones capable of riding the dragons, and harnessing their immense power. It was a perfect, delicate balance between gods and mortals.
Until one day, some dudes from the future appeared?!?! They had robots and lasers and stuff, and in a bid to use the dragons' power for their own gain, they began to take control of them! Now the rider of the White Dragon is the only one left who can stop them!
Dragon Rider Blitz is a shoot-em-up, with a twist: instead of piloting a vehicle, you're riding on the back of a dragon! Featuring tough-as-nails shmup gameplay, five dragon bosses who grant you their powers, and a kick-ass Sega Genesis OST,! The game may not be real, but the soundtrack is! I hope you enjoy!

Message from the artist
This is my second OST Composing Jam! I was inspired a lot by Gradius for this one. The dragons' colors and implied elements (Earth, Water, Fire, Air, and Darkness) are slightly inspired by godai, the Japanese elements - Earth, Water, Fire, Wind, and Void. Good luck to everyone!

Theme

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody

How does it fit the theme?
The game centers around dragons, you ride on the White Dragon throughout the game, there's a track called the Melody of the White Dragon, and I even referenced "Azure Skies" with the name of one of the dragons!

Incredible soundtrack ! First of all, I must preface that I am a big fan of MegaDrive/Genesis style soundtracks (I bought the Sonicware MegaSynthesis for this kind of sound recently, great tool) so of course I was going to like this and even then, the arrangements are really great !
Lots of nice variety that I could easily imagine being in a game from this era (it made me think of the Valis OST or Shadow Dancer on The Fortress Of The Black Dragon track).
Anyway, great job !

WOW these are all BANGERS. Amazing stuff! The story and game concept are pretty cool as well!

Wow, this is absolutely nuts!! Very punchy and dynamic, and I absolutely adore your melodic sense!!

Btw idk if you meant to have a little nod to Skyrims's "Dragonborn" in the melody of the opening track, but I'm all for it haha definitely had my mind on dragons after that!

Multiple people informed me that the melody is exactly from Skyrim LMAO!! I swear I've never heard that section of the Dragonborn song, only the first part with the vocals, so I think it was a coincidence, or at worst some subconscious interference lol. It's insane how well it works thematically though!!

This is INCREDIBLE! I can't believe you pulled this off in 48 hours, amazing work! The Skies of the Golden Dragon is insanely impressive and you have such a clear concept for the game :) brilliant work, I'm inspired.
(also that victory theme reminded me so much of Mother 3... so beautiful)

Insane amount of music to have been made in 48 hours. Well done.

I love when people succesfully achieve 8bit- SNES sounds!

If Mega Man X was a dragon, this would've been it. Absolutely masterful chiptune work, I only don't know where to learn from the pros like you, FM seems impossible.

Next time I forget what the term bop means, I'll come back here for a quick reminder lol. Absolutely awesome work!

Easiest 5 stars for impression of my life! It starts with a bang and never lets up which I really really like. Fantastic job all around!

My favorite by far was the crimson dragon. It gave me heavy megaman vibes which is amazing!

Also this is a really cool interpretation of the theme. Just a superb job all around!

Yeah this clears everything I've listened to so far

This is so cool! I like your theme of making songs for different colored dragons. I love the high energy instrumentation in most of these tracks. And I loved the sound of victory, that was so cool of you to include! Awesome work!

Really great stuff for just 2 days! I remember your tracks from one of the previous crunchtime jams. Like the previous ones, these make me feel i should stop procrastinating on learning trackers.

HOOKED from beginning to finish. I wanna fight these dragons just for the music, now!

Just wow, amazing work. My only general critique is that some of the tracks weren't distinct enough, but the azure and black dragon themes were super distinct and good. I love your overall sense of harmonic movement, you capture the chiptune vibes perfectly. The time changes in the black dragon added so much motion and groove, very driving and totally fits what I imagine from the track placement to be a final boss theme. Congrats on a (fake) game well-jammed!
