Description
The genre is orchestral/ cinematic. When I saw the theme, I thought of an action- adventure RPG game, kind of Zelda-like, with a lot of temples and puzzles but also intense fights and mythical creatures. I have a weekend job so I basically only had nighttime to work on this so I focused on one track that would be the main theme and melody for the white Dragon from Azure. You can loop it. I made this in about 7-10 hours and used Ableton Live 12. When I compose I kind of just go with the flow, I chose a scale (E Hirajoshi) and then did it mostly by ear. I used orchestral VSTs and tried to make it as legendary as possible!

Message from the artist
Thanks for hosting this kind of jams! I absolutely love composing soundtrack and working on time crunches. I really enjoyed this and hope perfect pitch helped lol<3

Theme

Chronicles of the Azure Sky: The White Dragon's Melody
Picture theme

How does it fit the theme?
When I thought of the white dragon, I imagined a legendary, lonely and ancient creature yet to be found whose legacy is respected and even feared, but possesses a very warm personality. So I went for a gentle but bittersweet melody, in which I tried to pick airy and delicate sounds, like flutes and harps. I tried to make an epic orchestral introduction that led to an intimate part that would show a new motif/ side of my concept of the dragon and the song itself. I mantained the cinematic style because I wanted it to have a legendary feel, and used subtle chinese intrument plugins to accompany the classical strings and brass.

A little too much repetition in the build-up (personal opinion), but the instrumentation begins to pick up in interest after the first minute. Good work!

Thanks! :)

Great work ! The instrumentation is really enjoyable and although the structure of the track remains mostly identical throughout the whole duration of the track, it manages to stay interesting with the buildup of the different instruments, so great job with that !

I like the Dragon boss vibes at the start - the harp/violin texture is great :)

Developer

Thanks! that was my idea and I'm happy to hear that I achieved it :)

Very pretty! I like that subtle Lydian vibe added by the second chord of the progression. The instrumentation gives me a sort of majestic dragon feel.

Developer

Thankss I'm glad you liked it<3

I liked your use of repetition and then building it up and out! I think a few sections could’ve used a bit of variance but overall a good composition!

Developer

Yeah I wanted to use a motif tbh, thank you!

Very nice arrangement and production! The theme at the beginning had an aerial sound that reminded me of flight - I really enjoyed it!

Really good sample instrument choices! Never heard of the Hirajoshi scale before, sounds great!

Developer(+1)

Thank you! I'm glad you appreciate it and the scale is commonly used on Japanese music!
