Great entry, really polished and very addictive, the weapon upgrades are cool and wanting to try out the next upgrade really gives it that "one more try" feeling. Love the art style too, it brings the old bitmap bros games to mind :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

i’m glad you like it! this is my first time really attempting to make the art myself instead of using an asset pack, so I’m happy you think it came out decently. i still have a lot to learn when it comes to making sprites. thanks!

Very good reaction and coordination game!

Really fun and polished game.

Everything I wanted to say has already been said in other comments, so I'll just say good job! :)

thanks for the comment! i’m glad you had fun with it. i would definitely like to expand on the enemy types and possibly add boss fights of some sort too!

Dank. 5/7.

Developer (1 edit)

you’re too kind! i rate this comment 7/7.

So much fun! The progression is very satisfying and the music slaps!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you for the comment! the music is great, i was very fortunate to come across it on opengameart. i think it fits the game really well.

this is SO GOOD. so punchy. i love how the drones get knocked way back with each successive shot. everything is so fluid and clean and fun. the scenario is great, blowing pieces off foes and collecting the carnage to become a saw flinging machine was immensely rewarding. i echo other sentiments already written: i would love to see some additional foes thrown at me to mix up my strategies, maybe a more complicated robo-building tree, and definitely a high score table. one of my favorite entries in the jam. ya done good, keep it up. :)!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you! i really appreciate your kind words and feedback. i’d love to make the upgrade system a little more in-depth than it is now. i had originally planned to have a limited amount of power on your bot so you’d have to make trade-offs when choosing between upgrades, but we all know how those plans go when on a time constraint. :)

Loved it, there's a thing about upgrades that keeps me going and keeps me going...

And the weapon upgrades were in the perfect place to contain the waves that will come next. Fun, Fast, Great Soundtrack and loved the Endless wave, great touch.

Also, good that used Godot, great engine, great game, wishing luck and success!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you! i agree, incremental upgrades are really fun for me too. i’m glad you found it well balanced. godot is really nice! this is the first project i’ve made with it (outside of the tutorial series) and i’m completely sold on it. it’s an absolute joy to work with.

Well polished game! I loved this very much. If you continue this project, I'd love to see more enemy types, boss battles, perhaps even different arena layouts (rogue-like levels would be neat for exploration/cover)

Developer (2 edits) (+1)

thanks for the comment! i’m definitely interested in expanding on these mechanics after the jam. different arena layouts is an interesting idea i hadn’t really thought about yet. perhaps they could have some environmental hazards like sawblades and flamethrowers too.

Ok, this game blew me. I love bullet hells, and this smells bullety as hell :p

The controls feel just right, the graphics and sounds are very polished, the music is LIT AF, and the weapon progression is pretty on point. Congrats man, this is gold!

Cheers, and good luck (but I don't think you need it)! :)

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you so much for the kind words! i’m really glad to hear you enjoyed the game. :)

Very nice. It's pretty polished, I like it.

Developer (1 edit)

thank you! i tried to spend a good proportion of my time on polishing the features i had rather than only adding new stuff. it meant i had to cut a few things, but i think it was worth it to make the game feel good to play. i’m glad you enjoyed the game.

Submitted(+1)

I did enjoy the game, music is cool.

Developer (1 edit)

thanks for your kind words! the music is made by some brilliant creators on opengameart. you can check the credits on my itch.io page or in-game to get links to the individual pieces. :)

We had really similar games!! Yours is a whole lot of fun. I especially enjoyed the upgrades to weapons as well as the smooth music & controls. Nice job.

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

i was thinking the same when i played yours! gotta love a top-down shooter. :) glad you enjoyed, thanks for the comment!

Not to downplay other people's work, but this was honestly the one game I've tried (out of a couple dozen-ish so far) in this jam that I legitimately felt I was having a lot of fun and wanted more. It reminded me a bit of Subspace, a multiplayer game I played endlessly over 15 years ago that sadly few people play anymore. Thanks for the fun!

Developer (1 edit) (+1)

thank you for the kind words! i’m really glad you found it fun. i have received a lot of good feedback as to how i could extend and enhance the gameplay, so after the jam is over i may look into implementing some of that feedback.

I like this game. Gameplay is real smooth. In a future version, I'd love to see boss fights, some more enemy drone types, and maybe branching weapon tech trees (like maybe you've gotta give something up or pick the right upgrades to get the saw blades).

My current high score:

  • earned 5111 scrap
  • killed 780 drones
  • score: 12911
Developer (2 edits) (+1)

thank you! i’m glad you enjoyed it. those are all great ideas, and i would definitely like to implement some of them. great job on the score, i believe that’s the highest i’ve seen so far!

nice one! i’d love to get a global scoreboard implemented at some point. :)

Awesome game! I keep playing again to try and beat my highscore. Well done :D

thank you for playing! i’m glad you enjoyed it.

Well done, I was a little disappointed that I had no health options on the endless wave but other than that the game was well designed, sleek, and easy to jump right in. Kudos to a great jam entry!

Developer (1 edit)

thank you! i admit the endless wave mechanic is a little odd - i built a large chunk of the game before realising i wasn’t sure how the player would “win” at the end. i would very much like to re-work it into something that makes more sense.

Submitted (1 edit) (+1)

Highly polished and addictive! I struggled with the first wave but it made it all that much more rewarding when I was able to progress and upgrade and eventually shred through enemy ships (with literal saw blades) later on in the game. I thought it would be very satisfying to see a little bit of a recoil animation (or mechanic even?) when using the bigger weapons but it doesn't need it. Well done sir!

Developer (1 edit)

thanks for the feedback! i’m glad to hear you enjoyed it. there are definitely some things i could do to make the weapons feel more “punchy,” perhaps a bit of ol’ fashioned screen-shake! would make that optional of course - i know some people don’t enjoy it.
