Movie scene description (plus video link if possible!)
Not really crafted after a specific scene-- everybody knows Star Wars and the space battles. The X-Wing assault on the death star was a big influence, but obviously you're taking out a Star Destroyer here.

Does your game or video link contain movie spoilers?

No (completely spoiler-free)

Please list any pre-made art/music/other assets that you used.
there are two pre-recorded, free to use sound bits in the game but all other graphics/audio/everything were created from scratch. I did not use a single direct anything from the movies.

they will be attributed on the game page

Anything you want to say to players before they play?
Take out that Star Destroyer! Can you do it? An X-Wing Solo mission?

Neat game! I included it in my Movie Game Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out! :)

This was quite a lot of fun! :D
Made a complete hash of my first attempt (don't ask - I even managed to crash THOUGH the star destroyer model!), but nailed it the 2nd time.
Good graphics and sound. The controls were a little iffy when aiming at the top & bottom orientation. I assume that's to stop things getting too funky. Didn't help me on the last phase coz I thought "I know, I'll attack from the bottom!)
Overall, a really good entry - congrats and good luck! :D

I never quite figured out the rotation when going totally vertical-- I'm sure I could have figured it out but I was terrified of breaking what already worked :p   Thanks for playing! :)

Nice!  Glad he liked it, nice round up video, some good picks in there :)

That was fun! I like how the game feels complete and progressive, with various stages exposing clear goals. The controls were natural, even on azerty keyboard. I didn't feel any difference with the X-Wing switching horizontal / vertical, apart from the cool "as in the movie" factor, I don't know if it had an impact on gameplay (speed or being harder to hit for foes?). Sounds bring a lot too. Of course there is a lot of stuff that could be added but for a jam game it's a totally enjoyable game, very good job! Godot looks like a very interesting engine too.

Thank you!  One of the few projects I feel like I 'scoped' correctly-- I had the whole game essentially completed minus sound a day before the deadline (that never happens with me).   I didn't quite accomplish what I had out in my head for the dodgerolling & the tilt/switch/rotation mechanic, but I left it in, it essentially does nothing :p  But yeah usually I'm scrapping features on the last day, not adding new stuff, so I was happy about that :)  Godot is a fantastic engine, I use it for all my games-- this is the first one I made in Godot 3.0.  The 3D renderer is better than ever :D

This is a pretty well done game. The only thing I would add is some sort of aid in finding the targets.

Developer

Thanks! Definitely doable.

Sound was pretty good, kinda wish it had a smidge more oomph though. A radar to help dodge incoming fire would be nice, that and some flavor of health indicator for the enemies.

Developer

Thanks for playing! I would have loved to have more destruction show (ie shoot a tie fighter, now it burns/smokes as it flies) as a way of indicating health, I think the screen could get cluttered if covered in health bars.

I appreciate the comment on sound-- I'm not a sound producer but I tried my hand on this project.  As you say, many sounds lack some "oomph" but I'm proud of what I accomplished :)

The Star Destroyer feels a bit unthreatening, but this is a fun game nonetheless.

What can I say? This game is fantastic! I really enjoyed it. I beat the game and it felt like a nice reward after being kited by those bad guy tie fighters! My only feedback is to add health bars to the enemies. I am sure you ran into time constraints because it's a jam.

excellent job and well executed!

Developer

Thanks for playing!    I'm glad you had fun. I definitely think health bars or more visual feedback about the damage done to an enemy would be a good idea.

Yeah I am sure outside the scope of the JAM you would have done more. It's great. in my top list for sure. I'll probably stream and replay it again soon after I get through the next 99 on my list.

Pretty simple and fun game. Most mechanics are fun and easy to understand. But for some reason, my ship kept pulling to left without me moving the mouse. Is that a glitch in the game or a problem with my mouse/PC?

Developer

Do you have a controller plugged in?  I think I didn't implement a deadzone correctly.  I'll get on it.

Submitted

Yes, I have. I thought about it later. It's probably it.

Thanks.

I updated the game, if you have a chance to re-download and let me know if it fixes your issue, that would be great!  Regardless, thanks for playing! :)
