The game feels very polished, and great to play too, all of my suggestions have been commented by other people below, so I suggest you take a look at them and take them into consideration :)

Developer

Thank you very much! I will definitely take them into consideration after the jam is over!

Fun gameplay / overall idea, good use of assets. I think the souls shouldn't disappear after each round, though.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, I'll have to rethink the souls mechanic a little bit

Great job with the visuals overal! And the gameplay, too. It was nice having to choose between upgrades or staying alive, gave the game a feel of depth. Maybe trying to lower the upgrade prices a bit would be nice

Excelent work on the lighting <3

Developer

Thank you!  I am very glad you liked it <3

I will definitely work some more on optimization :D

It seems to me that you are a Dark Souls fan which is highly appreciated! Great job on the lighting,  the morphing which is really interesting and the hit effects,it feels impactful. Cheers!

Developer

I'm not sure how you've figured it out from the game, but it is indeed true :D. Also, thanks a lot for playing my game and the feedback!

hahaha ^^ Well, the light keeper remind me of fire keeper, also the souls. The inspiration just shines through it!  Dark souls left such an impact on me that all my games afterwards have a part of it in them xD But getting inspiration from such a great game is only good so no worries! :D

Developer

Thanks again!

An all round good game with some tasteful lighting, nice polished attacks and interesting choices between sacrificing souls for longevity or absorbing them for upgrades. To improve, I would suggest:

  • Perhaps lower the prices of upgrades towards the start of the game - during the first few levels it is impossible to purchase anything.
  • Give the player some time between the end of the round and the upgrade screen to pick up souls, as during the wave it is hard to focus on collecting and attacking

Thank you for trying out my game and for the feedback! I will definitely optimize the prices and the time at the end of the round after the game jam is over!

Cool idea! If you want to keep it as frantic as it is right now it would help if you could tell which souls were what enemy. As the maps get harder it's harder to keep track of them all and if you're any of the slower units you're not collecting them as soon as they die, so you have to sort through a bunch at the end of the round.

First of all thank you very much for playing my game and leaving such a constructive feedback. I will definitely make it so you can tell which creature the ghost belongs, I just  couldn't really do that the way I wanted with the assets given.

For those interested, I will try to post a Devlog video about the process of making the game on Saturday.

Edit: Devlog Posted on my YB channel as well as the game page.
