Love it!
Thanks for playing!
really love this entry, can barely find fault. But I will, because constructive criticism is important 😉 n.b. this doesn't affect my rating, in being nitpicky because it's such a great entry and if you want to make it an actual game there are a couple of little improvements to be made!
As I said in the twitch chat while Ducc was playing, I'd love to see all the balls be consistent - make all of them yellow, make it so your own ball hurts you and make it so none of them disappear.
As piggy said below, visual indication of slow mo would just add that little bit extra polish and improve the UX - but it's only a minor issue.
Seriously good entry, I am impressed!
Thanks! I'm definitely planning on releasing this as a full game, and making the enemy balls consistent / having your own ball be able to damage you are definitely things that will make it into that release, either as optional modifiers or as part of the core gameplay. Really appreciate the constructive criticism by the way, I'll certainly need it if I want to bring this game up to a professional level of quality.
"a professional level of quality" quail says, like it isn't already 😂 but I know what you mean, you always want it to be as good as possible. It really is great already, especially for 48h work.
Most under-appreciated game of the jam. The game was just so polished and fun. Every shot felt satisfying as hell and the game is honestly balanced well. The artwork was great and the SFX and music were really fitting. Slowing down time to aim better was badass and was a great addition.
If I had a complaint, it's that I would have liked a little more indication that I was in slow-mo mode. I noticed the screen sort of zoomed out but anything more would have been helpful as well.
Tbh though, I'm just nitpicking. My high score is 16 but I'll definitely be playing this game more. Amazing job man :)
Wow, high praise when coming from the creator of the bullethell masterpiece Bullet Cove :) I appreciate the feedback about slow mo, and will definitely make it clearer when slow mo is active in future versions of the game, perhaps a fade in around the edges of the screen or bumping up some post processing effects. Thanks for the kind words and good luck beating your high score!
This is really great! By far the most polished submission I've tried. The arcadey gameplay loop is addicting and fun to master, and the animations and effects look very nice. Great stuff!
Thanks! I love adding little bits of polish and small touches to my games, it only takes few moments, and can really go a long way towards improving the experience.
This game ended up being my favorite of the jam. Really great stuff.
This game is excellent ! The rules are simple to understand and hard to master. Using the slow motion effect is so enjoyable ! :D
And I was so proud reaching the high score of 38 but then, I read the comments..
Well done again !
Haha, no shame in 38! Ducc certainly got much further than I was expecting anyone to manage. Thanks for playing!
Wow that was super fun! The gameplay is ultra satisfying. Nice twist on the classic game. The music is great and sound effects are absolutely fantastic. What program did you use to create them? Aiming the ball is easy and precise. I also really like the art style. Movement is smooth. Everything is just extremely polished. Exellent job :)
if you have a minute please check my game too :)
Thank you! The sound effects were made in Bfxr, a really useful program originally made specifically for game jams. https://www.bfxr.net/
Thank you for letting me know
Great game with good music, art and game play! It’s a simple but clever idea that’s well implemented. Well done :)
Thanks! The basic idea was to keep it very simple so I could polish as much as possible. After playing Garden Rogue though, I see it is somehow possible to include a ton of content and polish it to a high standard, you'll have to teach me that sometime. :)
Thank you! A lot is just practice which makes designing a lot faster. Tbf though having a second person doing the art allowed me to focus on the rest. It always better to have a single thing be super polished then have a lot of content. If you ever have any questions feel free to ask! Good luck in future projects :)
This is a quality game! It feels really good and the gameplay is fun too!
But damn does it get difficult fast! my max score is only like 16.
Glad you had fun! But yeah the difficulty curve is definitely one of the game's biggest flaws at the moment, I am planning on working on the game after the jam though, so hopefully I'll be able to make some improvements then. Loved Tactical Fussball by the way, very clever.
Great music, perfect gameplay, and very good use of theme of mixing genres. All around excellent submission.
Much appreciated! Can't take credit for the excellent music though, that honor goes to the talented composer at BoxCat Games. https://freemusicarchive.org/music/BoxCat_Games
Wow! This game is a lot of fun, and has a crazy amount of polish for the 48h. I suppose the simplicity of the gameplay gave you time to flesh it out - and it shows! This would work so well as a mobile game, great little timewaster! Some of the small touches like the character changing colour when in range, and the range being quite forgiving, make it feel very satisfying to play. Great work!
Thanks for playing! I'm glad you enjoyed the small touches and polish. Sun Tzu once said "I fear not the man who has made 48 games, but I fear the man who has polished one game for 48 hours".
Wiser words have never been spoken
Just wanted to add that I have actually found myself coming back to this game again and again, this is probably my favourite game from the jam so far. There's just something so satisfying about the movement and the attacks - the sound, visuals, and tight controls make this an absolute blast to play
Wow, I'm actually flattered to hear that. If you're really into it, you might be interested in seeing Ducc (the Dev behind Normal Golfing) set what was then the world record, with an incredible score of 71. https://www.twitch.tv/videos/805075256?filter=archives&sort=time The run starts at 4:12:47.
This is really really cool ! Amazing concept, amazing gameplay, amazing art !
Thanks! :)
my antivirus is not letting me to download it if you can make it playable on browser it will be appreciated
Do you mean the "Windows protected your PC" popup? If so than you can simply click ""More info" and "Run Anyway". If not, than sorry about that. I'll be sure to upload a browser version once the rating period is over.
55, beat it
Haha, you beat my best by 2 kills! Anything over 50 is actually insane though, at that point 2 enemies are spawning every 2 seconds, so anything less than a kill a second and they start piling up.
yeah but I'm a pro gamer you see, I'll get 100 in no time just watch
It's so polished and the gameplay is amazing, satysfying and really fun. Congrats! One of the best experiences of the jam so far.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This game is too fun. I love the mechanic of hitting the ball towards enemies, every single time I manage to aim the ball right it's just so satisfactory, the slow-motion feature helps a lot for this too, and the player turning yellow when you can hit the ball is pretty useful too. This is one of my favorite submissions I have found on this jam so far. Keep it up!
Thanks for the kind words! Your game is very cool too by the way, it seems we both took inspiration from Celeste.
