Fun arcade action. Was missing character progression in terms of a rogue like.

Check out my review of your game at https://www.twitch.tv/scalphamission

Played game on stream here: https://www.twitch.tv/asfunasfun

Really nice game here. I think the enemy concept is really unique and fun. Perhaps starting the player in a “safe-zone” would be more fair.

Cool concept - can’t wait to see more!

Had fun with the game! Good concept and the music is good. The jumping height was confusing at first, but after like 3 tries I understood it.

Nice game overall!

Thanks for sharing :)

A good balance with the difficulty and how much confident you can get until you lose badly :D I didn't directly understand that it was an auto gun by the way until I stepped on one. No glitch found for me.

I kept falling through the floor when I double jump I think? I was able to beat only 2 levels! Love the overall look and presentation though, the music and the graphics were giving me some NES nostalgia!

Developer

First of all thanks :>

Do you have any details regarding the glitch? I've been trying to fix it for some time now, but sadly can't reproduce it.

Submitted

You're welcome :)

It always seems to be when I do big jumps or double jumps, it happens when I start to fall faster and I slip through the floor.  It also happened frequently if I move forward and jump at the same time. I tried it in the tutorial screen but it didn't happen there I think,  Hope that helps!

Enjoyed the game, Its a cool concept.

Would have maybe preferred a better key then down arrow for shooting but that's nickpicking.

Well done.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you :>

Yeah, using the down arrow to shoot is a bit wird, but I just couldn't figure out what other would be better with wasd

I love this game's color palette! It's very controlled and eye-catching. Some of the enemy designs (like red the one that spreads bubbles across the level) were very creative and really made use of the game's bubble aesthetic. SFX and music also contributed to a concise, retro aesthetic. Not to mention the ability to aim in four directions made the gameplay feel flexible and controlled.

I did have a glitch where I fell off the title screen after jumping and falling through the platform, and then again during two later runs, which forced me to quit and restart each time. Though maybe that was because I'm on the no-Vsync version. I also think the controls might be smoother if Space was shoot and W was jump, since it feels strange to reach over to the down arrow to fire sideways, but that could be just me.

Otherwise, this is a very nice game. Great work!

Developer(+1)

Thank you, especially for your criticism :>

I couldn't use W for jumping since you aim up with it, even considered it... though in retrospect maybe arrow keys for moving might have been a wiser option.

The glitch, based on your description, most likely happened due to few frame drops. I can't pin point the exact reason for that, since I personally never experienced it... Also thanks form reminding that i forgot to add the restart button R to the tutorial... So sorry

Enjoyed the game, it was fun to jump around and shoot things. I like how the movement feels. It was good to have upgrades that all feel different and helpful.

It was a bit annoying that on my best run, i died due to an enemy spawning on top of me during a level switch. But overall a very cute and enjoyable game. Thank you for sharing!

Developer

Thanks :>

Sorry for your best run. An enemy shouldn't actually be able to spawn on you, so you either found edge case and I overlooked a glitch

The character movement feels nice, this reminds me of those old nes games, enemies are really cute but a bit repetitive, BUT, cleaning up the cloud/cotton with the machinegun felt nice! cute entry! <3

Developer(+1)

Thanks :>

Those old nes/arcade were my main inspiration so that isn't surprising.

very interresting and original idea!

Thank you very much :>

The game runs not so smooth on my pc, I don't know why. The framerates drop dramatically low and the character falls through map area.

Not to mention the poor performance and the glitches, the game concept is fine, the art style is cute and enjoyable. Good game!

Developer (2 edits)

Thanks :>

Weird, I never experience any critical frame drops... The glitches are most likely are direct consequence of that.

It would be helpful to know your computer specs, so I can work on fixing it

I don't find how this is incapable. ;/

Developer

Thats even weirder, cause i have almost the same specs... Also graphics card would also be great, though i don't think it change anything.

I gonna upload a version without v-sync, and if that doesn't work; I'm not really sure

Submitted

Thanks, it gets better really. Framerates increased but its not totally smooth and the glitch still occur.

I appreciate you for trying :) Even if I can't experience it fully, I can imagine how this game would be enjoyable to me.

Developer

Sorry,  dude :<

Addicting! The controls feel nice and the upgrades are varied. The subtle differences in enemy behaviours are also appreciated! Sometimes the cellular growths didn't despawn after shooting an enemy, maybe it was intended though.

Good stuff!

Developer(+1)

Thanks :>

The cellular growths only despawn if they were directly connected to the enemy. So it was indeed intended. I wanted to encourage letting the automatons grow, so it will be harder for the player, but also gives them the opportunity to quickly destroy a bunch of it at once.

This game is hard but fun, also this is finally a game with a concept i have never seen before :D

The only thing i have problems with is the jumping physics, i had to figure it out first. Otherwise one of the best games in the jam!

Developer (1 edit)

Thanks :>

It would be really nice and helpful, if you can pinpoint your problem with the jumping physics.
