Such a cute game ! Music and SFX were on point!

Very cute art, I love speeding the boat and crashing into things

Really enjoyed this! Great use of the limitation, and as for the concept - can't really go wrong playing as a cat in a tugboat with a littering wizard, can you :D Loved the ending, too! Only slight frustration, as others have mentioned, are the L & R controls - but overall, great game and really enjoyed playing! :)

Loved this game, very cute and fun. Liked how clunky driving the boat felt :D

A 5 stars game for me!

Great job. Simple, enjoyable and addictive game loop. Art and artstyle: i love it. Captain cat is adorable and rememberable. The music is reactive - i as the player know instantly when im ready to move on. SFX meow ;)

there is only one little thing: i wished the left and right controls were a little bit more responsive. it feels a bit delayed imho

All in all: Great game with character from a solo dev with talent

Developer

thank you so much!! it means a lot to me :)
I'll be uploading a version of the game with (hopefully) better controls once the voting period is done taking everyone's feedback into consideration!

First of all the cat looks super cute hahaha. I really like the art and use of the limitation in the game, controllers were a bit hard but it is a really good game.

love the art and sound. It was very fun but the controls are a bit hard

Very cute! Frustrating to play, but lovely art. Well done

Love this art! :) So cute, and the sounds worked well when bouncing off walls and getting hit :D Controls were a little fiddly but still good!

Submitted(+1)

The controls are quite difficult :/ But I loved the art style and sounds!

Very cute artstyle. I love seeing what solo developers can do for these sort of jams.

Also everyone seems to be complaining about the controls but I think tank controls work fine for this kind of game, the issue is just the execution:
1. The ship just moves too fast for the size of the levels (although if the handling was better this might be better for cool drifts, but smooth turns can be hard to portray in this art style so i get it)
2: You can't fully rotate while still (I'd turn around 45 degrees before stopping), which makes it hard to preemptively setup for that fast movement
3: The angle of the ship doesn't seem to portray the angle of movement. I would be pointing down but moving down/left, or right and up/right.

Developer

Thanks for this detailed insight, you hit the nail on the head. The third point has to do with the way I handled updating the sprite turns - basically the "physics object" you don't see rotates 360 degrees based on how long you hold down the inputs, and there are 16 sprites so every 22.5 degrees the sprite updates - which means that there is a 22.5 degree margin between what you think the angle is (due to the visuals) and what it might actually be. I tried fixing this by making the physics object snap to angles, but at least the way I tried it just ended up feeling bad to move around. So I'm not 100% sure how to fix this, but the first two points I can fiddle with already, so thanks I'll do that!

clunky controls but pretty fun!!

I really like the effects in this game, especially the water ripple effect. The controls were a bit awkward at first, but I was able to get used to them pretty quickly

My favorite so far, the third and final level reminds me of the squid races in Mario Sunshine and felt really good to navigate through!

I love the art direction and cuteness overall, 10/10, would race in the sewer to pick up weird liquid substances again!

Developer(+1)

oh wow thank you!! :D this made my day to read

It feels a bit awkward and fiddly to control but it looks and sounds incredible! I also like all the little touches like letting the player know when they're small enough to progress and the visible damage on the character portrait.

Developer(+1)

yay! I'm so glad you noticed those details :) I totally get what you mean about the controls and I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

I love the game, especially the music! The controls are a bit hard however I managed

Developer

I appreciate the feedback, thank you!

SO cute! I loved the artwork, from the cat driving to the tugboat, to the danger signs haha.

I like the lil story, and it was fun to get smaller and fit into each little space.

The controls were a bit confusing, and at one point I was going backwards when i hit w and forwad when i hit s lol.

When driving slow, zigzaging helps!

Developer

Thank you for playing my game! :)

Yeah I understand the controls thing - up/w is really "moving forward/accelerate" depending on the rotation of the boat, so if the boat is facing downwards, hitting w will move you forward in a down direction. Maybe I should have chosen a different key to be the accelerate (like spacebar or something) and that would have been more clear? Anyway thanks for the feedback!
