Very cool, the controls were a bit hard to get a hang of, but after that i found it very cool weaving around my own actions, it also gets harder than I expected with the walls closing in. The fact that its meant for a little console is also cool but I don't have a raspberry pi on hand at the moment lol.

Yay I got to the end!

This game is simple but very fun and very challenging to play. I like that the walls keep closing in, and timing your button presses and moving at the right pace is nerve wrecking. It's quite impressive that a simple game loop can be that entertaining. And I like how it plays into the limitation.

Not to mention the way it was built, and how it was meant to play. I've been always fascinated with this kind of stuff, but I only went as far as playing around with an arduino a few years ago. I'm definitely giving you top marks for concept as this is super creative and as other people mentioned a very unique approach to a game jam.

If I could give a feedback, I'd say the game itself takes a few tries to "click" as the comet's tail reaches you very fast if you don't move at the beginning. So I'd move the starting position to one of the borders and make so the game starts slowly and picks up the pace after a second or two. I can say though, once you get the hang of it, it becomes extremely fun. It reminded me of those minigames like the FFX thunder thing (which is doing one specific thing which requires precision over and over again, making you eventually fail because your focus can only last so long).

Great job with this one!

Super creative game; simple, fun, unique, and compelling. Takes a second to get the idea but once grokked, it’s immediately enjoyable. I don’t have a pico on hand or I’d try the hardware version. I love that this was designed with some custom hardware in mind, I’ve always wanted to do something like that but never took the plunge. Mad respect. Great job!

Took me about 10 attempts to figure out why I was dying immediately, but after that I was enthralled! I was staring down a pico on a shelf in a shop the other day but didn’t end up buying it and now wish I had lol - maybe it’s time for me to invest in one

Really enjoyed this! My current high score is 163

ooh so close to a win too — 200 is the end! if you do pick up a pico and build your own, i’d love to see what you make with it :3

Aha! I’ll have to try again soon then ;)

Honestly super nice game!!  i was confused at first and had no idea what i was doing, but once i got the hang of it i had a blast of a time, i think my best score ended up around 35 odd?

The thing i love is how theres a nice little skill element in trying to be as efficient as possible by moving as little as possible, but still moving enough, Sort of a "Get as close as you can but dont go over!" Kind of vibe.

Really enjoyed this little arcade-style game! <3

I played the web version... It took me a while to understand what I was supposed to do and the mouse going out of bounds makes really tough to play properly...

It was kind of fun to play, just wished the particles would stop sooner, to be more clear how close I am to be dead and to have a little "slow" time between rushed movements...

This makes the game very short since the bounds are not locked in the web version...

But it was cool and a great to see such a different approach for the game jam...

This is already a really cool concept but knowing it was made for a pico blows my mind.

110! I imagine it's pretty cool with the hardware dial. With the web version, my mouse sometimes goes out of bounds. Also, I could use maybe a second more delay on start.

Really neat idea!

yeah unfortunately the version of SDL2 that comes with emscripten (the “build for web” tool) doesn’t support pointer-warping, for good reason lol. the desktop builds make sure to keep your pointer in-bounds, but i’ve not got a microsoft windows system to build/test with so i couldn’t complete the trifecta

Was a little confused but when I got It i liked it.

Even tho this was made for your console, could have be nice to have some sounds in the playable app version, seeing this develop was really nice tho-

I only got 11, im not very good at this game.

Got a high score of 12! At first, I had a really hard time understanding what to do. My strategy for the game is to try to spawn on the edge and slooowly move across the screen just enough to miss the falling star. I really like the design of the game too and its way of incorporating the theme colors is no colors at all.

Wow, what an achievement!, I can only imagine how difficult it must have been to make this game in a low level programming language. The game is a little too fast paced for me, and it is a little difficult in my opinion, but that does not matter, it is an excellent game nonetheless.

oh! so the game on the miniconsole proper was made in micropython (which is basically just python!) the web build here was a rewrite of the game in C — plays the same, but works better with webgl. so no asm this time around :D

i specifically chose to use micropython over the C/++ SDK to encourage others to make their own content if they were to build their own!

So luckily enough I had all of the parts lying around from various projects so that I could run this as truly intended.

I honestly think this is one of the coolest concepts I've seen in this Jam, and the fact you've essentially made your own console is incredible. Never thought about using a Pico like this.

!!! dude that’s awesome! i really didn’t expect anyone to play it as it was meant to be, thank you!
