Ohhhhhh. There's an aha moment when you realize how to listen for the right tune. This was such a unique idea, really a game you play with your ears which I rarely see.

Super interesting concept, and nice execution.

I loved the character design and hand drawn background too, cool stuff.

Hello Carel and Hemert,

Trying to hear and recreate the music with the instruments is cool, I liked that.

It's a little difficult to hear the song because it only plays for a few seconds when you hit the note. I don't know if the standard sound of the stage was supposed to be a metronome, but regardless, it ended up getting in my way a little when trying to hear the music and tuning.

I enjoyed the art, music and history as well. With a little polishing it can become something really cool. Nice job!

Bit confused at first. Had to go through the tutorial twice :/ Would have loved a bit more polish to make it more clear what to do. Music was lovely and I think you did very well given the time frame! This is one of the best uses of the limitation I have seen, great job!

This is an impressive game -it feels very unique and creative.  I was admittedly really confused about how to tune to the song -until I saw someone mention the inventory -went back and figured it out and really liked it!!  Great music too!  Awesome work on this! :D

The text that explains the games mechanic is too long. A game should make the mechanic work without having to explain it like that. You could have used Keyboard sprites and text to indicate what each key does without having to write a whole sentence just to explain how to quit the menu where you change the instruments

I was a bit thrown out by the instructions in the tutorial; i thought that i could not remember all that.  However, after the first key, i saw that it was easier than the text would led me believe.

Unfortunately, i had to give up on level three.

Nevertheless, i liked it!

The sheer amount of mechanics you managed to add to this game is honestly very impressive. The instructions were a bit confusing but the actual gameplay concept is really cool. I personally feel that the third level was too hard, but the level design overall was well though out. The dialogue was a nice touch. Amazing work on this game!

Thanks! Yeah, my brother also said the third level was too difficult, so I tried to make it easier, but I think you're right that it needs more tweaking (probably those little platforms on the right should be wider).

As for the instructions being confusing, do you remember what the confusing parts were (for future reference)? There were a lot of very specific things going on, but after being submerged in these mechanics for three days, it's impossible for me to see which are well explained and which aren't!

The tutorial was kind of a wall of text so that made it hard to know what to do a bit, but the main issue was the instrument toggle menu. I thought the instruments were just straight up locked instead of just untoggled since they had a big X on them. I'd recommend writing the controls on the instrument menu permanently so the player has a reference. Other than that, great game!
